Good idea putting the board over the top...not only for holding those ropes, but also for safety as it could break a possible fall. Have you thought to put a ladder down the inside to facilitate easier maintenance and such?
Have you tested the water? I bet it's better quality than the municipal supply. Our tap water was full of microplastics...aka endocrine disrupters that make it hard to lose weight and have been known to increase the risk of cancer. We pumped out our spring fed well like you are doing and then tested the water. It was excellent quality and no microplastics. The tap water had always felt 'thick' when drinking it. Our well water is refreshing and light. It makes your skin feel very clean as well. Our well does get a little sediment, which we filter out. But, we have no regrets about getting off the municipal supply.
