This actually inspired me to try and unclog some of the drains when it rained in my city a few months ago. Granted, all I had was a stick that was lying around, but I *did* get one of them unclogged!
you're doing great work! i wont disclose too much but my grandmother and grandfather live in your vicinity, last year you saved their backyard from flooding! they're elderly and cannot maintain it on their own and had made several complaints to the city with no response. FROM THE BOTTOM OF ALL OUR HEARTS, THANK YOU BROTHER!
I love how excited you get about street drains! It's an infectious energy. I take the same pride in my work as a hotel clerk. It ain't much, but it's honest work.
This dude seriously needs more acknowledgement. Can you imagine how much suffering and financial damages he's saved people from just because he's interested in drains and whirlpools make him happy? You da real MVP, Post. Keep up the impeccable job.
For your question of why there is no pavement there, I can see 2 possibilities: 1. Adjusting the road plan after the pipes were laid: Moving the pipes that the drain drains into is expensive, so when a road is moved a little or (this happens a lot where I live) the road is narrowed to make the pavement wider, the drain remains in the original location but a bit off the road, a bit on the road (obviously changing the drain type to something else from here) or with an indent in the pavement edge. 2. Using natural soaking: Maybe if it rains a little, it would be better if that rain ended up in the groundwater rather than as quickly as possible diverted to a river, to help local plants and to decrease pressure on the wastewater treatment system (in most cities in my country in most older areas drains for toilets and rainwater end up in the same system) so then it would be better for the water to first have to wet some grass and sink into the dirt and if you ofen have small amounts of rain that might greatly decrease the amount of rainwater entering your waste treatment plant, greatly decreasing their cost.
Imagine a whole city is flooded And this man comes in with his trusty rake dives for a drain and saved the whole city Sounds like a comic I would read 20 times a day
and the water will drain he is big brain but still better than the public works department even though he might live in an apartment he help and is underestimated this guy is underrated
@@I_I_I_I_I713 , it is just well should he top-up at shell they'll need his rake and money he'll take hello some friends excepting some fiends let's make him famous just don't be jealous
Friendly suggestion: 2 cameras - one to follow you as you clear the drain on the road, the second set to watch the exit/culvert thing start gushing as you clear the road drain. I'd like to see that.
Great work my man. You must seriously love your community to keep doing the things your city workers and city officials won’t. I can only imagine how many times you’ve probably brought this to the city meetings about the storm sewer infrastructure. With as much flooding that goes on, you’d think your township would allocate funds or conduct a millage to build a better storm system. Either way, kudos to you my guy. Keep fighting.
In the time it took for him to do this, DOT wouldn't have even set up signs for workers present. It would take them a day to come out, 2 hours to set up signs, 4 hour lunch break, 1 hour of standing around, 2 more hours to find the drains, 1 hour to call a supervisor to explain the situation and get approval. They would then call it a day and come out around 1 pm the next day to clear the drains.
Because there’s something about a job that doesn’t involve human interaction and instead dealing with things that you have full control over and doesn’t argue back.
Post, even during a pandemic you're out there maintaining the streets and helping out the community. You're absolutely the best. Stay safe my dude. Much love ❤❤
I'm inspired by your drain-clearing videos. Storm drain clogs in my neighborhood have a much smaller impact, but they're nuisances and they trigger my OCD something fierce. I intend to clear drain clogs in the vicinity of my home with my bow rake when warranted.
Now why would anyone, let alone 1500 people dislike this video? This man deserves an award! Thank you kind sir from all of us who drive down that street!
Hey post, I know you travel light, but we all love watching the water drain. I think we feel warm inside seeing the improvements you make. What if you had a gage that would show the starting level compared to the finish level? Perhaps something like a yard stick mounted to a platform that you place in a deep spot.
Man I was a little confused at first when I realized you were clearing drains as a hobby... then I realized it's totally awesome. I've always had weird hobbies too, so I can totally relate. Keep doing what you do and loving it!
Man, you get me excited about storm drains and water drainage. IM PUMPED!!!..Your passion and enthusiam for it is awesome! We all need to be like you. You're a hero!
I work for the public sewer utility where I live. Thank you for what you do! People are too quick to dismiss what we do everyday. If you want to blame someone look at your mayor and their administration.
A little personal responsibility wouldn’t hurt either! 60 years ago, I watched my neighbor clean his drains weekly. I was 6 at the time, without saying a word to me he taught me the value of keeping my yard free of debris and the drains on my street clean. My husband thinks I’m nuts, but we have a yard that rarely flooded as opposed to the people on the corner across from us😉
I could relate. I like to sweep because a clean room is satisfying for me. Somehow, my friends think I am the weirdest friend for liking things like that lol
This reminds me of my childhood. Lots of rain and playing in muddy lots when houses were being built in my neighbourhood, draining big puddles. I forgot how satisfying this is. You do good work sir.
“The water’s dirty because it contains a lot of dirt” Neither the famous botanist Robert Brown nor the famous physicist Albert Einstein managed to make this connection in years and years of study of particulate matter. Rake-guy is next level.
Morgan Freeman voice over: Although satisfied with the fruits of his arduous labor, Post10 knew that his satisfaction would be temporary. Because even a sunny day can be defeated by storms. And when the rain returns, so shall the debris, clogging the drains in a never ending cycle of good versus evil.
Probably my favorite video of his. From finding out what kind of drain was under the water, and then also from this video the city was informed and they pulled concrete up to the drain, so it wouldn't always be so muddy around it causing it to clog so easily.
We have some wonderful drainage on my street. But one year we had a whole lot of rain and the drain across the street from me got mostly clogged by debris. The water though did go a bit up hill and drained out the next drain. This video now gives me the gumption and know how to go clear off the drain if that happens again. Wonderful job you did! I bet those that live around there were very appreciative.
I've done this exact same thing in North Carolina after hurricanes. I rescued a cat once. It clawed the shit outta me but I kept it from getting sucked out to the Intetcoastal waterway.
I live in Rhode Island and would love to find places to do this. I used to do this all of the time as a kid. At that time I lived in an area that developed very rapidly and had many drainage problems. I have fond memories of swimming laps in the baseball field at our local park because the entire park was under 5+ feet of water. I’m sure the local municipalities hate you for making them find solutions for these problems rather than ignoring them but you’re doing a great service to those communities.
I love how one hand filming and one hand dragging that rake in fast moving water his camera work is still 1,000,000 times steadier than people filming animals in Africa standing still in a non moving truck.
Most likely hes using a gimble, it stabilizes the camera while moving. If he isn't, then thats damn impressive. I've been taking videos for 8 years now and its still hard sometime to maintain a very steady hand
@@chrise842 I did but the original comment was about when he was dragging his rake like at 4:25. Not when he actually working but the way the camera is so stable even though he is moving his hands, is what my comment was about
These videos keep showing up in my recommended tab and I keep watching them because they are oddly satisfying. What an odd subject to start a RU-vid channel around but it works. No BS and I can just turn my brain off and watch you clear some drains.
The videos on this channel are gold! I love the knowledge and enthusiasm of the narrator. I love this lens on reality that few would even know existed. Thanks.
i bet the citys inspection was right after post10 cleared all clogging and be like "man, the last insepction was 3 years ago and its still perfectly clear, lets schedule the next one in 10 years"
You are doing an amazing job with all of this. I love watching your videos. So satisfying and showing a dedication to your community. My hat's off to you!
As someone who has spent their entire life in the high desert, I find these videos to be absolutely fascinating. I can only imagine how it smells being outside with all that greenery and everything completely saturated with H2O.
I’ve lived in both areas, and while I do like to go back to visit, I also love my adopted desert home. During Monsoon season, we do experience flooding here, I just don’t know much about how things get drained here.
Dude LUV THIS CHANNEL❤️🔥So cool to see people just doin good productive stuff cus they dig it. Your a good man 👊✌️😎keep on keeping on brother. You make me miss the NY & NJ woods & shore
Hey Post, I was in the jacuzzi and the jets weren't blowing much water but because of you I looked at the overflow, it was under the water line so I let air in it with my right toe and eventually enjoyed my bath. Thanks
I never really thought about it but you save lives every time you do this Any flooded road someone could hydroplane crash into the woods or flip and drown. Thank your for what you do.
This video shows the fastest whirlpool and quickest water movement into a street drain I have EVER seen from your channel. There may be a larger one but haven’t seen all your videos either. More amazing was the question you asked: Who builds a concrete drain surrounded by dirt ??? WHAT were they thinking??? um......... apparently they were NOT. Post 10, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Videoclip! TYVM.
To answer the question about why the drain is there, it was put in with plans for road widening in mind. Those things are expensive so you don’t want to have to take them back out. Though the road widening obviously hasn’t happened yet.
Bro can I just say you're my hero despite getting little recognition or reward you still do this. And you inspire me to do the same =) your a celebrity to me.
Honestly I'm impressed. Before doing anything, he observes the problem. Finds little hints that will lead to the solution. He doesn't just dive in the water head first (I mean that literally and figuratively), he addressed what needed to be addressed and solved the problem
When I was 18, Hurricane Alicia hit Houston and our street was in major flood. The eye of the hurricane went over our house, so I waded out with a garden rake to pull all the tree branches out of the same type of drain. The street was almost dry when I could see the eye wall approaching and ran back into my parent's home to ride out the 2nd half of the storm.
Same, only it was hurricane Andrew. The drain for our street was in front of our house. Storm hit in the middle of the night so I didn’t run out in the middle of the storm. We had to first cut and move the tree that fell, then I raked out the drain. It was satisfying to watch the street come back from it’s river state.
The amount of views on this video is fu*cking gangster🤘🏼 You’re integrity is humbling and your videos are THE BEST. I refuse to watch anyone else do this job🤷♀️
Hey Post, have you ever thought of developing an app where people report flooded streets/clogged drains and others on the app signed up to clear said drains and floods can go out and fix it? I think enough people would sign up to where it would clear a lot of roads all over the place
Good luck! Get well soon 💜 PS yes Post 10s videos are the best. I've watched them all but when I can't sleep I put them on and I'll pass out after awhile. His voice is so calming!
Nothing like sitting in bed at 3am researching the effects of heat on solar panel efficiency and then coming across a video like this. I wish this bloke well. The world would be a far better place with more people such as yourself.
Thank you for doing this. I try to clear drains from leaves, branches, and garbage in my area. That drain will suck the sticks and debris back in if you don’t toss them/rake them out of the road. That’s what some people forget to do.
If I was part of that Local Authority, then I would try to get this great guy some professional equipment at the very least and some basic safety training (not that he needs it anyway) and allow him to work on a voluntary basis (but a performance related bonus would be great every now and then). If I was not part of their Local Authority but was a resident within that area, I would put forward the above to the Local Authority. If I didn't live in America (which I don't), then I would write the above in the RU-vid comment section, like the video and subscribe (which I did). The Local Authority will not find anyone with anywhere near as much passion and knowledge, in doing what he does. He really is a diamond in the rough.
@sixty seven, I read in his "About" section on this channel that he has had training; he also states it every once in a while. That said, there are things we as citizens/denizens can do to help out in situations like this. --> If it's safe enough
You have entered deeply into the flooded culvert. But something is wrong. The leaves have brought their own reality with them, and the culvert's technology is being subverted by their presence. - Drain II (1994)
In the first age, during the first flooding, when the raindrops first fell, one stood. Drowned by the waters of clogged drains, his soul blistered by the poor city council planning, and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the flooded streets seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the vest of high visibility, and those that tasted the bite of his rake named him... the Flood Slayer.
