Two Titans of comedy, Richard Pryor and Chapelle or near equivalent on the comedic scale. With my preference going to Chapelle. Like was said only Chapelle or perhaps Pryor could have pulled this off without being delivered a death blow to their careers. Anyway what is the problem? In effect he is only making fun of the absurd ignorance of a mostly white southern population, that was a product of the even bigger ignorance and practices of the generations before them. The white man had that coming, and with that performance racism was no longer cool in even the the backwoods hills of Tennessee. I think Jed Clampett might have started listening to hip hop blasting out his Model A Oldsmobile in a denouncing his prior system of beliefs 😂
@KenCat623 this is only part of the first episode of that brilliant show Chapelle takes my vote too. Another great skit from episode 1 pop copy. He got away with all that because when the executives and corporate ad reps watched his stuff they knew it was beyond reproach and Chapelle was not held to normal standards because I think even advertising reps and corporate lawyers couldn't deny his art I think it was so good nobody would want to censor it like nobody covers the David

The craziest thing about this sketch was that it was the first sketch aired on the first episode of the first season of Chappelle’s Show. Imagine your show being a complete unknown quantity, and *this* is the sketch you choose to introduce your show to the world. Wild.

It's mainly the same reason that so many people point to Blazing Saddles by Mel Brooks as one of the funniest movies of all time. It's just the same type of thing. It just shows the crazy Ridiculousness of the whole thing. The whole thing about racism and how white people all around this country for centuries have been so easily duped

When they're at the gas station and the good old boys are out there harassing him then he tries to talk to the dudes in the Mustang with the rap blaring. That was just one of the funniest parts to me😅😅😅

I think this skit is hilarious as hell. Dave Chapelle obviously got the guts for something with a real edge. And the guy’s head exploding is just wild.
He is one of the true last comedians there’s just nobody like him. I have so much respect for the man he understands comedy and doesn’t care what people think.
I watched this when this was originally aired. This skit had me dying of laughter. The whole skit is perfection. Dave is a damn genius and will always be one of the top GOATS. End of story.
Those were more relaxed days where people didn't worry to much about jokes but even then this one was pushing it big time. Those hard Rs everywhere (which change things for some reason.) This was transgressive even back then. Imagine this coming out today.

Black white supremacist is quite possibly the greatest and funniest ever skit put together. It was just an outstanding idea for a skit. And the writing for Dave Chappelle was absolutely off the charts. When this first came out and I saw it, I laughed so hard I was crying. Literally😂😂😂😂

I'm a 73 yr-old White man, and this Chappelle skit cracked me up, just like you, when it first came out. I bought a “CLAYTON BIGSBY 2020” Tee-shirt, (“Let that HATE out”) and wore it in 2020. I've been wearing it during 2024, even though they have not updated it to this election year. It's a great conversation starter. Also, I first heard Dave's CRACK ADDICT skit, and the Rick James/ Charlie Murphy story, and don't forget “The NIGGAR FAMILY". I started BINGE-WATCHING everything by Dave Chappelle, and that put me well on the way to being a loyal fan. I never get tired of watching his works, and I really enjoyed the way you reacted and laughed!

This might have been humanities peak moment of comedy. The execution of these jokes and the way they're crafted is seriously next level, and nor just in this episode, but all of them.
I don’t know if this is the funniest skit I ever saw, but it’s up there. Only Dave can think this up. It was fantastic then as it is now. When that guys head exploded, I laughed so hard I started wheezing. Fantastic clip.
I remember seeing this when it debut. I was in college and was sitting around smoking with some people. Everyone in the room was on the floor laughing 🤣🤣🤣. Genius.

I watched this when it first came out and I knew better on some of the words but I couldn't stop laughing. Dave Chappelle is my favorite comedian. Great video ma'am. I enjoyed laughing with you to some nostalgia.
I couldn't believe when I saw this on tv when it came out. Dave is an absolute genius. I remember there was one skit that made me get in my feelings, I got offended...but it made me think about it, and how it was ridiculous that I could laugh at a joke about someone else, but not about me. That was the last time I ever got offended. I learned something about myself and grew as a person from Dave's filthy fucking skits 😆😆
