Melissa, I'm not sure if you've done these yet but here are a few I would like to know: * how to clean your oven without super strong chemicals * properly washing and drying curtains with grommets * cleaning stand-up fans and portable air conditioners * tips on steam mops or steam vacuums, is it worth it to get an all in one for dog owners? Thank you!
I'm almost positive your dishes are extremely clean because of washing them yourself. I just have never liked a dishwasher. mines the newest there is and I only use it for my rinsed dishes. I sometimes use it for my refrigerator chores and side rails but not dishes that we eat off of
Hey, CMS, happy new 2024 from thousand miles away here in eastern Europe, a small country called Bulgaria. Wishing you all the blessings for this new year, may it bring you entire team joy, warmth in the heart and bravery to make your dreams come true. I am once more getting back to this video as I'm about to do the very little to not at all favorite task of cleaning the dishwasher and I wanted to share how Melissa's trade mark intro sentene "Just a quick reminder if you haven't done already...." has warmed my heart ❤ Thank you for being so trustworthy and dedicated to what you do here, I believe I will be one of hundreds to say what a relief in my life it has been to know that whenever I need to find out or be reminded on how to really get smthg clean I have a place to go without hesitation :) Keep up the excellent work! Lots of thankfulness and love, Neda
Bar Keepers Best Friend for glass stove top cleaner. It's a miracle worker. I recently bought a house from someone that was totally clueless on cleaning. Our stove and oven looked like they were never cleaned. I was able to get every spec of burnt on gunk off our glass top with bar keepers.
Sassy GRITS You don’t need a special cleaner just sprinkle some garden-variety baking soda on spots and spray mix of vinegar and water. Let sit for about until it’s dryish (~20-30min). Wipe with damp cloth. Repeat if needed. You can also take edge of sharp paring knife or razor blade gently scrape areas as needed. I only use EWG approved natural products for few cleaners we have who list all ingredients All else is baking soda, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol. Cheap and healthy. Many brands have chemicals that have never been tested and if they have it’s very short term. Being FDA or EPA approved means nothing.
Three things 1. Great video. 2. How big is that yellow cup it looks so cool 3. Can you please please do a cleaning routine vid or worksheet like what do you clean weekly daily monthly biweekly etc. Ie. When do you clean ur dishwasher weekly bi weekly which days do you do what areas or task/s etc pls n thank you !!
I just cleaned my dishwasher yesterday, omg! It has a removable filter (it is a 20 year old Frigidaire machine that came with the house when we bought it a couple years ago), and it was so gross! I have always wiped down the door, frame, and insides but that was it. Then I went online, found the make/model of my dishwasher and found out that I could remove the bottom arm as well as the filter beneath it and, 🤢! I took everything out, soaked it in a sink of hot, soapy water and took a cleaning toothbrush to it. I also discovered that the water overfill cap lifted up and wiped around and beneath that, my cloth was black! 😱 So I took some paper towels at first to get rid of the worst of the sludge, then a little baking soda and dish soap with the cleaning toothbrush until it was clean. Then I finished off by running the empty dishwasher on the sanitize cycle with a dishwasher tab and some vinegar. Whew! Now it’s sparkling clean!
We use the dishwasher every single day yet we always forget to clean it! Thanks Melissa for always giving us the best tips! ✨🙌 Love all your videos as always!
Erin Docherty when I do my weekly vacuuming I use the hose with the brush attachment and then wipe it wit a damp cloth A small dust pan brush can help loosen up the dirt But yes it gets sooo icky soo quickly Would love her tips
You can use a special track brush or toothbrush to clean it. Or, use the pole end of a broom or mop & wrap a rag around it slightly damp & run it through the tracks 🙂
Erin Docherty when I moved this property the window and door sills were gross. I boilef water and add baking soda and run that through sills then sprayed white vinegar on top. After couple of minutes i wiped with paper towel and then rinse with plain water. And for excess dirty water I used foam sponge and more Paper towels. Voila its super clean. I have brushes for sills for later routine cleaning also. But the one I described above I just used yesterday. If I could post photos you would see before and after. And believe me this cleaning is required only once a year. Rest of the year just wipe clean the sills and thats it.
Can you pls post a video about how to clean under the stove and refrigerator easily in an apartment..which is not an easy job.. I love all your videos and all your tips and tricks really works..thankyou
I came to realize that cleaning the inside of the door at the base of the dishwasher was crucial. Our dishwasher started to leak and it was coming from underneath the door. Called serviceman and we were told that crumbs and who knows what else had accumulated under the door over time. It wasn’t something I had ever known to do but apparently it’s one of the causes for leaking out. Glad I found it early and know how to clean that part of the base door. Every dishwasher is different but not all instructions are provided in how to cleaning particular areas that may become a problem later. Thankfully ours was still under warranty. The extended warranty worked out for our good in the end. Can’t imagine cooking fish in a dishwasher but some people will try anything to make a point. Always love your videos.
5:30 I have also heard about people cooking food in the dishwasher. Now they say to do it after you’ve cleaned it like here in this video and then run another cycle with out any dishes or detergent. That way there won’t be any soap in the dishwasher. But then you can cook salmon like you said or even vegetables in a mason jar(this was a tip for thanksgiving and to help save time.)
I have asked lots of people lots of times, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, how do I clean between the glass of my oven door, do I really have to take it apart, or is there an easier way?
Check the hand of the oven door. You normally are able to unscrew the door hand and the top of the it also. The you can take the glass out and clean the whole inside of the oven door. I did this in my own oven cleaning video showing military spouses how to clean when you have to clear a housing inspection.
Great video! I don’t know if you’ve done a video on how to clean the washer/dryer, but that would be great! My daughter keeps leaving her pen in her apron and now my dryer barrel is all inky, ugh...thanks for all of the inspiring videos, it’s truly appreciated 😊
Was wondering if you have a calendar of all of the “to do” cleanings around the house that need to be done every year and how often. For example clean dishwasher - monthly? Clean washer & dryer, etc. I think something like this would be amazing for a homeowner and would be a great companion to your videos.
I don't know if this is something one would need to call a professional for, but can you do a video on how to clean the lint from the rest of the dryer? (not just the lint trap, but the vents and hoses or whatever else is back there that needs to be cleaned out). I've started to become very aware of the possibility of dryer fires and all I was ever taught to do was empty out the lint trap and nothing else.
I would really like a video on how to clean baseboards in hard to reach areas - like behind toilets and such - when it’s difficult to get down on your knees (age, weight, bad knees, all of the above, or maybe I’m the only one?)
Excellent video. Since spring will be here soon, how about tips for getting your windows - especially the dreaded bottom tracks - ready for open window season?
Agreed, window tracks door tracks, tiny little spaces .... what tools do you use? Where do you get them? Best products to maintain rather than “once a year” spring clean them.
Lisa Doyle Yes I agree. The front of my house faces the direction of all storms we get, snow or rain. I bet there’s something that Clean My Space can come up with to help minimize the gunk.
Sometimes... but only sometimes... it helps to put a sighn on the dishwasher saying dirty or clean. Then you know the dirty dishes can go in. But like I said. Only sometimes.
I clean the filters soaked in bleach solution and scrub with a large nail brush. Remember to clean the bottom edge of the door AND use an old cloth to clear out the gunge left in the drain at the bottom when you remove the filters. There's usually a good glassful of gunk in there as well as the odd bit of food!
I'd love a video on how to clean silicone molds/bakeware like a pro. When I try to clean my silicone muffins cups/ice cube trays, they always seem to retain a funny smell and it's hard to get all the bits of muffin completely off. Thanks!
Alicia Jamieson I’ve had good luck with putting them in the dishwasher. I have the same problem with silicone tray liners and always forget I can throw them in the dishwasher!
I love how you don't use harsh chemicals. We have a grimy washing machine (mainly the top lid and detergent compartments) and I sometimes wonder how to take better care of it. Will try the baking soda and detergent on the rim in any case. Thanks!
This is how my Kenmore serviceman told me to clean my Kenmore. Once a month put 1/4 cup Tang in the bottom and 1 tablespoon in the detergent door and run a regular cycle. (It’s the citric acid that does the job). He stressed that you DON’T want to wash the gaskets, because it will ruin them. I’m curious if Kenmore central told you that you COULD wash the gaskets.
Couches and carpets or rugs like a pro please. My grandmother used to hide presents in the dishwasher so my brother when he was little wouldn't find them. He used to look in all the cupboards but only when he was about 30 did he find out her secret hiding place (the dishwasher didn't get used much back then)
One thing I( noticed that you didnt work on was the door seal on the bottom of the inner hinge area. I have given that a wipe previously and found it is black with gunge . Horrifying at first , then keep on doing it until its finally clean. I also clean( occasionally) the arms the baskets slide out on and in the side of my Whirlpool dishwasher , we have the filling vent ....that gets a good bush too.
I was looking to see if anyone has noticed this problem! After numerous cleanings I finally discovered that the smell in the dishwasher was coming from where the bottom of the door meets the inside of the unit - the whole length of the door. It was full of very gross, smelly gunk. I clean it regularly now - no more smell!
The oddest things I have ran thru my dishwasher are sewing items, ie...scissors, stilletos, sewing feet, bobbin holders, etc. when I quit smoking 3 years ago. Worked like a charm! (just let all those items set out on a towel or something until really, really dry!
TFS!! Hahaha!!! Salmon?!? Interesting! I would love to know how to dust like a pro, clean vinyl floors like a pro and how to clean a bathroom lime a pro!
Thank you for this. You read my mind, I needed a dishwasher cleaning video so badly. Maybe a video on how and how often to clean the top of kitchen cabinets? Mine don’t go all the way up to the ceiling.
How often do you recommend doing this? How to clean the sliding door track. Weirdest thing, bathroom medicine cabinet trays, as a retired preschool teacher I took all plastic toys to sanitize in dishwasher once a month. Soft toys went in pillowcases in the washer.
I would really love to know how to clean a carpet scrubber " like a pro". I clean mine but I would greatly appreciate a "how to" video on how to do it like a professional would. I use mine a lot and I want to not only extend the life of it,but I want to ensure that I'm CLEANING my carpet ...not adding to the yuck and muck😝 Thank you for all your tips!
Sliding door and window tracks are the bane of my existence since I moved to the Pacific Northwest! I grew up in Sacramento and it was not this damp so we could just vacuum; that's not good enough here. They are damp year-round!
How to clean a jacuzzi tub! Preferably with natural diy ingredients that is very effective on the jet tubes biofilm. Tried the bleach thing but didn't see the best results, although I may have not have used enough or let it sit long enough. I'd love to learn some or your pro tips on this topic. Love your channel btw!!🤗
When I saw your video I had just been thinking it was time to run some baking soda and vinegar through the dishwasher which I do from time to time. Then I saw you cleaning the frame etc. I thought, "I don't think I've ever done that!" Was I blind? Omg, the crud! In my (very weak) defense it is a very old off white dishwasher so maybe not as noticeable? Anyway, thank you for this video! I now have a lovely, sparkling clean (not so off white) dishwasher!
First, I love you and this video! Second, I have recently received the honor of being a caretaker for my mother. She has a hard time with getting her poo in the toilet. Sometimes it ends up on the toilet seat or sometimes in the shower. I need to learn how to clean the shower quickly and effectively because I find myself doing more and more. Please help if you have the time.
When I had my granite installed they told me to put rubbing alcohol and water in a spray bottle. I spray and dry the counters and they sparkle every time.
Shirley Kennedy yes, that’s what I use. If the counters are really dirty I wash them with dish soap and water first. I always follow up with the alcohol solution. Most days the solution is just fine.
Weirdest thing I’ve cleaned in my dishwasher are the burner covers from my stove. Ive been doing it for years and they haven’t rusted, so I’m going to keep doing it! 😂
The hat that I wear when I'm out walking or running really soaks up the sweat and eventually gets hard and crusty. I put in over a bowl that is about the same size as my head (so the hat keeps its shape) and wash it on the top rack. Works great!
Thanks for this information. I have found that my dishwasher has an odor. I’ve tried natural products like baking soda or vinegar I have even tried commercial products like Refresh and still after I’ve cleaned the dishwasher several weeks later, the odor returns. FYI I always rinse the dishes first. Any suggestions as to why this could be happening or what I can do?
I would love to see the right way to clean butcher-block counter tops and a self cleaning oven. I see you did one several years ago........updated? Also, I can't wait to clean my dishwasher tomorrow, I see the door sides are yucky!!
You‘d have to hold on to your plate for dear life while pondering seconds... and when it unloads the kitchen is a no go area - so even if I wanted to spring for it - am I athletic enough to dodge the knives? Or would there be a tiny drone to do the work. It would do the work but take all night - like a roomba... And then you forget it‘s update time and the automatic update comes right when it unloads your favorite mug.... And don‘t talk to me about rearranging your tids and bits, because it is a nightmare! And who would dare to rearrange the furniture that holds grandma Ivy‘s favorite dinner service? Sorry, got carried away...
@@tammy3424 Yes! I've done it a few times for my son's caps. I clip them to the top rack with clothes pins and run a cycle without anything else. You might want to take them out before the drying cycle; one of his shrunk after the drying cycle. But I think I had it on high heat, so maybe my fault!
I suggested someone put their (shoulda been cleaned yearly) knick knacks in the dishwasher since that dust cakes on and they're a pita to clean. All that dust might not be the best idea for your dishwasher but it sounded like a plan at the time. 😃 I wanna see if anyone admits to cleaning their "toys" in the dishwasher. LOL Hey wait, that's brilliant! 😂😂
I never thought of cleaning the frame and gasket...guess what I'll be doing today lol. Glad I watched this. We have plastic inside of our dishwasher and it's really scratched up and stained. When it needs to be replaced we'll buy one with stainless steel inside. The outside is stainless steel so its alot easier to clean.
I would like to know how to clean the fridge like a pro. The most interesting thing I put in the dishwasher not weird though, I put my dish brushes and old toothbrushes used for cleaning in the dishwasher occasionally
Last night I placed my greasy barbeque plates in there. Was surprised on how well it did work. I then gave them a spray coat of olive oil once I placed them back into my bbq until next usage.
Great video! I have several things I would like to clean like a pro. How about walls. Here in Florida our walls get dusty and dirty. I swear we have gremlins that come out at night and mess stuff up. 😂🤣
I washed a cylinder head in a dishwasher. It was the final wash after valve lapping, port and polish. So, it would be free of any abrasives for reassembly. It had already been degreased and hosed off after I removed it from the engine. I don't think just yanking any engine components and chucking them right in the dishwasher is a good idea. P.s. my wife said it was alright as long as I didn't break it...
I got out the instruction booklet for my GE/Nautilus dishwasher and all it said was wipe the outside with a damp cloth. I got adventurous and removed the two internal traps. To say the least I almost threw-up, I bet they hadn't been cleaned in 17-years. In my case all it took was a 1/4-inch socket to remove the hex head screws. I will be cleaning them on a regular basis for now on.
If it fits in my dishwasher and it is dirty.... I wash it in the dishwasher. Glass lampshades, small garbage cans, kids toys (that wont get ruined by water) candle holders (once wax free) flip flops, (cheep all plastic ones) usually I “fill it up” with non dish items as its own separate load during a big clean project
I don't think it's weird, but I put my kitchen sponge in the dishwasher, as well as my stove burner plates & the fan grate that collect so much grease. They come out looking great!
Cleaning the nooks and crannies of windows, I live in the UK and have heavy duty double glazed windows ,also exhaust fans (Kitchen and Bathrooms) , I know how to clean them in general but looking for a more deep clean tips / things you do every couple of months ? I normally do a DIY deep dishwasher clean once a month with 1 cup of white vinegar
No matter what I use and how much I scrub or soak my taps have ridiculous amounts of limescale on and around. Is there anything heavy duty that you'd recommend?
Lolalobola - hi! I had that same problem and checked RU-vid. Found a three minute video from a guy (don’t remember his name, I’m sorry I can’t give him credit) who said to soak a rag with plain white vinegar and put it around the faucet, making sure the rag touches the area with the lime deposits. Then pour a little extra vinegar over the rag just to make sure it’s sloppy wet. Then leave it for an hour. That’s the key! Don’t get impatient. After an hour, use the rag to wipe off and clean up the area. I was amazed at how well it worked! I had several faucets I had to clean and three of the four only took one application like this. The worst one took two. Now I do this every couple of months, soon as I notice lime build up. Cheap, easy, and works like a charm!
