My brother Bob died an a car crash on January 4, 1994 at age 44. As I was driving to the hospital to see our brother Dean who was a passenger in the car, this song came on the radio. Clay's beautiful words released all the emotions that I had been holding in for days.
Called in as an eleven year old with my now departed grandma to the radio and requested this get a spin....This song was loved by kids to grandparents. That’s what I call a GEM
One of the greats killed off by the music industry because they wouldn't sell out like Tim McGraw....makes me love this man's music more and appreciate him as a human being. That's solid
I’m 40 now.. I can still remover riding in my high school boyfriends truck to the drive in after a Friday night game listening to this… I really miss real country music … love the 70-90s music
Here after watching his concert in Louisville Ky after MATS. Honestly glad I gave him a chance didn't think I would like because I dont like new country but his is good.
Oh, as a kid, loved Clay and this song! I grew up listening to these songs, Country and Blue Grass! I had a Mom who played guitar, uncle who played Banjo, and down in Ky, people with fiddles would stop by and we had music all the time!
I hope he’s ok with his health he gave us such good music I know he still with us but I know that he was diagnosed I believe with MS so I hope that he’s well and his family as well in the name of Jesus Lord
A great Motto song for everyone to live by! I love seeing how you do that, and using your God given gifts of music and entertainment to the BEST!! The fiddle "hook" kicks this classic country song off beautifully! Know your grandmother up above smiles big every time she hears you sing this!!
Clay Walker you have always been amazing!!! I'm just scrolling through, can't sleep and I love me some 90's country! So you were my 1st pick and I'm glad I picked you because good memories are the Best and memories are something that no one can ever take from me. You're Your New Song Jesse James is the $#!+.... I'ts different than any other you've sang in my opinion and you made us Country folks look good once again with a perfect song.....Next is There was this woman..( my Favorite) I was a Sophomore in HS and it will forever be one of my top Country songs of all times and my grandson is 5 and he can sing every word lol too cute.., Rumor Has it, If I could make a living, I could go on and on!! Thank you for some of the best, real Country I've listened to! God Bless you
This man got me threw my childhood even my prison time I bought all his songs on my mp3 such a underrated artist I've been clean off drugs for 3 year and this song has really helped me clay walker is somebody I will look up to the rest of my life
@@ethancurtis4233 I've never struggled with addiction but I've seen a lot of people that have and the best thing for that is encouragement. I wish the best for you and your family. Good luck and keep on keepin on brotha!
Ethan Curtis I know all about prison. You have to dog deep in you and use what happens not as a stumbling block but a steeping stone. I use this song to self motivate me about my health. I want a cheeseburger so dang bad but my kidney disease and heart disease is getting be sluggish. So ima get on treadmill and praise the Lord and walk it off. We all have vices...fat people sale their stuff too to buy food, drug people do it to and some in jail well they just made a mistake. I've been on the wrong side 1 time as a teenager and then now in uniform. I enjoy seeing people turn their lives to the better. Ethan look up the coffe bean book, and the song chain breaker. Sometimes our own best motivators are ourselves and music definately. Feed your mind.
I’m from west Africa and I’m a big fan of country music always listening while growing until I make it in USA 🇺🇸 and still listening to country music❤️❤️❤️
I am more a city person, than a countryside, but I enjoy listening to country music, and I hold to my dreams🌳 Beautiful musical background, voice, and a picture.
I have made many millions, I have traveled the world, this song is still 30 years later the core of my soul. Thank you Clay for this song, high school marriage, divorce, all over the US and Europe still who we are.

Lyrics: Skippin' rocks, skippin' rope Laughin' at all my best friends jokes Things I loved when I was a kid Muddy roads, muddy feet I didn't live on no blacktop street Things have changed a lot but I never did And I don't want to think about tomorrow I don't need anything money can buy I don't have to beg, steal, or borrow I just want to live until I die Livin' right, livin' in this little old town I grew up in But I still held on to my dreams Standin' proud, standin' tall Standin' smack dab in the middle of it all I don't worry 'bout things that I can't change And I don't want to think about tomorrow I don't need anything money can buy I don't have to beg, steal, or borrow I just want to live until I die And everything around me are Things I dearly love And every night I get on my knees and thank The lord above And I don't want to think about tomorrow I don't need anything money can buy I don't have to beg, steal, or borrow I just want to live until I die I don't have to beg, steal, or borrow I just want to live until I die
I didn't either live in no black top street I didn't I'm pure country I'm proud that. That's me stand7ng proud I grew up in the country no black top roads
This one of my brothers favorite songs , said it reminded him of his best friend billy Joe and I hadn't heard him say that name in years, but I had, bc he was my first childhood crush, and him saying that stuck with me and I'm glad 😊 💕 it did, bc I lost my brother in March. He was my buddy, my pal my best friend he was bubby and my whole world, so I think of two wonderful people n our childhood memories when hearing this song, we grew up on a brick road n it was wondering except for bike riding
I saw him perform as an opening act when he was just starting out in 1993. I can barely remember the main attraction, only Clay Walker putting on a phenomenal performance and stealing the show.
