i would agree, i told a buddy to replace his, tried it with his GTS T r32, and he went through 3 sets of bearings because he didn't want to replace coolers
@@brunobossio2388 Some people have cheap and stupid confused. Cheap is buying and replacing what you need to replace, stupid is reusing parts that you know can(will) cause problems later.
@@RADPotential There is just no way to flush all the metal out of the cooler. Even if you do your best, the hot oil and pressure pulsing while running will loosen up particles not removed with even the most thorough flushing.
ohshit i didnt realise you were doing a hybrid build haha. Currently in my own hybrid build but I'm going the NA way to see how that pans out, got the 6 port engine with the gsl-se housings, currently having some issues sourcing the carbon apex seals that i wanted but it seems some company in australia has them in stock haha. Hope ill get it screaming at 11k before long :))
I am in the process of doing the simple oil mods to motor, drilling the oil passages to 3/8 in all the stat gears, and doing the front plate mods for external oil feed. I think i seen the RB block off on your rear iron, so im guessing you did that already ?? Also i had the stupid oil ring fail on the front cover since i have s5 block, im going to machine either a sleeve or make a custom washer out of metal press fit in there to i dont kill my oil pump again.
Ben Thorn from Gears and Gasoline is looking for someone to port his rx8 motor, perhaps you could get a bit of a channel boost if you guys made something work. You definitely deserve the views!
Are you able to fit 2 rx8 oil coolers until your certain of no more metal contamination, possibly saving your spare original for then. I also thought lucky 7 racing (sorry it's Atkins) had gaskets for the hybrid conversion. Anyway nice to see things moving on, enjoyed your rally experience. 😊
Throw the LS COILS away..poor upgrade, type c rx8 will out perform them on the dyno, LS COILS aren't designed for a Rotary with spilt ignition..most people change them back within 5000km when you end up with rough starts, burnt out or fouled plugs. Type c will do 150,000km.. I haven't read of anyone getting close to 20 with LS NGK make a good coil for rx8s..
