Amazing video! My lamy safari was not working for about a year. I cleaned it multiple times and didn't know the feed was removable till i watched your video! Pen works perfectly now, thanks so much for sharing!
@@futureherberia No!!! So sorry. Take a look at the nib under a magnifier and see if it looks like there is a little space between the tynes. You may have to swap the unit out. So sorry.
Just gave the nib and the barrel 2 thorough rinses, dried them and everything was fine transitioning from black to green ink. Complete disassembly not required.
You didn’t show how we have to slide the feed correctly back in to the grip. I think it is very tricky to do it in the Lamy Safari. Recently I didn’t do it properly and the feed got struck up and I couldn’t take it out. When I attempted to pull the feed out using pliers I managed to break the feed. The remaining portion is inside the grip. I don’t know how to take out that piece. So I lost the feed as well as the grip. Can anyone tell me how to take out the broken piece?
I have the mango safari too! I love it. You’re right it’s so durable. A great travel pen! I really enjoy your content and can’t wait for the next video! -Simon
Using rubber medical exam gloves can really help in keeping your hands/fingers free of ink and can be used for many cleanings if you are careful when removing them.
Goulet recommends not really messing with the feed unless it’s necessary. A lot of options for it to go wrong. My feed was oriented slightly off on reentry and got jammed. Then snapped clean off trying to pull it out. Clearly I learned my lesson but just a word of warning for any other new people trying this. Nonetheless a good video even though my experience ended tragically
I just came here to say the same thing - it's perfectly safe apparently to pull the feed out and clean it but with no instruction included on the proper orientation of putting it back in the grip, I managed to wreck two of them - was cleaning two pens at once. Really an expensive mistake I made by following your video assuming that all the relevant details were included.
Thank you for showing exactly what you do to clean, helpful indeed. I noticed that you do not have many videos about inks, perhaps you may consider making a video explaining which inks you like or dislike and why. There was one video where you said that you do not like Noodler's ink, but you did not go into why that is the case.
I have a Lamy that looks just like yours. It’s plugged and I can’t remove the nib. Should it come off all the Lamy’s or do I maybe have one that I can’t remove the nib? I don’t find any marking that says anything but Lamy. Thank you for your help.
