Song: Relax ti mal Group: Claude Marcelin Album: Sharp vol.2 Year: 1988 Country: Haiti This was a huge hit in Haiti in the 80s. It was release on the 2nd volume of the compilation album Sharp.
Ti Claude Marcelin, along with Robert Martino, Dadou Pasket, Joel Widmaier, Lionel Benjamin, Reginald Ploycard and so many others around their time, belong to a generation of Haitian artists, who not only transcend Haitian music, but can never be duplicated, copied or be followed. These guys didnt perfect their craft for money, but instead for the love of music and the love of their country. That generation of great Haitian artists valued EXCELLENCE.
I agree , indied so many others to add on the list to be exhaustive about great Haitian legend on the HMI:please don't forget often Georges Lys Herard ( sa sé politik pam, the answer at relaxti mal, no one don't suppose to left behind, ki non manmanw, ki non papaw doesn't matter), Ti Gerard et Max Badet from Djet-X, the phenomenon ti Manno, Loubert Chancy, Ratmond Cajuste of Bossa , Zouzoul, Touco Bouzy,.....
It's true cause I'm listening and witching this and must of took resources sacrifices to shoot this video the mixing of the music recording on dat tapes or rolls and u know how much studio time cost the arrangement this is genious
Simple yet mesmerizing lyrics, " kotew prale? Kibor-w rete? Kinon papa- w kinon manman-w ki singnati-w?" One of my favorite song growing up in Haiti back in the early 90s.
Even if there's a classs problem in Haiti...musicians and artist are always the first to call for change. Praising kidnappings and assaults is disgusting...
i am a trini but i love konpa, from shleu shleu all the way up to sweet mickey. this guy's stuff is brilliant. can anybody tell me what the song is about? i only understand some words here or there
Grew up in the 80's in the States ( MTV generation)and was totally immersed in my American music. But boy, as my Haitian counterparts back in the day were jamming to kompa and zouk, i was blessed to have stumbled on this wonderful song and more of this kind too. Never get away from roots; it will find you.

There's nothing like old school haitian music, I grew up listening to my mom playing this kind of music... Takes me back into a time machine reminicsing those times.
Boy la nostalgie. We played the heck out of these videos while "cleaning" on Saturdays as kids.
Resquiescat in pace Master Dji
Hey my haitian brothers and sisters,we have yet to figure out how to get along instead of going after each other, honestly I've heard about the topic you're referring to,yes it does exist. I was born right here in Brooklyn my 👩 mom is full haitian and my dad is a Sicilian guy from Brooklyn although I grew up in haiti i came back in state when I was 11 years old I'm now 48 years old and I'm pretty much seen it all Neg an haut Neg anba such narratives have no merritt in our community, I would love to go visit one day, but when will such day arrive though ?
Sete bon moman,lènap gade Émeline Michel,Ti Claude Marcelin,Master G,Assad Francoeur nan lovanna,Ansy et Yole de Rose,et Yon bann lot bel atis ankò.sete bel bagay.
My favorite song when i was 6 years old, that's that authentic Haitian music, not that Haitian diaspora crap that we make these days with fake creole words I call it(creoglish) . Sa se vre musik la sa la.
I remember racing down route national in a Subaru. Lots of fun passing the tap-taps at 120kmh, then heading to kayona beach for some sun and a prestige with a Comme il Faut of course. "Garcon two more prestige s'il vous plait" C'est ca!..
