Actually, during the GWOT, responsiblity for Iraq was assigned to Delta and Afghanistan was assigned to DEVGRU, thats why. And also the USSOCOM/JSOC Commander at the time was Admiral McRaven, a former Navy SEAL
I disagree. The sole reason SEAL Team 6 was picked for the Osama mission and Africa rescue is because Admiral McRaven, a former SEAL, was commanding SOCOM, at the time of these raids. If a Army General has been commanding SOCOM I guarantee you that Delta would have been sent in.
The OBL mission was Clowns In America. They didn’t use military helo’s, they used agency. Lots of interviews give hints to what happened behind the scenes. They were on a kill mission, not capture. And looking at the whole picture, you can see the agency’s cover story. The thing you’ll never figure out is which US Senator was OBL’s “handler”………(dead men tell no tales)!
delta is hand picked from only special forces teams. you have to be a seal or a ranger before you can hope to become delta. they take from the cia and civilian side too.
DELTA hand picks from the elite from Special Forces, Rangers, and sometimes from also the Special OPS from all branches. Special Forces does not hand pick from DELTA, DELTA hand picks from Special Forces.
They dont only recruit from US Special Operations Forces. They also recruit from regular conventional military. Theres been a US Marine who was in The Unit recently. Wikipedia: (Delta Force) "selection is open to other special operations and conventional units across the Army and other military branches" (and not only to US SF and 75th Ranger Regiment)
