Cleaning Up WNC After Hurricane Helene | People Still Need Help Here!

Our hometown in Western NC has been hit hard by Hurricane Helene. The historic flooding, winds, mudslides, and tree damage have left many stranded, homes destroyed, and entire roads washed out. We are currently on day four of storm recovery, working tirelessly to clear roads, get emergency vehicles in, and help people trapped without food, water, or power. Honestly, this video is the much more tamed version of the work we've been doing. Some has been too intense and heartbreaking to film but it's important to raise awareness as so so many resources are needed now.
This video is a fundraiser for the American Red Cross, which has opened over 15 shelters across Western NC and Upstate South Carolina. This storm has changed so many lives forever, and our community is in desperate need of support. I survived hurricane Katrina in Gulfport MS off hwy 90. Almost 20 yrs later and things just won't ever be the same. Prayers for everyone God bless you fine folks!!

@@brandonious9060the Gulf Coast is awesome and it was really a great place before Katrina in 05. I just turned 49 today Oct 2nd and I still think about home and how bad Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It end up being wind driven water instead of a hurricane so State Farm didn't pay.

We did first responders work in Mississippi during Katrina. The first trip in I felt every emotion you could ever fill all at one time. I had never had that before in my life. Just as with Katrina my heart goes out to all the folks in this disaster. I thought I was prepared to see what Ike had done to Smith Point here in Texas when we took Christmas to their community but I wasn't. Everything and the missing from bolivar was swept across the bay to this community. This hurricane will affect the folks that experienced it and the first responders for a life time.

Help is organizing and comming, it will take months even years to fully recover. You just have to breathe and take it one day at a time. Focuse on the day. I have been through over 10 hurricane clean up efforts and it just takes time to fix what mother nature can undo in hours. Prayer your way.

I definitely feel for you guys and everyone involved. My home town is Greenfield, ia that got hit by the tornado that set wind speed records. Making sure everyone is safe and getttin things cleaned up is one thing. Then dealing with fema and insurance companies seems like an unnecessary issue that makes you want to pull your hair out. We went through it in North Georgia in Habersham County but it honestly wasn't that bad here a few trees fell from rain more than wind. Did find 2 baby squirrels that had been blown to the ground so I'm taking care of them.

I’m in High Point North Carolina and live in an apartment that sits up on 10 steps to get up to it ! ( only 2 apts ) and when I saw storm coming I saw it was going to flood and I thought I’m so glad I live up off the ground so much ! Those storms don’t care about how high or heavy house or buildings were ! This was 💔 pray for all these family’s ! Some lost it all but I pray they see life is precious be thankful !

I live in Tennessee near Cox County. And he is trying to tell us not to come, but they’re not going to the Rule areas… No government agency he’s gonna tell me that I can’t help my neighbor. But I have a four-wheel-drive and no these back roads pretty well better than anygovernment official who’s wearing a suit. I’m gonna help people and there’s nothing nobody can do about it.

For future videos, white letters with black shadows or backgrounds will show up better over busy scenes, ie your donation info at the end. Great video. Your price for that retaining wall wasn't surprisingly. Moving dirt, plus those blocks, adds up. Do you currently make your own blocks? If you have an area on a lot. I'd recommend investing in some of the forms. Then, you just need a cement truck to get a load of cement to you. You pour into the forms, with metal lift bands, etc, and begin to accumulate your stock. It might give you more flexibility compared to large loads of blocks on long trailers. Ease of access and availability of product and materials are probably going to be your biggest issue. If you use special engineered blocks from a specific producer, then nevermind, unless they are willing to make you a local distributor for them?

I work for the DOT here in North carolina. I believe they're going to start rotating crews out to come up that way. Just today I seen two Mack trucks come in to get some water that were loaded up in the back with water and also pulling a trailer with water. I think help is coming I just don't know how they're going to go about it or how they're planning to do it. I believe they're already sending people up that way

He told one of the homeowners when they were able to get ahold of their insurance companies and get a claim number he would work with them. So it sounds like they may reimburse them later.

Insurance will be billed at emergency rates (it's not wrong) they will fight back and fourth and settle for something. The biz owner is fronting all of these costs upfront right now.

all this destruction aside, the tourism dollars have been decimated as well because the Blue Ridge Parkway is completely closed. millions of people come to this area in the fall to enjoy the extravagant fall foliage displayed during the change of seasons. none of that income will be coming to this area this season 1.find a good charity and DONATE 2. plan to visit in 6 months and spend some money on those roadside stands selling local honey and handmade crafts in the NC mountains 3.plan a ski trip to the area first of the year (Sugar Mountain/Beech Mountain(Banner Elk)/Appalacian SKi Mountian(Boone) 4. plan golf trip in the Spring 2025 5. visit Asheville Biltmore House 6. plan a trip to go mountain biking(Pisgah National Forest/Tsali/Kitsuma) 7. plan trip to go hiking Black Mountain Range/Mt Mitchell/Grandfather Mountain. hundreds of other trails and peaks to enjoy 8. Plan a trip to do some kayaking/whitewater rafting 9. plan a visit to the Smokey Mountains National Park(most visited national park in the country) 10. plan a trip to do some trout fishing in Brevard or Bryson City This is one of the most beautiful areas in the country. give it a few months and GO VISIT AND SPEND SOME MONEY!!!
