THNX A LOT!! I NEED TO DO THAT AND I HAD BEEN WONDERING HOW TO DO IT. I USE VINEGAR & BAKING SODA FOR EVERYTHING, BUT FOR THE VITAMIX I USE MY DIY DISH SOAP. If you don’t want to scrub and don’t want to use vinegar, fill the container to the brim with water and then drop a few denture tablets. Leave it overnight. It works really well.

I hear you can dump a whole box down the drain to make your drain smell good. Two boxes and bluebirds will build a nest in it. Because it's so fresh.

Baking soda good for putting out small fires, treating heart burn .. mix 1 Tbsp with one 16 oz glass of warm water and drink, cleaning blender, whitening teeth, unclogging sink .. when mixed with vinegar, making white clothes look sharper.. add 1/2 Cup to the load when washing whites, removing ordors of any kind ... sprinkle on offending ordor and let sit,etc.

My mom taught me to use it to draw out bee stingers. Make a paste and spread it over the wound. As it dries, the skin contracts exposing the bee stinger. I also remove splinters this way. The effect is less consistent, depending how deep the splinter is. It's also good for treating poison ivy. I had a severe case and mom had me soak in a tub with a box of baking soda swished in.

The preventative is to dry it completely after use! Once I managed to get mine clean I made sure to do this each time. Also, I applied coconut oil (thinly) to a paper towel and lubricated the inside-which also keeps it cleaner longer and does not make anything I have prepared taste bad.

I've had my Vitamix 7500 since 2013. I have two jars. Both are clear. I'm leaving this comment in 2022. I had an old Vitamix rep tell me to *soak the jar once or month or so with water and drop a Finish dishwasher tablet* (the one with the red ball in the center) in it to soak a few hours or overnight. Then wash and rinse clean. It removes those cloudy mineral deposits and will help prevent new deposits from forming. Hope this helps! ♥♥♥

I just purchased a Vitamix from QVC. I'm researching how to take care of it before it gets to my home. I figured I wouldn't want to put it in the dish washer, so the seals would survive longer. Thank you for this video. I'm going to try to avoid the cloudiness by drying it, as you suggested. Otherwise, it should be pretty easy to take care of.

Baking soda is an abrasive powder so yes, you're going to remove all the stain, but your jar will be foggy forever, unless is a glass jar. On a plastic jar, scrubbing baking soda is like using a sandpaper.

@@kittybeck151 no one said anything about toothpaste but you're kind of wrong about that anyway. Headlight restoration kits contain polish to remove film which is an abrasive paste. Toothpaste is an abrasive paste so it actually does work too but you don't just wipe it on and off you use either a buffing ball/wheel or at crap load of elbow grease. I've done it and it works really well. It has to be white toothpaste not gel. If you just wipe it on and try to wipe it off it will look cloudy. You have to polish it off.... That why it's a polishing paste.

Thank you for the information, I tried it yesterday and it worked on my 7 year old container. I have never cleaned it, nor do I dry it after washing. It took a couple hours and lots of elbow grease but it's beautiful again.

I have found vinegar, baking soda and whatever, useless in clearing up my Vitamix blender. What I have resorted to is washing and drying after using, then giving it a good rub inside with olive oil (any cooking oil would probably work) on a paper towel, avoiding the blade. The blender sits on my counter looking beautiful.

I I soaked my Vitamix blender for 24 hours filled to the top with vinegar. I then followed your procedure and I scrubbed it with a baking soda paste using an old tooth brush. Had no success at all and my Vitamix looks worse than it did before I started.

On my jar the majority of the cloudiness is the accumulation of micro scratches from use over the years. To add insult to injury, my daughter scrubbed it out with a scotch brite pad……..ahhhh.

Thanks for this tip! I'll definitely try it. I tried soaking with vinegar and water for several hours and I was able to scrub off some cloudiness (but not all). Thus, I think that soaking with vinegar and water for 24 hours and scrubbing with the baking soda paste afterwards will do the trick.

I have my Vitamix and several containers for about four (4) years and all the containers look as if I took them out of the box. I use Dawn Dishwashing liquid and water in the container and use the Vitamix to wash as per manufacture's instructions. I rise out the container immediately and hand dry with a microfiber cloth. Then I set the container set on the counter for about four (4) hours for an additional air dry. The microfiber cloth seems to buff the surfaces.

I got the microfiber cloths at Costco in the automotive section. They are used for drying off car finishes. They may be available in other store automotive sections such as a dollar store, etc. I use the cloths also to dry my food processor plastic container, wipe down my electric presser cookers, and my mixer.

I decided to be more dilligent with cleaning and drying my Vitamix in order to avoid getting my container even more cloudy. I was hoping this method would get rid of some of the cloudiness but it did not work AT ALL. To be fair, I performed the vinegar method and the baking soda on separate weekends. So I will try one more time to combine both methods like you guys did. I would be surprised if it did anything this time. If this does not work, I will just accept that it looks cloudy as hell and not waste more time on deep cleaning.

My cloudiness is not from hardwater mineral deposits, it is only inside the container or it would be on the outside too if it was from not drying. Its from the proteins powder I use in my green drinks :(

Exactly! Also everything else left to drip dry would be cloudy -- and it is not. I cannot get the film off the blades either.

@@emc6511 The best thing I found that works is denture cleaner tablets. I throw about 4 of them in there and let them fizz in super hot water. Then I turn the blender on for a bit to help loosen. Let it sit about an hour or so and I go in with one of the body scrub gloves and get in there best I can, It gets most of it off but there are a few spots I can't reach. Hope this helps

I wash and dry my A3500 container every time with HOT water and Dawn soap. I take out the ring every time as well. The hotter the water the better because it cuts the grease and oils from your hands that smudge the container.

I’d read they don’t use the glass as when using high speed to generate heat, such as for soup from scratch, there’s a possibility the glass could crack. Not sure of the accuracy on that info but I suppose it’s a safety measure 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've had my Vitamix for two years and use every single day, and I always dry my container after every use. In the last few months, the container was beginning to appear cloudy in places and was gradually getting a little worse each time I used it. Strangely, we moved into our new house three weeks ago, and suddenly the container became completely coated with the crud, halfway up. Weird. I tried the vinegar soak before when it first started showing signs of mineral accumulation, but it didn't really work. I tried it again a couple of days ago and let it soak overnight. Did not budge the mineral scum. I'm going to try it again, only leave it longer and try the baking soda scrub, too. Wish me luck.

Hey this did not really worked well for me. Indeed i have scratches in my container because I use alot of ice cubes, but after cleaning it with soda and vinegar its still have those dirty mineral spots wich I even cant eliminate with scrubbing. Do I have to leave the soda on for minuits or hours nad then clean it? I love my vitamix but cause of the many edges it really sucks to clean it 🤣

Yeah but how do you clean the bottom part, the part that attaches to the base? Some super thin grooves there that no toothbrush can enter. Ive had my vitamix for about 5 years now and all that part lookes yellow, its awful to look at

Does this work with a plastic container? I think mine became murky after many dishwasher uses after placing in bottom rack, as it didn't fit on top rack. Later I found out, plastic is not good for bottom racks, should always be placed on top. Anyway, does this same cleaning process work with plastic?

I have some questions if you have time to answer. How long with typical home use before you have to replace the drive socket or blade? Are those wear parts covered under the 7 year warranty? Can Vitamix look up my serial number and tell me if the unit is refurbished? How does the self clean mode clean the outside of the container or lid? I ask this because I still like to lightly wash my container and parts by hand after I use the self clean mode.

For sure. Drive sockets/blades very rarely need replacing, and are covered by warranty. Not sure if Vitamix can look it up, but worth a shot, call 1-800-848-2649 Self clean does not clean the outside of the container, a light hand-wash like you've been doing is perfect.

@@LINY Thanks for the reply... I thought you would get the humor of slef clean cleaning the outside of the container as your channel is a bit zany at times. Seriously though thanks for the straight forward answer. I called vitamix and they said you have to send them the whole unit if you want those parts replaced but they are covered for 7 years. I guess people would rather buy the 40 dollar part instead of sending them the machine. They also were able to look up my serial number and tell if it was new or refurbished.

Can I soak the container over night with just coke instead of vinegar? I mean coke cleans toilets I don't see why it wouldn't work on the container.

I'm sure you've fixed it by now but for anyone reading future comments....sun! Last year I stained mine badly making turmeric and carrot soup. I was devastated and thought I'd ruined it forever. Got on google and while there were all kinds of other hacks, sun kept coming back. I left it out on a sunny afternoon and the stain was gone in a couple hours!!! I was gobsmacked. Clear like new and it was solid bright greeny/yellow.

I tried this method just as described. It looked just as bad when I finished as when I began. I then tried everything. Mayonnaise. Cold cream. Bon Ami. Baking soda in water. Vinegar. Durgol (a lime deposit remover). Lysol kitchen spray. Seventh Generation spay cleaner. Lime juice. Absolutely NOTHING made it any cleaner/clearer than it was before I began all the work on it. Nothing. I'm so disappointed. I then went to the Vitamix website only to discover many comments saying that even when they purchase a replacement container, within weeks it becomes just as cloudy as the old one. It's very discouraging. I would be ecstatic to find a glass container replacement, but, apparently, Vitamix doesn't make glass containers. Pity, that. I have no idea what else to try. Mostly, I think, I should just learn to live with the cloudiness of the container.

Can u put the Ascent container in the dishwasher❓ I’ve just purchased the Ascent model A3500i. I have do a regular Vitamix and used to put the container in the dishwasher when it became cloudy. Just wondering if I can do the same with the Ascent container and not mess up the “detectable” thingie.

hi there, yeah, turmeric stains go away if you leave the container sitting in the sun for an hour or so. try that. :)

I used mine to grind some coffee beans and it did perfect job but left the bottom cloudy, I think it's actually hazed from scratches as it was clear before I used it. assuming this !method will not work in my case?

I was looking to remove a cloudy Vitamix container. By clouds I mean, do you know when you luck up at the blue sky? And you see these distinct white patches? I call those clouds. Now this solution did work well in brightening the overall container. It made the blue sky clearer. But any thoughts on how to get the "paper white" STARK contrasted clouds out? I'm guessing I just spilt some harsh cleaner on the thing at some point. Because it looks like splash marks that permanently made clear plastic white. No light can pass through it. It is WHITE.

@@lyranlover6904 No I spilled some type of death chemical on the thing. Like Mineral Spirits, Acetone, Or all of them mixed with Bleach. But if you just get some discoloration by spilling bleach in it then their fix does work. The vitamix pitcher is more expensive than a whole new blender - go figure.

Why not just add baking soda to smaller amount of vinegar, then add water to top and mix? Let sit?

In most cases the jars are just scratched from the inside so these tipd are not applicable. I wonder why Vitamix doesn't make glass jars. Even the cheapest Oster has them.

They break more easily than Tritan or Stainless Steel. Plus, they're heavier than most people want. :)
