Those rats and roaches have been in EVERY house in the neighborhood since he started hoarding! I would be sending the city every single pest control bill!
Yeah I think so too. Assuming the inside look as bad as the outside there’s still gonna be pest animals around, and he won’t fit his stuff indoors so he’ll just start over again on the outside. Poor mom having to deal with this, he’s gonna get her evicted too eventually.
@@jodihouts9560 It's reality, frankly, without mental help, this hoarding will continue. Been through this with my mother in law. The only reason it stopped is because she passed away.
There is a huge point to make….clearly you have never witnessed hoarding in real life. I live next door to one and it gets cleaned up but is back to square one after the county stops worrying about it. It’ll never get better believe that or go kick a rock!!!
@@blue_moon6490 i wasn’t being rude i was just saying its nice its getting cleaned up but i hate it for the neighbors who may have to endure the bugs and rats for a while.
They can't force him to accept their help, they said they're ready but the reporters who talked to him say he keeps saying he's fine. The denial is strong.
My concern is for “mom!” If he has the hoarding issues, then it could put her safety in jeopardy. This might be seen as elder abuse if she doesn’t have safe access to bathroom, kitchen, etc. I hope someone looks in on her. I wonder if he freaked out when they cleared the front. There should be help for him too. 🙏🏼
Sounds like the route to go if this starts up again . (maybe they’ll get on it faster) I like having a young child in the home/elderly person they need better care
This is similar to a news story several months ago about a homeowner in Granada Hills where the son hoarded the home to the same extent and after the city cleaned up the home was back in the news the son started hoarding again.
@@Enirutas I donate to 3 different charities monthly and I give to the homeless in person once per week minimum. Probably more than Warlock Biden or Witch Pelosi. I doubt either of them have ever reached into their pocket and personally donated.
I personally know this man, this man is a stable in the community, he is really down to earth dude. He has a hoarding issue and his personal friends have tried to help but he has push us away, I really hope someone that knows what they're doing sees this and gets the homie the help he needs.
The son is just trying to keep some, so after it's all cleaned up he can un load his car to get more !! Give it 6 months the yard will be full again :(
I agree, it will just revert back to trash again. Hoarding is a sickness. They need help. Not just a cleanup. The city should add the cost of the cleanup to their property tax bill. Maybe that would get their attention.
That’s not how that works it wouldn’t stop him in the slightest bills don’t make people non hoarders it’s a mental illness that stems from other issues.
So the news had to air this before the city cleaned it up after years of complaints?!?! ☺️ I have hoarding disorder and talk about it on my channel. The guy needs behavioral therapy for the hoarding disorder, there is treatment.
Weird that nobody in the neighborhood took anything from his dump. No metal or broken appliances to sell and recycle. Here, in Miami, if your old appliances just touch outside, it'll be gone in minutes. My local food market even steal shopping carts from different stores and keep them as their own. You'll see Walmart shopping carts, Costco shopping carts, Publix, e.t.c.
Dr. Stelios in the UK who specializes in hoarding disorders say that at the base hoarding is due to a traumatic loss and that without proper counselling just removing the hoard can cause more damage. I really hope that the individual and the mother will receive counselling. 💗
I feel sorry for the neighbors who had to deal with this crap. Imagine how embarrassing it is to invite friends or family, at your house, and seeing how your neighborhood looks like.
You should watch the earlier CBS news story that had the drone shot showing the side and backyard filled with trash as well. I hope that gets cleaned out, too.
After my grandmother died, the family got to work cleaning out her house. We filled nine 40-yard dumpsters (biggest you can rent) from her house and 1-car garage. We used a bulldozer for the garbage in the backyard. The big joke was that we would eventually find "treasure" on the property, but all we found was crap that wasn't worth anything.
It's sad that it takes news coverage to get s*** done by the city but it's about time they finally get up and do it, thanks ABC7 you most definitely rock y'all.
Sometimes people are delusional or feel so stuck or have mental health issues or are stuck living in the past. 🤷🏻♀️ Praying for that neighborhood that it all turns out well for every resident and that everyone is safe and happy. 🙏🏻
im 53 and i think im like him....i go around when its garbage day.....but i dispose stuff if i have too many of something already, i only keep the best few pcs .....and i only collects things i like....mostly tools, electronics and bicycles....not just anything
Some people do not have a sense of proportion, so the law is obliged to limit their actions by the norms and rules of hosting. Sanitary epidemiologists should have the right to file fines and sanctions against violators in the courts.
If you are the neighbor, you should build a 30 foot wall between your house and the hoarder house. Even if it is against zoning rules, it's not like they will enforce anything for 10 years.
Where is code enforcement ? They should monitor these repeat offenders, and the first sign of a reemergence slap them with a hefty fine as a warning ⚠️
don’t be surprised if the guy flips out and does something drastic and/or violent. doing this to a hoarder without their consent and semi-suddenly can sometimes cause them to break. i know they didn’t need his permission since it isn’t his house, but it’s still his “stuff” in his mind.
I agree. The hoarder believes you are taking away their precious things. Even trash could have some meaning to them. It's terrible for everyone involved. My MIL was super angry with us but the city was going to step in soon, if something wasn't done. We spent 6 months, nearly every weekend and it still wasn't finished. She became so difficult to deal with that I quit helping clean it up. It was enough to get the city off their back for a little while. Three years later, I had to finish that job, because she passed away. And let me tell you, I threw away stuff that I had already thrown away three years prior! R.I.P. Terrie
Would be interesting to see this fellows lifestyle. Does he just go around to garage sales and buy everything? Does he go to dumps and take garbage out? What's his reasoning for every single thing? Does he have a plan for all this stuff? Is he going to try to sell it off? So many questions! But am truly interested in this man lifestyle lol. He clearly needs help too which is nice that the city has people there ready to help the man. Poor guy has been holding and collecting that for good portion of his life and to see dump truck and bobcat come scoop it all away must have an impact on his mental health.
I don’t understand why it took this city 10 years to finally take action. If this is what their yard looks like, I don’t want to see the inside of that house
So it took media coverage and being on TV for this hoarder to realize that there is something wrong with his brain. I guess the neighbors telling him to remove the garbage and that it’s not normal behavior to be doing that didn’t make it sink in to his head that he was doing something wrong.
They are just throwing everything away! They should have done what the TV show Hoarders did and ask the home owner which Items they want to keep and which items they want to throw away.
The town I grew up in you couldn’t even have a car just setting in your yard with no tag or on blocks. I can’t believe they can get away with all this trash inside city limits
