Cleaning, Depression, & Christians | This Is So WRONG! 

My momma told me this: being a Christian doesn't mean we won't face hardships, but it means that HE will help us get through those hardships. ❤

I'm 59 and lost my dear daddy in August 2021 a bit by surprise for our family. In April 2022 I lost my husband of 32.5 years and that was an absolute life changer. We had been on a decluttering journey to prepare for retirement and downsizing. All though I have chucked quite a bit since his passing. It caused more clutter by pulling things out and trying to decide whether or not to keep. As far as being a Christian I have struggled with the passing of the two most wonderful men in my life in short time of one another. I also understand that, Jesus suffered all the way to the cross so he knows my pain and carries it. That doesn't mean I won't grieve and all out cry while missing my loved ones. I do look forward to seeing them again in Heaven. Great vlog.

My sister (biological) thought that when I became a Christian I wouldn't have any more problems of struggles too, but after I had explained it to her & my hubby & me helped her in a bible study I'm glad to say we led her to Christ & she has accepted Him as her saviour & Lord 😍🙏 great video thank you x

Loosing a family member takes 3-5 years to process. It takes a couple of years to physically recover from extended hospitalizations/funerals/settling estates, etc. Hospice recommends to not make major decisions during the first year after a loss if you don’t have to.

One of my favorite Bible passages is Zephaniah 3:14-17: 14 Sing, Daughter Zion; shout aloud, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem! 15 The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm. 16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. 17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Can you picture the triune God rejoicing over us with singing???

It rains on the just and the unjust. Rain can be good and bad. Thank you for keeping it real. I know we all can relate to the season you're in.

I have some chronic health issues and stopped posting on Facebook during a difficult time. I had 1500 "friends" and in 6 months, no one reached out to see what happened to me. I have had to lean on my faith like never before. I get so much out of your videos. Thank You!

Excellent video. I can't even put into words, without typing a novel, to thank you for speaking the truth & confronting this issue. Thanks to the prosperity gospel so many have a completely twisted & skewed vision of what Christianity is & what it means. Add to that that people don't study, or even read their Bibles anymore & you have a recipe of disaster for us personally & as a nation. More honest videos like this, please.

The thing the breaks my heart the most when the teachings of Christ get twisted and used to hurt people. You did a fantastic job explaining why that comment was inaccurate. I lost my dad 45 years ago. I still miss him. But I know I’ll see him again one day. As my pastor says: there will be a reunion!!

Amen! I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life, and have been saved since the summer of third grade at church camp. Reconciling my mental illness with Christianity can sometimes be very hard in my mind. No matter how bad my depression and anxiety might get (something that I have little control over, even on medication), I always know that there is love and hope in Jesus Christ. He is there in our struggles.

Thank you for sharing God's redemptive love! He has taught me so much about love the last several years. Although I had read through the Bible a couple of times, it rocked my world when I read and understood in John 17:21 that God loves me/you/us AS MUCH AS HE LOVES JESUS. "I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17:23 NLT Romans 5:5b also tells us, "For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Thank you for making it a point to share, there is "no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Mary Beth, thank you! I know you prayed over this before going on air. During my tines dealing with depression its my hope in Christ and knowing I sm a daughter of the King and Jesus is there preparing for me a life I couldn't imagine. I think practicing daily gratitude has played a huge part of my recovery. now when I do battle with depression I go back to the Word fir those reassurances.

God is so amazing. I am battling deep dark depression, anxiety, and hoarding. He brought me to your video. I needed this. God is right beside us through it all. He feels what we feel. He doesnt want us to suffer but we do have free will and make our own choices. In my opinion all our suffering and depression and anxiety and all the bad stuff is the product of all the years humans have made poor choices and we are destroying our world and each other. And of course we are born sinners but we got to do better. His way is the only way. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me and everybody else. I love you more than anything. I just came across your video and so glad I did. I'm a Christian as well. We spent over 30 years in a church that taught that if you are suffering it's because you are not in God's will. We started doing foster care and our pastor came to our home and asked us to give back some of our foster kids because it took to much time from serving God. Well we left that church, and were shunned by friends and family. We ended up adopting 6 of our kids. The church we now attended has been amazing. They have stood with us through the good, the bad and the really ugly times. and have shown us what real Christians are. You are so right, Christian aren't perfect and we will have heartache but God is always with us and he will give us the people we need to help us through. this is why God said... put on the whole armor. We are all going to need it.

I finally have bandwidth to check out your Bible study looking very forward to it. Of course you face bouts of mild depression especially now and you voicing that is powerful modeling. Yeah people’s words hurt. They leave a mark. And there’s manmade vs god made words. Thank you for not letting manmade words stop you from doing what you do. 🇨🇦❤️

Christians like this almost killed my faith… I already have suffered from low self esteem, depression and anxiety…. I don’t need someone’s doctrine telling me how terrible and unworthy I am in Gods eyes. Ugh doctrine of devils. I was so sick and couldn’t walk for 9 months and I’m only 33 with 3 kids. Suffering is from the devil not from God. We don’t suffer for Gods glory ugh. That would make God like Satan. God can USE sufferings for good… but it’s not from Him. Once I got that lie out of my head I was healed of everything.

Thank you for this truth and heart-filled message, my sister in Christ! May God bless you and strengthen you and meet all your needs in spirit, soul and body. I spent years in deep depression-no support except from my wonderful husband. My Christian friends showed no mercy-well, they did for a minute, but after the "bandaid" scriptures they offered didn't seem to work-they abandoned me. My best friend told me she wished she had the luxury to lay in bed all day-this after I spent 15 years being a major support for her. But like you said-God was my Heavenly counselor (was even betrayed by one of my counselors-long story)my comfort, my teacher, etc. and after many years and many inner heallings-He led me out of that deep pit, Praise His Name! I heartily agreed with the truth and wisdom of all you shared. How lovely would it be to be able to be totally honest with how we are feeling and not to be shamed that we must have sin in our life, or "snap out of it", or the multitude of non merciful and empathetic things we hear from Christians and non-Christians alike-! I would come help you clean if I lived nearby....

I love this video! I have heard people say things like Christians shouldn't be depressed, or it's okay to go to therapy but you shouldn't have to go for years. Those people don't know what they are talking about. Fortunately, I have had support from our pastors, leaders and friends encouraging me before to keep asking the doctors for help with medication until they get it right. Yes. It is okay to take medication too! I have a christian counselor as well. I had one counselor tell me before that" everyone needs counseling, they just don't know it." I am certain everyone could benefit. She told me this when I asked "how come I need to go to counseling for so long, and others I know don't?" My current counselor has said "If it (counseling) helps you, then keep going. Sometimes we need more tools to deal with life. Sometimes it is because of major crisis points in our life. Life is hard. We all need support from somewhere. Counseling is a great place to be seen, heard, and understood with compassion and no judgement. Thank you for addressing this subject.

Great video. This is me in a nutshell. I am learning that "He is God and I am not". "Sometimes blessings come through raindrops. In the heaviest rain, God gives you the brightest rainbow." These little sentences popped into my mind one time when I was going through a lot of personal stuff and we had this huge thunderstorm with a huge amount of rain and then the brightest of all rainbows popped out at the end. I remember thanking God for His safety through the storm and realized that He is with us through all of our "storms". I think it is good to back off of things, to hit the reset button when we are going through depression. I think that maybe God wants us to just be quiet to let His presence slip in for the emotional healing we need.

People say “why me?” I’m a Christian? Well, why not you or me to have big difficulties? To have the creator of the universe at our rescue is so comforting. But we have to believe it .I can’t thank you enough for your video today. I’m struggling with Covid and my house is a wreck. I’ve not been able to attend 2 events I waited for for months. But Jesus is here with me and I have to move in His timing!

So glad you did this video! Everything you said here was spot on what I thought when she said that in the video!

It's really hard to feel alone in your pain, but it's even harder to feel unknown in your pain by people who are supposed to know and love you. Suffering always lasts longer than we want it to, but sitting in someone else's suffering with them teaches us more patience and compassion. This is how God feels towards those who are weeping and mourning. 💕

Thank you for sharing❤ I needed to hear this and I'm do happy to have found you. I dont have a big support system, just me and hubby. I'm coming out of a long depression and sharing my journey as mom of 6. I felt a lot of guilt and shame and was hesitant to share but wanted others to know and see it's possible. I have faced a few that think there is no excuse and to just push through. I left my relationship with Jesus slide and once I saw that and made an effort to fix it I saw a huge change in me and my home.

I understand your situation very well. I've just retired due to failing health + my son also moved far away last autumn. 😢 I'm so lonely I could die!! It's a song but it's also how I'm feeling. I need a kick in pants!! 😆

I saw the video you're talking about! It landed on me really weird. I am encouraged that the red flags that come up for me have validity.

Thank you, thank you! I have bipolar disorder and although I have worldly success, I have been told that my illness is caused by my sin and family sin. I don't believe that at all. We live in a broken world. Illness happens. Although I have prayed and continue to pray for healing, God has not miraculously healed me. He has a greater purpose for me. And I have been able to help many, many people - including non-Christians - because I can relate to their experiences. I teach workshops on mental health. And although I still pray for healing, I know that ultimately, He is sovereign and has my best interest and will do that thing that is for my best. God didn't cause my illness, any more than He caused someone to have cancer. And bipolar like cancer is an illness that it's not my fault. So, thank you for your video and your affirmations. Very brave!

I'm impressed with this. I suffered depression. For many years. Put my husband through the ringer. I came back to the Lord in the last 3 years(I got saved young, but life and bad theology in the family did a number), and He walks with us throughout everything, sometimes he even carried us through, but no Christian is worry or problem free. This was really excellent. I pray many people see this.

Oh my goodness!!! I think I saw that video! I almost commented but felt it would take a lot of energy and commenting to make any impact with that RU-vidr (that I didn't have energy for). Yes, I was looking for motivation and that was alarming to see. SO THANK YOU for doing this.

SO GOOD, Marybeth! 1 John 4: 9 says it all: And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him". We are valuable; He made a way! Also, Jesus told us that is this world we would have trouble. But then he said, "Take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33). Re: depression...the same goes for anxiety. I have had a few times of great stress in my life (like when my husband was in end-stage liver failure and waiting for a transplant, I was also coping with big changes at work) where my body just went into anxious overdrive. It didn't matter HOW MANY TIMES I read Scripture about fear and worry, I couldn't calm my body down and literally lost the ability to fall asleep. I developed chronic sleep anxiety (I'd be dead if it wasn't for a sleeping pill). It's like when people tell those suffering from depression to "just get over it"...WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY'RE TRYING TO DO? All I could do was turn to Him daily. It took me a good 6 months to feel better and about 8 months to get off all the medication. That was in 2013 and yes, hubby had his transplant and is still doing well 9 years later. I now know that my serotonin levels were low due to all that stress. In your case, you are still grieving and need to take all the time you need. THANK YOU for this!

I saw that video too. Wanted to watch it because I’ve seen that RU-vidr show other things that I appreciate. And some of the things that this person said in that video were helpful. However, when the topic of Christianity that you address here was brought up in that video I got riled up just like you did! I’ve had several conversations with that RU-vidr (only in my head) for the past week or two. I hope that others who saw that video, and were hurt, also find your video and good word! 💖

I can relate to a lot of what you said. None of us are built to endure what we have endured for the last 2 1/2 years. And it doesn't look like it's over anytime soon. It's a constant and wearing backdrop that I believe affects us a lot more than we realize. In the face of so many changes, taking care of house work feels like a much bigger effort. Almost meaningless in the face of what's going on in the world today. But there are positives in all of the stress and uncertainty, A lot of us have had the need, maybe for the first time in a while, to completely depend on God's provision. Whether it's the loss of loved ones, the loss of livelihood or business, losses in general physical health, and the grinding presence of the world changing almost beyond recognition… And sometimes frighteningly similar to the end times. I think most of us who looked forward to that in the past didn't realize how stressful it can be when it goes on for years. Focusing on "seeking the kingdom of heaven" and serving others and making a point of finding joy and God's blessings every day has been important for me. Being less physically able to accomplish as much has been difficult to accept, so setting realistic goals and routines and being patient with myself has been really important. Not everyone feels that being an undeserving sinner is a negative. But if you do, check scripture and get that straight. Realize that sinful, unbiblical patterns of thought affect us all, and I'm pretty sure they have to be present in some way shape or form if we are depressed. I need to take my own advice about that more than I do: to ask God to show me where I'm wrong in my thinking, and sit with him as he reveals it to me. Spending time just praising God, continually reminding myselfof how great he is, his wonderful qualities, his heart for the world, those things help put focus back where it is supposed to be. Because life is supposed to be all about him. We are supposed to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That sounds like a team effort. We need to be putting good and renewing things into our minds, and while sanctifying is the job of the Holy Spirit, I think a little cooperation can speed the process a little! Thank you for sharing. Realize that a lot of us are going through similar feelings and similar devastating losses. It seems as though a lot of us are in that phase of "weeping may endure for a night," but that God promises us that our mourning will be turned into dancing. That joy comes in the morning. I feel as though this is a time for weeding and pruning things out of my life that don't serve his purpose. Painful, but the project should be beautiful when it's done!

Mourning and grief take time. Here in America we often don't make time for that. Be kind to yourself. I do have a chronic illness. I had to learn to roll with the punches and accept that some days resting was the priority.

I find it interesting that your channel popped up in my feed. I can definitely identify with some of the challenges you have been going through lately. I am a woman of faith and believe we are judged at higher level when it comes to hospitality and how we maintain our homes. I lost my Mother then my only sister in a period of two years and the sadness was intense. The joy came back as I made a new start in a new position at work then just when I was back on the fitness kick COVID restrictions came and my social life again came to a standstill. Now as restrictions are being slowly lifted I am finding my spirits lifted however my home is in disarray. I have plans which don't work unless I do!. If your channel can offer me some encouragement and helpful information I would greatly appreciate it. It is depressing to hear about the economic downturn forecasted however I believe this a time when we must prepare ourselves for what's to come.

If you are attending a church where you here over and over again, that you are a sinner, a hopeless sinner, You need to FIND YOURSELF a BIBLE believing church. (totally thought you were going there with this. I had to go there.)

Hardships sometimes are nothing but a good pruning. A good pruning produces great growth in the right places.

I saw that cleaning video as well and thought it was terrible that she blamed the Christian church for depression and thus not cleaning. The truth is people from all faiths and even athiests suffer from depression, horde and don't clean.
