When you clean your PS5, avoid doing this! Here's what you need to know before you clean your Playstation 5. Very important, never clean the PS5 dust catcher with an air-duster! This is a big mistake. Use a vacuum with attachment to clean your PS5. Be careful with the PS5 cooling fan screws! Also, when removing the Playstation 5 cooling fan, use a pair of needle nose pliers! Using your hands for this is a bad idea. These are my best tips & tricks to clean your PS5 easy! Make sure to SUBSCRIBE & leave a "LIKE" rating if you found this video useful.

I only took apart and cleaned my son's PS5 after it started overheating. He still plays a lot of PS4 games and I noticed his PS5 only crashed when he played PS5 games. I assumed it was crashing due to overheating, and if not, I'd have to send it to Sony for repair. As a last resort before sending it in for repair, I took it apart and cleaned the fans and used a vacuum on those holes referenced in the video. It worked great. My son's PS5 no longer crashed after cleaning all of the dust out. It still surprises me that dust can be such a problem in a modern console. I cleaned his console right at one year of use. I've owned every PS console and never had one that crashed after one year due to dust until I got the PS5.

Or you can simply cover your PS5 with its original foam cover it came with when not using it. Surprised not many people do this and toss out the foam cover in the garbage. @sandro_the_guy

Yes I do the same thing with my consoles and PC, just cover them with some kind of cloth when not using them and just gently wipe them with wet tissues occassionally to keep the outside clean. Might sound silly but it does prevents a lot of dust from getting inside the machines. I took apart my 12 year-old X360 couple months ago to fix the CD-drive and the inside was surprisingly clean after all that time, just by doing that. For the PS5, I found and bought a cover for it online for just few bucks, gets the job done and even looks pretty nice.

I still find it funny how easy sony have made cleaning this thing, considering the ps4 was so difficult. I also cleaned both my ps2 and ps3, both had a similar way of doing it but the aluminium panel on the top of the ps3 original made it difficult to see the internals while the ps2 just got you straight to it, but with the ps2 you had the problem that there were seemingly two parts to it, and it was difficult to get to the bottom of it, without having to disconnect everything. I'm happy that it's become so easy with the ps5 as it is extremely user friendly, almost like a pc.

I was highly skeptical of using a cleaning agent like Goo Gone on the interior of the console, since it can quickly and easily become a greasy mess, but I always keep a bottle of ROR on hand and made sure to clean it off as well as possible as soon as I finished each cycle of scrubbing on each scratch… When I was finished, I’d be lying if I said it looked 100% new, but I was impressed to find it did remove about 90% of the defects and what’s left is barely noticeable at all unless you really look. Also the Goo Gone didn’t leave too much of a shiny residue on the plastic but as I said I took great care to remove it with ROR oil remover as quickly as possible… Def took a bit of time and elbow grease and not a complete fix, but a great improvement, thanks for the guide

Interesting. I’ll keep this mind moving forward but I’ve never cleaned any consoles I’ve owned over the yrs (internally at least) and they all ran just fine despite the number of yrs I had them. Had my PS5 for nearly 8 months now and hardly no dust anywhere on it to speak of since I use a very light dust cover on it after very gaming session

Spray WD40 through the air vents sometimes, it helps lubricate the chips and increases airflow. Your console will run cooler and quieter.
@guthetanuki256

@iceman.46

Tilting/moving the can upside down will only cause the propellant to shoot out which should look like white gas escaping quickly. It also freezes anything it touches immediately.but it sure as hell has no juice and sure as hell did not break a ps5. Unless he’s done it to the extent it’s liquified and damaged parts which you have to spray the can for a while to do at least 5 seconds.

It would be wise to not use microfiber towels or anything in that regard on the glossy part of the console. It will scratch that part over time and you may be forced to polish that out. It is the same issue with high gloss kitchensurfaces, do not use microfibres to clean those surfaces. It may go well for some time but you will see scratches sooner or later on those surfaces
@tobothehobo933
@tobothehobo933 5 месяцев назад
Then what are you meant to use?
@Kinsanth_
@Kinsanth_ 5 месяцев назад
@@tobothehobo933 try it with a regular towel with warm water and mild soap. Try to avoid microfiber, because over time it will damage glossy parts and create so called "holograms" , elliptic or circularshaped scratches. Also happens on cars when you look closely in direct sunlight, you can see fine scratches, which follow elliptic or circular patterns
@Dylangabs
@Dylangabs 4 месяца назад
@@Kinsanth_ It doesn't matter if you clean it or not, these scratches come from the factory, I went to clean it today, I had never cleaned it and there were already these circular scratches, so supposedly they already come with these scratches, but people only notice after a while because it's not common for them to look at this. on the first day of use

Actually blowing out the dust isn't a bad thing. When I did mine it blew out ALOT of dust out the back. Then I would take the fan out and vacuum out the inside. Those holes on the system is actually designed to be BLOWN out not vacuumed. Yes I clean systems all my life as a gamer and NOT one ever overhead.
@leonhardfeustel8390
@leonhardfeustel8390 2 года назад
Actually that is not true the holes are specially designed for vacuuming the dust out the console. Sony explained this in there PS5 teardown video.
@The-milk-dud-right-wing
@The-milk-dud-right-wing 2 года назад
@@leonhardfeustel8390 that doesn't make sense, using the vacuum on the holes dosen't get rid of the dust. If that was the case then people wouldn't be having tutorials on breaking down the ps5 to clean the inside.
@leonhardfeustel8390
@leonhardfeustel8390 2 года назад
@@The-milk-dud-right-wing of course you need additional cleaning for the console but the holes are dust collectors and are design to vacuum the dust and that is confirmed from playstation devs. So maybe you argue with them about it but im pretty sure they know their console better than you.
