You are permitted to harvest Muscovy ducks in Florida. They are non-native here and are delicious to eat. The species is non-threatened due to their prolific numbers. FWC allows landowners to harvest them without a permit due to overpopulation. While I don't partake in hunting (more of a fisherman) - most people who harvest them will eat them. The dog will retrieve them and the shooter will twist their neck so they're dead for sure. If you eat factory farmed chicken or beef but have a problem with Floridians hunting their own wild meat, I think your sensibilities need to be realigned. That being said, you're absolutely free to be wrong.
Well said! I can't believe all the ignorant comments on this video. I don't hunt myself either but I respect what this guy is doing. I can't tell you how many lionfish I have had to kill over the years and only recently learned people eat them. I remember years ago when you only saw lionfish in aquariums. Same idea, They displace native species endangering the environment. But you said it better.
I mean, true. It's really because the hurricanes they have all the time. The storm destroys Zoos all over and sometimes the animals survive the storm with their enclosures broken. Hence why they have piranhas, pythons, wild cats, etc.
Invasive to what? It's a brain rot phrased used by people when animals cause financial damage. They're not "invasive" they are just animals existing in the world. These people are fucking fragile.
Okay here we go ill start- invasive species is a species introduced to a new habitat that may cause harm to its current habitat and inhabitants. And so ill make a few bullet points for you. 1) native americans didnt spawn in america across an entire fucking ocean so guess what you are technically considered? 2) theres difference in population control and shooting with dog shit aim for the fun of killing and traditional bullshit- not a single shot was a clean kill for fucks sake one is literally in the water still CLEARLY attempting to fly- so thats not just nerves 3) true nature has no "invasive" species... simply just species that adapt to survive or they die out. 4) i dont mind hunting- if its meant to ACTUALLY HUNT TO FEED and isnt done simply for some kind of joy for you to get it up for your wife who probably is looking for a divorce attorney 5) humans will keep inventing terms and logistical loopholes to do whatever tf they want as they always have and this is kinda hook line and sinker reading some of these comments. "Way to really kill that defenseless animal son youre a real man now" an honorless man is no man at all-hes a coward who overcompensates with a piece of metal who doesnt realize... he himself can be taken out by any other man who owns a gun and has basic eyesight.🤯

The amount of people who think killing invasive species is for “pleasure” is astounding. I hunt starlings. If the starlings don’t go, 3 species of hummingbird, robins, sandpipers, and more all die off. It’s for ecological maintenance.

So what? It's not like certain species which can destroy an ecosystem. Ducks eat moss and fish. If you have specific information on how Muscovy Ducks actually threaten an ecosystem - speak up.
@@LTrotsky21stCenturyThey are an invasive species. They can be responsible for making a majority of natural resources go extinct. Natural resources that other animals, and humans, live off of. They outcompete native plants and animals. They are a threat to other species, habitats, and disrupt coastal and great lake ecosystems. Muscovy ducks in particular, can dump excessive nutrients in small ponds, and share their diseases in waterfowls. Meaning they give diseases to native animals, and humans, along with harming the quality of our water. They need to be killed, for the betterment of humans, and native animals alike. With them still around, our ecosystem _is_ in danger.
@@mryoshi.-1296Bro have you seriously never heard the saying "run around like a chicken with their head cut off"? In case it isn't obvious, animals can still move around a lot before death. @@xornedge8204 there are plenty of things that can upset natures balance, the whole reason they are doing this is because this wasn't intended by nature and without fixing it many more animals may die
@@xornedge8204"let nature do its thing" Theres no nature involved here Animals are exported from different countries to one another, and some of them start thriving in a sustained ecosystem which is already maintained by the native animals. Those species then start occupying space and food areas and the native species die out, thus they're called invasive. And when an invasive species is in the area you cannot completely eradicate them, but can keep the population under control, hence the shooting and hunting. Do some research before trying to prove your love for animals idiot
Me too! And from what I’ve read they’re not considered invasive. They spread from Mexico to Texas and then they were brought to FL and introduced intentionally.

Whether you mind them or not doesn't change the fact that they're invasive and have a negative impact on native species. It's the same thing as pythons being in the everglades, or wild hogs being in Texas.
Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) is considered invasive in some regions outside of its native range. The Muscovy duck is native to Mexico, Central, and South America. However, due to human introduction and escape from captivity, Muscovy ducks have established populations in various parts of North America, Europe, and other regions. In areas where they have become invasive, Muscovy ducks can have negative impacts on native bird populations and habitats. They may compete with native duck species for resources and breeding sites, potentially leading to the decline of native waterfowl populations. Different regions have varying regulations and management approaches to deal with invasive Muscovy duck populations. Some places may have restrictions on owning or breeding them, while others may implement control measures to reduce their impact on local ecosystems.
Animals are trying to adjust their lives to the invasion of our human cities on their natural habitats. So what if you can come up with a reason to kill them that will legitimize this brutality. If we humans are so goddamned superior, then we can find ways to transport these ducks to other habitats or find ways to live in harmony with them.
Its called a head shot and muzzle comtrol. The lack of respect for the experiemce of the invaisoce species is what is being judged here. Besodes ots america. The American way to solve invasive species. It’s still sad that some people don’t understand the importance of population control in the animal kingdom.
if you want to die faster than your friends - go on, catch them. Sometime only way is shooting them down. Even in damn russia ppls shooting animals not for fun, it's have purpose: if they not gonna be dead, they will damage ecosystem.
Lemme explain something to y’all since my dad is a forester, I know what an invasive species is. The thing is an invasive species isn’t always a predatory creature and can often look harmless. It is only when you look closer and realize what they are doing is invasive. Usually the invasive species will take nutrients from the environment whether that be from soil, the water shed, or anywhere else. And because the invasive species is taking those nutrients away, it leads to an in balance for the species that keep the ecosystem functioning normally. An example that I have here in Maine is with bass. They are currently an invasive species in some lakes thus causing there to be less food for other fish like togue (lake trout), brook trout, or other species native to the lakes here in Maine. So the key to getting rid of them are either by killing them or moving them. Moving them takes time and tons of resources, where as killing them not only removes them from the habitat preventing the species from disrupting the ecosystem further, but killing them also provides food for humans, dogs, scavengers, etc.
another great example is humans, literally harvesting all the resources from environment and destroying the natural habitat. Here's a thought, how about stopping mega malls and hotel from clearing whole ecosystems for money ?
Isn't that nature doing it's thing thow. Now you have humans being dicks. In the village I grew up, we had large pine trees and other species, which were later said to be invaded species. They then cut those trees down, cause our 'natural' species had to survive, it's always been surviving btw. Long story short, river banks are now wider and flooding everytime heavy rainfall happens.
Another good example across a good portion of the US is Carp. They seem harmless, they're just fish after all, but they heavily out-compete a lot of the normal fish in those ecosystems and completely destroy the balance.
Muscovy ducks can transmit diseases to or interbreed with Florida's native waterfowl. Furthermore, Muscovy duck populations can increase quickly, which can lead to conflicts between neighbors, excessive nutrient loading in small ponds, and messy sidewalks and driveways.
Why aren't they doing this with the Canadian geese then? They have to wash our sidewalks in our apartment complex like every other day because they leave droppings all over the place. They're always walking across highways and are a horrible noise issue at night. I've never seen these ducks outside of a small pond but the geese are literally everywhere.
Bro Its natural selection, if they came to the city, that means other people are took over their places , because natural water drain out everywhere because people cut trees and rivers disappear and many species lose their natural habitats. You think those “invasive animals” want to come to your fucked up cities? They have no choice because of fucked people like us. And after them traveling thousand of kilometres you shook them like they are nothing, like they don’t deserve to I’ve.
