February 22, 1957 The Bert Royal vs Tony Oliver match here is probably the best of the 50s French matches we've seen so far, which is saying so very much. Check it out if you haven't already.
It's great to hear that. We might have one more, a tag with him and Vic Hessle/Lew Faulkner too that hopefully we'll do in the next month or so. Anyway, this one was a really tremendous match. Hopefully it ends up with him to view if possible. I can't imagine many other matches from so early in his career exist.
@@mattd2a I Messaged his son and sent him the link earlier when I first saw it, Bert was very grateful, he would be overjoyed to see his dad in action, I gave him a poster from my collection with his dad on top of the bill from 1942 and he was amazed to see it !
The billings can get a little mixed up with some of these matches (lots of having Brits be billed Australians and Canadians as Americans, etc.) but I'm pretty sure it's the father/son pairing. I'll make sure it goes public when we get there, hopefully week after next. Be on the lookout.
