Last year I moved after 8 years in the same school. I feel you when you said you felt homesick. I felt exactly the same last summer. And now I love my school, so it definitely does get better.
I am moving schools after 11 years at the same school. It is the only place I’ve ever taught. I’m super excited and happy to be at my new school, I know it’s where I’m supposed to be. I really wasn’t sad to leave. I mean I love everyone there, it was just time. However, I had the same homesick feeling the first few days setting up. So I know what you’re talking about. Have a great year!!!
Removing staples is a great idea. When I started at a new school that became our operating procedure. Having clear boards prevents the unfortunate scratches/cuts that I have gotten from forgotten or broken staples.
Bulletin boards look fabulous. For what to put on them. I suggest..A word wall. More like vocabulary related to content. Can have morphology or etymology plus definition etc… can add as kids learn through the unit. Then start again for the next unit.
I taught summer school at a different school. I felt so homesick being in another classroom that I couldn't teach well. I just was sad and I missed the old school. I thought it was just me. I love my lil classroom.
It’s my 7th year teaching, but my 3rd year teaching 5th grade, and I’m also starting at a new school. My classroom here is a lot smaller and has almost no storage, so I’m really feeling the adjustment. Glad to find a fellow 5th grade teacher.
Bulletin Board Ideas: Student birthdays, quote of the day or week, Student work display- WOW Work or Our Brightest Work, the little one can also be your "fridge" where you can hang up pictures of your class or drawings or notes your students will be making for you, and also the super long board can be divided into 2 or 3 so you can hang anchor charts throughout the school year - Math, Reading, Writing or ELA (writing and reading) If your desk is going to be by one of the built in units you can place curriculum, PD books and in extra supplies, or teacher toolbox. Love the idea of using the smiley face borders as bookmarks and the wood borders is very cozy and clean. I hope this helps
Congratulations on your classroom and i can’t wait to go back to college I’m taking math and education next year I’m moving back to Miami and after next year I’m learning how to drive get my dream car and I’m getting engaged after my 3 year of college me and my boyfriend are getting our own car and house and then get two girl cats and then a girl parrot and I’m going to get married after college and I’m teaching English and reading with speacial needs 😄❤️
I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better in your room. Change is hard, especially when our classrooms feel like a second home. You may have already decided, but what helps me with bulletin boards and seating is to really think about how I actually teach and the procedures I like. For example, an interactive board is great, but can I really allot time to those things or manage my class in such a way that kids can be up and down using the board? I also like to leave space for things to grow with students' interests. Maybe a wonder wall or hanging collaborative projects. I guess I just try to be honest with myself on how much time I have and how I actually teach. Hope that makes sense! You're doing great!
Thank you! This is great to think about. I use slides for most of my day, so being able to see the board is important for me. I’ll start thinking more about our procedures and how they fit in to the layout.
I moved school after 3 years in the same classroom, it's definitely hard at the beginning. Trust me, you'll be able to make this new classroom home again 💜
The wood borders look so great especially since it matches all of the wood trim in the classroom! Even though it's an older building it's definitely so cozy and a great space. I know it's hard to adjust but I'm sure you'll do great :) Still jealous of your students hahaha
I teach 6th grade in Wisconsin! You must be near where I live, because we have air show traffic here too!! Your room is looking great! I hope you have a great year! 😁
I think you should wait until the very last step before starting the bulletin boards that you aren’t sure about. I think once you get your furniture and organization complete it will be easier to think about the bulletin boards.
@@Picklementary everyone does it different but I just thought that might be best for you since you seem stuck and bulletin boards are so time consuming!!!
Why don’t you do groups of four but off set them so they aren’t perfectly square? Kinda like the group of three but add a fourth…that way the sit flesh
