I decided to make this video because i had a fiew issues with the pump due to not knowing how to clean them properly and when i was in a koi shop the other day a guy had broken his pump due to not cleaning it properly.
These work in the same principle as a central heating pump (which also gets clogged with crap) but the central heating pump has a capacitor for a kickstart. Great advice to isolated either side of the pump for servicing, and an interesting video all in.
Thank you for all the videos Adam , I first started watching 2 years ago ,you inspired me to build an indoor "pond" with home made RDF, bio aqua-duct, anaerobic bead filter etc ,I only have 5 koi ,but water quality is great and they have grown very well, great information, please keep the videos coming .
I service mine quarterly now after not knowing I could have done so in the past and lost some because it totally burnt out after being clogged. The magnet part has a hole in the center, the white tube at the ends, that gets clogged to the point where you have to soak it and well I use my mouth to blow air through it to clear the “gunk”. Once it’s cleared water passes through easily.
Hello Adam, good video. You where speaking about the gunk after the drum filter caused by the fry. How did you get clear of this gunk, it seems to cause an issue on my system.
Great video,I have just put 2 on my pond, I think they have sorted out a few issues with the pumps, mine has no remote, how often would you clean, once a year
I’ve an Oase 15000 and it keeps stopping and it’s got worse and getting hot it feels like bruises have gone do you think it the impeller shafts I tried pulling it out but it wouldent budge
Hi Adam good info vid, just a few things that I do not think you mentioned the Kinetic energy motor or designed for submersible pumps, they have a start up procedure, that differs from dry side, so you will need to prime unless you have a strong back presdure, if you drop the pump to minimum they do cut out due to pressure issues, the lowest setting will not work I have mine on 5, which never stops. Good vidz..
You have a shed ton of fish in your indoor pond. Is that your personal collection or do you sell from it as well? Also how is your outdoor pond, don't think we have seen it for quite a while?
