Pretty sure you need to clean tbe heat sink as well. You need to go deeper, mine keeps shuttimg of as well and i need to clean but worried about going in deep @mr.sir155

It’s a bit scary but not too bad. You could take it to a local computer repair place and they can clean it. I think Geek Squad at Best Buy might also do it.

I did the same thing to my series x and my ps5 and have owned the ps5 two years and Xbox 18 months and the series x had way way more dust than the ps5. I also store them in the same area. Very strange why the series x collects more dust.

Just did the same to my PS5 after a year. Hardly any dust at all (including on part of heatsink can see when remove fan)….I do keep mine in a kind of damp, carpetless basement which may help. Also no pets.

Nice! We got an air purifier that I keep next to the gaming consoles and it has helped keep them cleaner.

Still dust forced (by fan) deep inside in places you cannot reach. After my 2nd laptop died from dust causing overheating and fans wearing out, I decided to build & use passive cooled PCs only. No fans = no forced dust packed inside CPU cooling fins. After 3 years of nearly constant use, still perfectly clean. Only slow vertical falling dust from gravity occasionally needs to be swiped off easy to reach surfaces with feather duster -- no dust packed inside delicate and tightly spaced CPU & GPU cooling fins that are impossible to reach. PS5 is designed to last only a short limited time, then it will most certainly die.

Passive cooling = very bad performance because the chip should work at very low wattage so it can run cool. Unfortunately I noticed that companies make heatsinks with more and more tiny fins with almost no space between them which causes dust to build up. I have PS3 for almost 10 years. When I opened it up it was dirty but there was no dust stuck between the heatsink fins because there is some space between them which allows dust to be exhausted from the back of the console instead of building up on the heatsink.

I've had my PS5 for close to 7months I open up my system I haven't seen any dirt or dust yet. How does dirt and dust get in there In the first place if you're just putting disc in it c'mon Dude.

Since there’s a fan it pulls dust from the air. I live on a dirt road and have a dog, so it’s dustier than average. Getting an air purifier next month, which I’m hoping will help some. Glad yours is staying clean!

@@ToolsnTechvids What about the heat on the console though? I've just cleaned out my PlayStation 5- and it is now dust free. but when I play a game the console (near the HDMI and AC input section) is as hot as ever. should I be worried?
