Grill Girl explains when and how to clean your outdoor gas barbecue grill. She explains which parts are important to clean well and which areas just need to be brushed off.
Gas grills are outdoor appliances and should be able to withstand outdoor environments as long as they are well-maintained. Always use a grill cover to protect your grill from the harshest elements like rain and sleet.
Do a deep clean of your grill once or twice a year and at that time, inspect the different elements like the burners, heat plates, carry over tubes, and cooking grids in case they need to be replaced.
You can clean your cooking grids more regularly if you want a cleaner cooking area.

Hey Y'all, Grill Girl Here. I'm right in the middle of fixing up this
Barbecues Galore Turbo grill that's about
15 or 20 years old and I wanted to give
you a note about cleaning your grill.
Now everyone has their own ideas and of
course you're entitled to yours but this
is how i feel about gas grills; they
should be able to be left outside they
are outdoor cooking appliances and you
shouldn't have to clean them every
single time you use them. Think about
your oven.
Most people don't scrub out their oven
every single time they use it. If you get
your grill really hot before you put the
food on it will sanitize the cooking
space and everything else that's dirty
it really doesn't have to be cleaned to give you
a good cook. In fact, with the heat
dispersal - the level that goes right
above this - as grease drips down onto it
it really gives you a better flavor. So
it is good to generally clean out your
grill. You don't want to get too much
debris stuck down into the bottom of it.
That could be a cooking hazard and it could give
you some burned flavor. So once or twice
a year you should go through with a
brush like this.
Get on your gloves if you don't want to
your hands to look like this after and
just brush out the debris here. It's
amazing how much nicer your grill will
look after that simple simple task.
That is also the same time that, if you
want, take out your cooking grids,
scrub them off.
Take out your heat dispersal clean it
off a little bit or brush it off. I
wouldn't really to spend too much time
on it because again those are just
flavors that are going to be on that
level. But if you have a cast-iron burner
you can also clean out the holes of the
burner which you can see right down here
and clean them out with a toothpick or
straightened-out paper clip and
your grill should be good to cook again.
Sometimes my customers tell me that they
spend you know 20 or 30 minutes after
every time they cook to clean their
grill and to me it's just not the point
of a gas grill. You know it's gonna get a
little dirty and that's ok. Alright y'all
