Sometimes we are totally on top of keeping things picked up and tidy.
Sometimes a reset is in order...
Our cleanup today includes:
-pattern blocks everywhere
-pull-ups in the closet (and on the bedroom floor)
-Anna in her ballet leotard
-Marie with curlers in her hair (Affiliate link below)
-Me saying, "Yours area"
-Marie's "lockbox" in the closet (each of my older 7 has a box like this - non-affiliate link below)
-Purple crayon on the wall that we haven't cleaned off yet 🤦‍♀️ (I keep forgetting to buy more Mr. Clean erasers...adding it to grocery pickup now)
-The Little Engine That Could - one of my favorite children's books
-Blue something, maybe pen? On the back of the bedroom door
-Before and afters of the bedroom
And...
Nutcracker pictures!!
-Our studio does both ballet and tap, so Marie tapping at the Christmas party
-Dancing with the Nutcracker
-Dancing with the Prince
-Anna in the snow dance
-Anna as a gumdrop
-Marie with the Pointe dancers (she's not performing en Pointe yet)

I am so impressed that you didn’t just clean it for them, but actually had them involved and they had assignments and helped out so well!! You are raising responsible, capable, helpful kids and it shows! Also, my kids love to do odd things with their beds, like scoot them around into different orientations…sometimes they have had two mattresses stacked on their kid beds, then they get tired of that and want something different…sometimes they sleep on only sleeping bags on the floor for fun. Rooms are one of the few things kids have some little control over in their lives so it makes sense to let them have a little freedom! I think it is healthy that you let that daughter’s bed be on the floor when she wanted it like that.

The excellent procedures in making order out of chaos you have captured well. You now have a motivation film to inspire your own darling children! I loved the shots of the Nutcracker dancers too. Teaching children to be self sufficient cannot be accomplished in one session. An occasional help from mom is a reminder of how nice it is to have a clean room.

The kids are SUPPOSED to clean up their room every morning right after "circle time" before heading down for breakfast, and they know this (since we remind them multiple times every morning). However, some times other priorities come first and other things like a cleaned-up room fall by the wayside. As Emily frequently tells the kids, you can absolutely do anything, but you can't do everything.

Well done girls, you did such a beautiful job!!!! There's always so much else to do. We have family Saturday morning clean, once a week super clean is all we can manage. Sheesh! Life gets nuts and I have nowhere NEAR 12 children.

The before picture was a little scary. You did a amazing job helping the girls clean up. I was a foster mom and always wanted to keep the boys room clean. In case a social worker showed up.

Why is that one girl sleeps on a mattress on the floor? It seems like you need some major cleaning and organizing.

It's actually a bed frame on the floor. You can see it at 1:36 when I move her quilt to clear the things right next to the frame. She removed her headboard and footboard because she wanted to be lower. 🤷‍♀️ She actually changed her mind shortly after we filmed this, and her bed is back together again.
