Great video. Can you please do one on diesel fuel injectors (maintenance and replacement)?

Great video, I don't know would it work, but i would give a shot to hydrogen peroxide and UV led light, basically you get big enough container to completely sink the item, you put led strips around container, and on top of that aluminium foil so it reflects light better, you secure the item on bottom via something heavy and pour hydrogen peroxide in container, turn the uv light on and let it sit for at least 24h or more. I have seen it remove yellowing from white plastics like old computers, keyboards, playstations, AC units....

Thanks, yes that was my though, I read somewhere that it can be done that way, but I ran out of steam...

Notice that the tank is not yellowed like old computer cases - check the center rings when two halves of the tank meet, it's white. The tank sits under the hood and UV light usually do not make it there hence it's not the "retrobriting" problem. The yellowing is from the rust. I doubt hydrogen peroxide will do anything to it.

you can also use used coffee grounds instead of rice. make a thick slurry with tap water and just shake until clean. make sure to thoroughlt clean, dry and blow it with compressed air afterwards. beach sand is also a good option but will likely put a haze on the plastic if its too transparent

did you add coolant after all that?

Rice works really well. You need to shake it really good and then all the debris coming off.

It should be possible technically with that acid and uv light or something, saw it before literally transform yellowed plastics

I guess I'm in luck since it's only $23 for a brand new bottle for my car and honestly even if I could find something cheap to clean it would it be worth the trouble vs just buying a brand new one?
@dennisjump8655
@dennisjump8655 Год назад
Same here. $30 bucks for mine. You will never get the old tank to look 'new'. A waste of time.
@HAL-dm1eh

@@dennisjump8655 Yea I tried during a thorough coolant flush since this comment. An amazing amount of nastiness came out, and it's still so stained I can't see where the coolant is. I'll buy a new one eventually.

with the prices of petrol at such heights, it's a shame to see it been used to clean a plastic container 🙂. Possibly you could have traveled 50kms with it... But then again it's a V6 Turbo, so money well spent.

just buy a new one its not expensive. the whole point of the container is for it to be see through so you can see where the coolant level is. the chemical treatments have made it more opaque.
@arcgarage

@@arcgarage ahh I see, it's over $100. I think a mechanical solution to cleaning would be better. Perhaps those ikea diswashing brushes, heat up the sticks and bend them so you have ones like horshoe, and others that are slightly less bent to get to all the crevices
