It was realistic, considering the prevalence of firearms in the USA, im not surprised he got capped while holding one probably owned legally but doesnt matter in the end. as usual
@Paddington look, I don't argue with it. But this is a tv show, and the showrunners claimed to want to give Clay's death, meaning that something good comes out of it. But nothing good came out of it. Yes, he stopped the guy from taking his own life, but the guy's ran. He's even more traumatized now, and the guilt is even more pronounced. I'm guessing nothing, and no one will stop him from killing himself now that life has proven that it's just out to get him for real. So maybe if that story ends somewhat better, maybe it's a fitting ending to a character, but if not, it was just an awful and tragic send off to a man who was no longer a soldier and was planning to leave with his wife and baby for a better future. (Sorry for the long reply.)
I actually believe this was the best way to go out for him. It's so heartbreaking and it's also rooted in reality, it reminds me so much og Chris Kyle and it also fits his character so well, to die while trying to help others
When he started helping this veteran, he thought "I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Clay as Chris Kyle"... well, an unfortunate death for a great character.
yeah ikr... this is definitely a direct reflection on Chris Kyle... the security guard was part was soooo poorly written in like this. I had some combat veteran friends, and non combat vet they could get pass the self reflection part until they took their own lives.
I didn't watch too many TVs but this is probably one of the best scripted death/exits for any character I have ever seen. It's unexpected while being completely reasonable and foreshadowed. He died doing an honorable thing, which responds to what has been haunting him since Swaney's death and his incapacitation. Yes none of us want him to die that way and it's truly a shame, but that's what such a realistic show like this should strive to deliver, and the creators pulled this off brilliantly. Clay, as a character, is completed. Unlike Full Metal, whose death was nowhere as impactful, Clay's journey to death is shown as the consequence of many issues in many aspects combined: Clay's struggle with self-esteem and incapacitation, he and Stella's trust issue, Jason's TBI and stubbornness to remain leader, Bravo's cohesion issues, social support for vets, the US's geopolitical policy, endless wars, and even gun control. The creators deserve credit for granting his inevitable exit such immense weight and deep messages.
Its not about clay deserving it. He decided to leave the show to do another project called fire county. The writers were not planning on having him die. He was too much of a main character and the actor was too significant to just he written out until he left on his own. To me thats a double loss. I wish he wouldve stayed. The matter of Clay's survival was literally his own choice.
@@marcobertocchi9213I understand what your saying about him not deserving his death, but do me its well written because it points out how these things happen in real life. If nobody in this show died or got hurt (none of them or any service members deserve to die) it wouldn’t be an impactful show at all.
@@blue4948 I agree with what you say, but I assume that his cinematic death was due to the fact that he changed film sets. Given his young age, for me it was better if they sent him on an undercover mission. Only in death there is no remedy.🙂
Sonny’s reactions what made Clays death even worse for me. This show hits hard and I love it! Not a lot of shows have this emotional rollercoaster. I will be forever grateful for this masterpiece!
He was the best of all us humans in one person, he knew how to love, be kind, generate and appreciative. He helped people believe in themselves when the person already lost hope. He was truly a american hero
The actor of Jason Hayes wears one of the actual helmets that was used in the osama bin laden mission. It was worn by mark bissonnette, who encountered osama bin laden after he was already shot.
As soon as he started helping another veteran I new he was going to die in a way like this I seen it coming and I couldn’t stop thinking of Chris Kyle it’s sad
No kidding I know the actor was going to move on to something like fire country. That is if season two ever shows up thanks to the stupid strike. But I feel like they didn’t need to kill him off like that. All they had to do was simply have him go with his wife to whatever they were planning to go do. Instead, they just killed him off like yeah we don’t want you coming back so we’re gonna kill you off nice working with you. I felt like Randy marsh from World of Warcraft where he reacts to his character getting killed by that guy who goes around randomly murdering every single World of Warcraft character.
I hated seeing one off my favourite Seal Team Character get killed off but once he started helping an unstable Vet I knew it was going to be another Chris Kyle scene and it was sad seeing it go this way but in America its shoot first ask questions later and anyone holding a firearm will in most situations get shot before they can use it on someone else and in the eyes of the Security Guard Clay sadly was the bad guy holding a firearm. R.I.P Clay we badly miss you as will Sonny and the Team.
Because real life is not a good ending fantasy. It is hell and they are trying do depect it like it is. If it is not war, what kills you, it is something else. No escape
@@vladislavchod4314 I get that but in real life a person doesn't take a IED, get shot by a rpg and lose a leg, has a baby born premature, then get killed by a security guard at home. Like it's too much
@@musicloversixteen LOL Davis got a better send off and she didn't even leave the show. Even if he has another show they could've had him move and possibly guest star like what they did with Patrick Adam's and Megan Markle on Suits
Ya know the writers could have easily wrote the Clay character off by riding off into the sunset w/ his wife and son but they nailed it w/ this exit. Crushed me. Had me in heavy tears, but it made sense. Always putting someone else first before himself.
Ok on my opinion that cop should have not shot the gun because here’s why, clay didn’t make any sudden movements to the cop or Ben. And he didn’t point the gun at anyone. So I hope next episode he gets arrested for it. Also we all knew it was going to go Chris Kyle as soon as Ben pulled out the gun
Yeah I knew it was going down this way as soon as he met the fucking Psycho. War fucks people up, sure, but some people were already unhinged to start with.
Unfortunately, it's not unrealistic that there are trigger-happy security guards like this who'd panic, and not even give a de-escalation command. That means he's either unfit for the job, had awful training, or both.
if he was a rookie, i could understand, but it's look like he know how to do his job and this is big mistake, his job is to be securing the area and neutralizing the suspect, not killing the suspect. In the clip, you can see Clay is slowly turn his back and put the gun and what did the security guard do? he just shot clay for no reason. This only happen on 2 scenarios, 1. the security guard is a rookie, he clearly don't know what do to do and don't understand the protocol and he panicked so he triggered his gun; or 2. he was an idiot and he tried to get sued by the victim's family and be arrested
@@sieusaopolo10"i was in panic but i still managed to hit bullseye" ... In someway it is the bs end to a character in a show that is running for way too long. But on the otherside its another kill by a wannabe law enforcement idiot.. nothing new to the US and for sure.. no big storywriting. Would be way better if he get arrested and kicked out of the service and write a book like his father or get hired as a mercenary or founding his own security company... just of screen telling about his life but no - he get shot by a random security dude because thats a damn good idea xD Stupid showrunner
Remember watching this show 4 years ago but I stopped I might just watch season 3-6 because I think I was the first two seasons going through a hard time back then
Just watched the episode where Swanny has his funeral after committing suicide. They gave a side character a BETETR send off than Clay. No coffin with the Tridents embedded on the lid...no military send off...No words from the team or team leader....No closure with his wife. The picture they hung on the wall was even a bad / dark picture you could barely see it was Clay....The whole death of Clay was 100% sour grapes by the Producers...they were pissed he was leaving so ruined his character..... Disgraceful the way they treated a main character who actually made the show a hit.
Yeah I agree...and Swanny's death was actually realistic because vets with TBI's often do commit suicide, but this just seemed like a way to write Clay out of the show quickly.
This was a bittersweet ending and tough pill the swallow i know everything cant be sunshine and rainbows but i wish clay got a happier ending but being gun down by a security guard sounds cheap although his act was Heroic
Man Clay got jacked up the whole show. But it never put him down. Took a bullet to the heart to put Clay down. I wasn't a frog man or a team guy but I was a ranger and losing someone who is like your brother, knowing he's been to the meat grinder multiple times, and had a family at home, destroyed me watching this scene. Brought back old memories. I think the show did take a page out of Chris Kyle's death. A Seal who dies finding purpose in helping veterans struggling with PTSD. Clay was my favorite character next to Ray. I have seen people and myself break down like Sonny. They did Clay wrong.
@@Laura-vs3wn Da quello che so in Italia da noi la sesta non è neanche uscita, ma per ora su RAI 4 sono alla terza, per cui va bene così. Prima o poi doppieranno anche quella, vediamo quando.
And now it is ending in season 7. God, in the final episode without Clay, it will be so hard. I still am at the end of season 5, so need to watch 6 before 7 streams.
not a realistic death from my perspective, Clay is putting the gun down and he's still getting shot, what kind of security guard is that ? the whole shoot 1st ask later is totally wrong and also it's not how the guard's work, they should neutralize the shooter, not killing him. The writer of the show clearly has no sense of how the guard or the police officer works, this is unrealistic death ever
Such a stupid ending. In one season Clay got blown up, lost a leg, got it back partially, got thhrough rehab, got addicted to drugs, tried to kill himself, got through that, and then ended up dying anyways. Why? Why not let him leave with Stella? Why spent an entire season seeing clay get through all these things just to die a stupid nonsensical death. This was ridiculous. Not watching anymore episodes.
The security guard was a complete lunatic... Clay didn't say or do anything worth being shot at instantly man.🤦 Typical action of an armed but, foolish security guard...😄 Thank God it's a movie because it really ached my heart. 💔
I wonder if the writers low key hate Max cus EVERYTHING happened to Clay! His character more than anyone deserved good things and a happy frickin ending! It just shows the writers don’t care about the character or the fans. I mean, a lot of us came for David but stayed for Max!
Max had a new show (Cal Fire) that just came out. So he had to step away from SEAL Team to fully focus on his new show. I hate that this is how they wrote him off, but they didn't have much of a choice other than to write him off.
@@chaisebowers9019 I get it. I love Fire Country, however they could’ve did Clay better. Let him die on the battlefield or better yet just let him move on with Stella. Why put his character (and us) through all of that to just kill him off senselessly. It seems spiteful. The way they killed him off doesn’t help anything or advance the story. It was for shock value and to just piss off the fans.
@@Miselayneous I think they did it to speak on the type of character that he embodied(helping others even if ge gets killed in the process) i havent been able to honestly to god catch the past two seasons
Let me start by saying, I thoroughly enjoy this show!! As someone who often steers clear of military/tactical TV series (because a lot of it goes over my head), what drew me to this show were the characters. I CARE about them, and that's crucial when trying to draw in viewers so they're invested every episode. Having said that, I fell in love with "Clay Spenser" early on. To witness his journey from the early hopes of joining Bravo until the moment he realized he was on a different path was such a joy to see. Despite no longer being a part of the action, I still cared about him, Stella, and little Brian. I was enthusiastic about what was in store for them. Never in a million years did I expect that journey to end so tragically. This ending had me in disbelief. A part of me even thought, he's survived everything else. Maybe he'll survive this, too. When I realized it was truly the end ... let's just say I developed a headache from crying so much. "Sonny's" reaction was similar to my own. Disbelief, then total breakdown. While I understand many feel Clay died doing what he believed in, which was helping another in need, I can't help feeling it was senseless. He had de-escalated things by the time the security guard showed up. Ben was calm. Clay died because he was PERCEIVED to be a threat!! That guard saw a man holding a firearm standing in close proximity to another. This is why I'll never see the silver lining in Clay's death. Tremendous performances by the cast, and my hat's of to the show runners, but I will ALWAYS see this as a senseless tragedy. Realistic, but senseless nonetheless. It's still hard for me to watch this scene.
Its amazing how the Security guy was so determined to kill!!!😂 He even kept standing there wtf!!! There was clearly no threat here to shoot, so sad clay had to go.😩😩 Though, In many aspect’s of life thats how reality works.
Might just be a series, but unfortunately, I can easily believe a security guard with very little experience would do that. I don't understand why they issue side arms so easily in roles in the US 🤷♂️
@Batou3 And there we go! A prime example as to why there shouldn't be the right to bare arms, because of individuals like yourself giving stupid answers like that! You sound like you couldn't be trusted with a water pistol, let alone an actual sidearm. But 👏👏 for the indepth answer 🤦
Absolutely the WORST way to end his character arc. They intentionally RUINED his character because he was leaving for another show. All they had to do was let him leave with Stella , go live on a farm and have a good ending.... maybe have him back as a guest appearance as a blackwater contractor from time to time or join a CIA spook team for the odd appearance. His story with Stella was a great evolution of relationship and his growth as a person. To end it like this??? What a disgrace! AND they didnt even give him a funeral!!! This was a total slap in the face of Clay and a slap in the face of all the fans!!! The fans deserved better! Stella got like one scene crying about it and it as over. Whoever wrote this episode was a D*ck!
One of the reason that I liked to watch seal team is Clay and Ray, ( my favourite characters) there was no other way to take him out of the series? first his leg and end by killing him, this is terrible terrible, I really feel soooooooo Sad
Okay, Time to break out a few beers and watch Fire Country. I think Ray needs to retire and don't try to milk this show for anymore. I really liked it, but I think it's time to wrap it up.
Jesus man, I just watched the scene where Stella held her baby for the first time, and Clay cried wishing he was there. This breaks my heart even more. Seriously, when the show is over this season, they better mention Clay in some way.
Well Clay out of the picture, Ray retires, Bravo 1 feeling the need to leave the team again and Omar coming as his successor. Hard to believe they will make a season 7 now...
I didn't like him at the beginning. He was cocky and arrogant, but he learned to be a team player and was always there to support the team. He even helped others outside the ops like Swanny and this guy. He was smart grew to like him later in the season.
when i watched this episode, my 1st thought is that this is not how the security guard works; i felt angry not only because the writer treats Clay badly but the fact that they show how unprofessional and unrealistic scene on TV, it just make me piss off. There could a better way to handle the situation, and there is no where in the world train their security guard to shoot 1st ask later😂, clearly unrealistic, because their job is not to kill, securing and protecting the property is what they are trained for
The reason Clay died is because the actor decided to leave the show to do another project called fire county. The writers were not planning on having him die. He was too much of a main character and the actor was too significant to just be written out. Until he left on his own, which to me is a double loss.
That's not how this works mate no one says freeze that's some 90 cop drama shit also clay spun around quick with the gun in hand so yeah its pretty much fair game it doesn't matter if he raised it or not just that he could raise it so better to not take that chance
When I saw him hit the ground I no joke threw my phone on the floor sorry smashed it on the floor the phones fine I'm just angry cause I flew through this series but I got attached to all of these guys really quickly and seeing him hit the floor broke me he deserved so much better
The Security Guard shot to kill bullet to the chest but not trained to see what the threat was if there was any ... Gun held to the outside of his body ... such a waster of a good human ... relates to the tragedy of the Movie AMERICAN SNIPER ... I absolutely love this Show ... highlights everything Good and Bad about the US MILITARY ... time we looked after our fighting men better than we do ... in Australia a Vet commits sucide every day and no one cares 😢
