Surprising to say for adult swim but its true, Spoiler alert for a episode here, . . . . One episode talked about three woman and each of there problem. All of them suffer in there own way and basically, one woman gets abused from people all over town but when she goes home, her mindset is like a kid and being home is her safe place until something happens that changes that

This is gonna be some kind of vent, i don't know how to call it, my first lenguage isn't english but here we go I kinda reflect on Bloberta, when I was younger all I wanted was having a boyfriend just to leave my abusive family. I found him, her mother died when he was a kid so he was raised by his father, in an abusive way, he also wanted to leave his house At first we were good, but suddenly he started to act mean to me. That was years ago, now we still being a couple and we will be married soon I know he's not so good for me, but I love him so much and I hate me for that

It's so ironic that the wedding they were singing at was Principal Fakey's wedding, which ended up in an unhappy marriage where the bride is being gaslit and cheated on. Yet Bloberta grew up in a community where she's told that getting married is the end all be all of living your life and being happy. She only got to see the ceremony and was jealous of the other couples, but didn't realize that being with the wrong person is much worse than being single. She also only sees her friends getting married and engaged, but not the actual relationship behind the scenes. Which was what made her pick Clay, even though there was no chemistry, love or romance between them, just so she could say that she's getting married and getting it over with.

It’s not that they DON’T want to divorce, it’s that they CAN’T. In this community and time period, divorce was seen as a shameful and sinful act (especially if you were Catholic). No matter how bad your marriage was, couples were supposed to stay together to “honor the sanctity of marriage,” and of course, “till death do us part.” It also didn’t help that women didn’t have the freedom back then that they have today; listen to the song sung by Bloberta’s family for proof. Even if a wife was being abused by her husband, divorce was still considered unthinkable; the ONLY time this scenario would work is if the husband beat his wife to the point of broken bones/black eyes, or enough to land her in the hospital. Unfortunately, most bad husbands back then weren’t that stupid; they would smack their wives, but not hard enough to leave permanent marks, hit them in places where the bruises could easily be covered up by clothes, or verbally abuse them. If Orel’s parents lived anywhere and anyTIME else, they’d have GLADLY called it quits with their marriage years ago.

When it first came out I wasn't so interested. But after binging the entire series I had a newfound respect for it. The storytelling is otherworldly. And morals family has a pretty sad story for such a happy kid. I feel bad for the pasters daughter and the school nurse also

What would be the point? The series ended. Why dig it up? To watch a well adjusted adult live with his well adjusted and ultimately boring family? The whole point is that he grows up to be a good person in spite of the trauma. Take away the trauma and it's three seasons of nothing.

She guilt-tripped Clay to propose because she felt insecure of being a single unlike her marrying friends & being alone in her family. On the other hand, Clay dead-set decided to become a solidary person and he was fine with it. He even said in the show that he never wanted to get married.

If he had been born anywhere else he would have made it past his trauma. But instead he is told to bury it and surrender control of his life to his faith. While faith can help people move past things, that’s not the brand of religion practiced in Moralton; he is made to conform himself at all costs.

It is true that Bloberta is at fault, though. Bloberta convinced Clay to drink since she had a taste for alcohol and low-key attempted to turn Clay into a subsititue for her father who actually drank alcohol. It is absoloutely normal for a young adult to fall into a habit of subsitance abuse if he or she isn't given a proper guidance. What did Bloberta do when she saw Clay got drunk for the first time? Bloberta loathed Clay of being drunk and not giving her attention that she seek from Clay. She offered zero support. The only time Bloberta offered a 'help' was when she guilt-tripped Clay into the marriage that he never wanted. Clay was a solidary person and he was fine with it. Clay was miserable of being trapped in the marriage & children he never wanted. Bloberta was a villain and Clay was a victim.

I remember the 1930s tried to do that with the prohibition. It didn't end well, Mafia thugs rule the cities. So when Alcohol got legalized again thankfully those mafias are a thing of the past.
