Brilliant wee review Mark!, it’s puzzling me why the instructions recommend 10ml in a 500ml foamer yet 10ml in a 20L bucket , I’ve used this as you know at half that dilution and get a slightly more creamy wetter foam then you got which I prefer, just goes to show you can push it just that little further if you like. Loved the tips and as always. Unbiased and simple to understand , hope next weeks one’s on time 😂
Judging by some of the comments I don't think there's 2 IK foamers that do the same thing 🤣 but I do agree, 10ml to 500ml in the foamer Vs 10ml to 20L in the bucket just seems bizarre! 🤔 As for next week, already working on it 🤣👍🏼 Thanks Graeme 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm still wading through V1 but have V2 on the shelf, ready to go. I have water as hard as granite, so I'm usong a wee bit more than 10ml per 500 but its no great shakes. Loving the return of QTT. All the best Mark.
Great video. Also, i really enjoy how you get involved in the comments. I pick up so much from your interactions with others. I'm a AB Just Wheels convert. Love the stuff. Super foamy and long lasting. May have to give this a punt next time. However, to use up my Halfords Advanced(?) Snow foam, i may mix that with GT1 Shampoo, just for an experiment. Also, carrying on our Autofoam smells of toilet cleaner😂 discussion, Touchless is my new go-to. Can't wait to see what you think of that!!!!!! Thanks again!
Haha I just like to put the effort into my replies rather than just say "thanks for that", or some other generic reply 😂😂 Funny you should mention Just Wheels 🤐 let's just say you won't have long to wait for that one! Although spoiler alert, there isn't much to choose between the 2 so for most people it'll come down to which brand they prefer lol That sounds like an interesting experiment!! I did like the consistency and dwell time of Halfords Advanced Snowfoam so it's worth playing around with lol it was the lack of any visible cleaning power that let it down when I tested it! I was going to leave the new Touch-Less for a while but I think I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and get some aren't I?! Thank YOU for your messages, always a pleasure 😊👍🏼
Well what can I say about this any day except Tuesday review 😂 it was like all your reviews a very genuine unbiased review of a product keep up the great work Mark and maybe try to get in on the correct day 😂😂👍
Great video again Mark, i was the same as you with this product thinking was it really needed however with the better dilution ratios it just means i need to spend less money.
Love the video mate and all the little tips and tricks. Still using up my v1 but ill consider v2 when i need some or maybe yry something else if i can find something to take my fancy
For maintenance cleaning there's definitely little to choose between GT and the AD one, really just comes down to preferred brands or scents lol I've used a few others and these 2 are definitely top of the pile 👍🏼
Another great Quick Test Tuesday Mark 👏👏. I'm still using V1 as I bought 5ltrs thinking that I'll go through it quickly err spoiler alert...I haven't. If V2 is just as good if not better then it's going to be on my shelf too as I absolutely love it.
It's a good maintenance product that is quite enjoyable to use but as ever it's always debatable how necessary it is when decon shampoo or a strong APC is also available with potentially a cheaper cost per wash ratio
That's a good point but I think it's more about what people enjoy rather than what's necessary - I love Decon but it is a strong product - this is much more gentle and if people at home can get away with a weekly wash at 10ml per wash, that's 1 bottle per year at £11.00 (or even less per year if you buy a larger bottle!) - so really the cost per wash becomes pennies regardless 👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos Agree with you. It's a luxury product for enjoyment and maintenance on a nice set of alloys. Could make the case for a weaker dilution of Decon. Comes down to horses for corses I think. Some people do align to a brand so it's something they want to stick to. I'm tunnel visioned as a weekend warrior that wants to maximise value for money vs performance so I'll always stick to surfex HD which will do a better job on tyres IMO plus the anti corrosion properties within it are valuable as cars age with time. This is still a good video that's been well made and entirely valid. Opening the discussion around is a good thing.
I have said time and time again that everyone has to do whatever suits them for enjoyment & getting value for money. Personally I've tried to avoid aligning with any brand as I feel I could be missing out on so many enjoyable products - I have a full range from about 4 or 5 brands that I use regularly, plus various products from countless other brands. I used to use Surfex flat out myself before RU-vid but there are better value for money products out there that I also find more enjoyable (which also contain rust/corrosion inhibitors).
I wouldn't say GS is more cost effective or enjoyable - I'd actually put the 2 in the same category for usability and LC is a bit more expensive for 5L but not much. But for better value for money, as a pre wash for an absolutely filthy car, covered in salt, traffic film or whatever else, I use A-Kem PreClean... At 1:30 it's stronger than Surfex at 1:10... And it's the same price as KC GS for 5L. And in terms of engine bays, wheel cleaning - everyone raves about Surfex at 1:10... but, and I'm not suggesting buying GT over Surfex, but Decon is just as effective at 1:20... given that 5L is twice the price but you only need half as much, tmit works out at the same price 🤷🏻♂️ As for enjoyment, well that's a subjective thing and that's why this is such a popular hobby to discuss as much as get involved in - we all enjoy different things and that's the best part! So my point is not to say that you should choose this or that over Surfex, my point is that Surfex isn't the be-all & end-all product that some people like to make out 👍🏼
I liked using the first version of this and like you I didn't see how they could improve it at all. I have been using a variety of comparable products recently like AutoBrite direct & lately the Mitchell & King product that wasn't in their lineup but was added at my request and I used it on my neighbours car yesterday as a wee surprise for him as I had some left in the bucket. In case anyone was worried there I was using 2 buckets with grit guards and no sponges. His gloss black alloys took on a very clean appearance but I give them a quick dry with GT QD and then they took on a real shine. I had not been using GT products for a while but have used a few lately and they are really good. I don't know why I stopped using them.
It's always good to use different products John, and just because we have favourites, doesn't mean we can't enjoy others 😊 There's a certain immaturity in some people in this industry when grown men become 'fanboys' of certain brands to the point where they develop this tribal mentality and feel the need to only use that brand and refuse to accept that others might be just as enjoyable 🤷🏻♂️🤣 I am not one of those people and I'm glad to hear you aren't either 👌🏼 in fact, I've also used the Autobrite Wheel Shampoo too but there's a video coming VERY soon on that so I won't say any more 🤣👍🏼
I look forward to that to see how you rate the difference between the two products. David McBay recently used the AutoBrite product and that is when I started using it as I have a lot of their products and again I have not used some of them for a while. I hope it is a good spring for detailing so I can use some products and get my cars up to my standard of cleanliness.@@SparkleanAutos
I'm in 100% agreement with you John - over in NI the weather was atrocious from June onwards last year (which is a large part of the reason I got so few videos recorded!) - I really hope we get a good year lol
Never used it. I've always been content using the foamer with Surfex HD. But with the dilution ratios of the GT product, you've given me an option. Seems to be very cost effective.
This is (wheel shampoos in general actually are) MUCH gentler for maintenance cleaning than Surfex and much more pleasant in terms of lubrication & smell alone lol! This is one product I would definitely recommend trying 👍🏼
Finger contamination 🤢😂 Great video, Mark, and yes, V1 was a great product, but made better with enhanced lubrication, tweaked cleaning power, and better dilution ratios
Hello Alan and thank you. I'm not sure if there's some conflicting information out there but Wheel Shampoo V2 DOES contain rust inhibitors - see the 'Features & Specifications' section on their website - www.garagetherapy.co.uk/product-page/one-wheel-shampoo-v2
@alantaylor2 well I can't speak for their website updates, not my horse or my carriage, but I've always thought that information was there lol I was certainly made aware early on that this contained rust inhibitors - and knowing GT I don't see why they wouldn't highlight that from day one as it's a particularly important selling point for wheel cleaners 👍🏼 anyway, glad I could help 😊👍🏼
Never quite understood the reason for wheel shampoo. I normally foam the wheels with autofoam and then use squid ink car shampoo for the contact part of the wash. Cleans my black wheels very well.
If your system works for you then stick with it - I like trying different products for difficult things but I also like to think of a wheel shampoo as basically a hybrid of a sprayable wheel cleaner and a car shampoo - I know that isn't even close to chemically accurate but that's how it works and I like using them for maintenance cleaning 👍🏼
@greymark420 I'm sure sometimes they do lol but I've been using this one (and it's predecessor!) for 4 years now and I used HDD Brake-Thru before that - maybe it's a placebo, who knows, but they cost pennies per wash and I enjoy using them... at the end of the day, what's more important than that?! 😊👍🏼
Intermediate - I've always just stuck with it tbh but you're not the first person who's said this! I think, from what I've read, these foamers seem to be a bit hit & miss 🤷🏻♂️
In fact I've literally just had a reply from someone on here who had a similar issue and they've just advised me it was actually down to a missing o-ring on the purple nozzle 👍🏼
The only dedicated wheel product I keep these days, if I need a stronger wheel or tyre cleaner I’d use decon or another APC but for these usual maintenance cleans like yourself I find wheel shampoo is effective both in cleaning and cost 🧼
It really is Nick - arguably a lot easier on your skin too! There are a few decent ones out there too, some maybe better than others, but it's definitely better to start off with a gentle shampoo rather than go straight in with acid or reactive wheel cleaners!!
