A pumice stone works great too, but you have to hose off all of the dust. Citrusafe spray with a course scrubber also cleans the grate well. That 26 red is a thing of beauty! I spray my grates with Pam off of the heat for rust control. Your two-zone chicken cook looked great! I smoke 2 racks of ribs at a time on my 26. It's a great size of kettle.
I appreciate your video. I have the original hinged grate from my 7 year old Performer Deluxe that was getting that slight tetanusesque patina. I was thinking about just replacing it until you demonstrated the heat, brush and grape seed oil infused tampon approach to maintenance. I'm on it..Thanks again.
Just found your RU-vid page. I just picked up a 26" Weber two-tone brown in color for free. Little rough with a small dent on the lid and some porcelain missing. Now that I've seen some of the Weber barbecues in your other videos, i'm not so worried. Will use your info to clean it up and start cooking on it!. Thanks!
The grill grate cleans real easy if you lay it in the (preferrably a little moist) grass for a night, and the next morning it takes much less effort to clean, however you must clean it right after you take it off the grass, dont let it dry up.
Outfuckingstanding! (Only because I saw someone complain about cussing) Great video! I'm a new grill owner. Growing up, my dad always said grilling was a man's job, but I think he just wanted to get out of the house since it was full of girls. lol Anyway, he passed away and none of us know how to grill. I can shoot a coke can from far away, change my oil, and kill spiders (that's an important skill), but I never learned how to grill. I just got a Weber 22 inch and I'm like uh....lol So thanks for the cleaning tips! Don't change your language!
Great tutorial. Love ur oil wiener and chef snack. I wanted to get away from aluminum foil for grilling. Great method. Just afraid do the brush shedding and getting in my food.
Thanks Goldengoddess! I'm not a fan of foil either, to be honest. I grew up with a dad who would foil the whole grate and now I do my best to never even touch the stuff.
Greetings. I hope all is well with you. First time watcher on your channel. I have a question. Can I use other type of oil instead of Grapeseed oil? Have a great safe holiday weekend.
Great video. Just what I was looking for along with Clean and Restore video. Have a major kettle and SM cooker job ahead and watching all your vid's. Thanks, good info. Question - concerned about the rust on the grates contaminating the cook. Should I be after this treatment?
@@Weberkettleclub That's kinda funny though. Don't put your lid on concrete but let your grates rust up and clean them with a few swipes of aluminum foil lol. I'm not trying to be negative but you got to find some humor in that irony. I missed all the brushing lol but Fuck It... I left my comment anyway. Truth be told... I set mine on the concrete all the time too!!
Where do you get accessories for your Smoky Joe and Go Anywhere? I saw a German website that had a rotisserie and different grates and rack systems for both grills. I don’t speak German and it’d probably cost a fortune to import into the states.
Hi. I’m trying to determine the approximate year of my 26” red kettle. Very similar to yours. Eight inch steel wheels, wooden top handle, thumb screws holding legs on. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.
You'd need more than one chimney to light all the briquettes at once. Also, starting with some lit briquettes and allowing them to light the unlit ones gives a longer, more steady-temperature burn.
Why do you think that you can get your points across better with using foul language. Do you ever think that younger cooks may want to learn how to do what you have shown? Personnaly I don't like foul language either so unless you clean it up, I won't be back. Hope you don't eat with the same mouth you talk with!!
I understand, your lack of concern for young folks and folks in general, shows that you are really lacking in any kind of morals. Rave on big mouth, it truly matches you I. Q. which in number is almost equal to the number of briquetts you use. Oh yah, don't forget to wipe your mouth!!!
William. You seem to be offended that I am not taking your advice. Does this upset you? You are now marginalizing me as a person and insulting my intelligence and my moral being, simply because you do not like how I talk. In my opinion, this type of behavior is far more toxic to society and other human beings than foul language. So you see, I DO care about others. I just don't believe in going around telling other people how to live their life or do their thing. I also don't believe in attacking another person or insulting them when they don't live their life the same as I. Have a good motherfucking weekend.
