wow thanks i was about to purchase a cast iron bath tub but it didnt have the feet. i found your video very helpful and so glad i didnt go ahead and buy the tub now because i also thought all feet fitted all iron bath tubs. thanks a mil
I think the feet on my tub should be secured with a nail, i wish i could show you but i can’t post pictures here. The rail that receives the tongue has a top at the end that wont allow a clip and it has a hole in it, like a nail is supossed to go through.
There really not all that heavy, more awkward than anything. Typically, I plant my feet near one side and grab the opposite rim, lean back and the tube usually pivots up just fine. if it is still too big you can take a 2x4 that is about 3 1/2 feet wider than the tub. Use a ratchet strap doubled up to form a loop. put the loop under the middle of the tube and put the 2x4 thtough each end of the loop with the 2x4 resting on top of the tub. leave 4 to 6" inces of the 2x4 sticking out from one side and a long 3 foot piece sticking out the other side. tighten the ratchet strap and you have "handle" which you can use to flip the tub over or on its side.
Adrienne I have a UNIQUE issue with my tub. My tub rocks from side to side - the tub is sitting on a solid base, not feet. I cannot find anyone to help me solve this issue as my tub rocks daily with every move I make while showering.
I just ordered some feet for my tub off ebay assuming they would fit. I assumed the foot just slid into the notches, looks like I assumed wrong. I'll update post when done.
Do you know if there's a certain type of wax, oil, or polish that can be applied to the claw foot to help protect it from bathroom moisture that could lead to pitting/corrosion of a chrome foot? Thanks!
I spray mine with a spray paint designed to inhibit rust, like rust-o-leum, in whatever color you want. If there's already rust I spray it first with rust-o-leum's Rust Reformer spray, then go over top of it with the spray paint.
My clawfoot tub collapsed! Turns out I am missing the brackets on the legs. I searched online and couldn't find the brackets. People sell the legs but they don't have the brackets to go with them. Any ideas??
Oh wow... Ok, if your tub is made by Sanitary Standard then you can buy replacement brackets here at this website (they call them "clips"). deabath.com/product-category/tubs-showers/tub-feet/ They also have some other solutions to try that I mentioned in the video if your tub is a different manufacturer. I have also seen some strange looking after-market products come up online if you just google "clawfoot tub replacement brackets" and they might or might not work--I have zero experience with any of them. Good Luck!!
@@AdrienneLovesOldHouses Thanks for replying! I found them on that link but unfortunately they are currently out of stock. I contacted the shop via email to see if I could get a lead time for back ordering 4 clips. Those clips look as though they will work perfectly on my tub! Thanks again!!
