This Makita DTW1001 nut gun has been used on a fishing boat and starting to make a bad sound in the gearbox.
Customer also thought the battery holder was broken but this loose fit is normal and actuly saves your batteries.
These guns are built for work and really come in clean. this one was used on a fishing boat so the salt water is causing a lot of rust and corrosion.
Luckily these makita guns are very reliable and robust. Salt water is not that big a deal for them. This quick service will keep this gun running smooth for a few more years.

Hi Dean...so in your opinion, since i saw plenty of your videos already and that seems to be yours, are Makita better than Milwaukee impact wrenchs? I'm honestly asking, i don't have any impact Makita, I only used Milwaukee at the moment. And they tend to fail after first year or so. Should i change to Makita? Or maybe DeWalt? Wich brand is the one you see is better here in Europe? I'm asking from Spain..and i use them in a car mechanic workshop. Thanks

The milwaukee have more power out of the box. But after 6 months, they turn to trash. The makita will outlast the milwaukee and keep hitting just as hard until it fails. Plus you can replace the contacts, and switch on the makita, as well as all the other bits. They are only uneconomical to repair when the stator or controler fail. Dewalt also is a good gun. And seem to withstand years of abuse. They last far longer than the milwaikee. But like the milwaukee the motor, switch, controler and contacts are all one piece.

@@deandohertygreaser I'm really grateful for the answer. I'm finding difficult to replace the power that my 3/4" Milwaukee impact gun gives me, but even having them registered when they fail, warranty service is very difficult to get here. Batteries also don't last that much....and they're not getting cheaper neither. An M18 5V battery is almost 95-100€ right now. Switches are the most common failure I'm having. I tried cleaning them and sometimes they work for another month or two....but its pretty annoying to have a 400€ wrench with 6-9 month that you find yourself fighting to make it work correctly. Thanks for the advice

Hi Dean, any ideas why my gun would run intermittently? It will run for maybe 2 seconds before stopping and then I’ve go to re-squeeze the trigger again? Very annoying, any ideas ?
@deandohertygreaser
@deandohertygreaser 8 месяцев назад
could be a faulty tigger or a broken or lose battery contact. When it stops, dose the motor run on for a little as if there is no brake
@sollywelch
@sollywelch 8 месяцев назад
@@deandohertygreaser thanks Dean, it runs on a little, checked battery connections and terminals and battery delivers constant voltage, I put some grease in and it seems to be working better, no stopping but seems very low on power ?

If you drilled a hole into the bushing of the anvil on a Milwaukee, would that make it more similar to the Makita here so that it can oil itself from the spindle? That little feature by Makita is a nice touch.
