I have a 2013 white VW Golf R with gel coat stain after peeling off Clearbra, what polisher you recommend after using Rapid Remover, I’ve got the adhesive removed, the gel coat has a light brown stain. I ordered the 3-M Medium 5954 and Super Rubbing compound 5973, my plan is to go to Harbor Freight and get the Hercules Dual Action and using a 5 inch backing plate do what you showing on the flat area and then with smaller single action get the tight spots but be real careful not to create excessive friction - what do you think ? I really appreciate your advice !
Great Video Brian, I have a question about bug etching on the front nose of the vehicle, I am talking jacked up ,looks like it was hit with a machine gun fire ,really bad. Can you wet sand this and compound then polish? your thoughts please.
Wonderful video however I have the same issue and after following your steps the spots are still present. Maybe I have the wrong set-up or maybe wet sanding is the answer. I'm using an evo21 with microfiber pad. I've tried 1500 compound and correction compound. I've tried low, medium, and high speed with both compounds. I would greatly appreciate your input or anyone else's input. Thank you for your time.
Great video as always!!! Quick question Brian, did you finished with a polish after compound??? I see that you use compress air to clean the MF cutting pad ,but you also spray water on the pad. Does it make a difference????
No need to with QP ON compounds. They ( all three... ultra cut, medium cut, and heavy cut) have diminishing abrasives and tons of lubrication with no residue. Thats why they are pricey I suppose.
So I have 20 year old grime/etch along the trim. In some places an orange pad neutralized the grime and etching and in some places it is still stupporn. I am wondering if I should move up to wool, microfiber, or microfiber xtra cut pad to knock it down? What it the grime did scratch the paint underneath or clear coat, what do u do then?
The hood of my car suffers from the same problem thanks to a lovely tree that wrecks the hood. Not sure what it coats but If you can get a polisher you can do it yourself its not too difficult to correct.
So basically I snow foamed my car left it on there for abit to long in the sun like a idiot. Now I have etching you can see when the sun is shining on the bonnet. Will this help it
Not sure if you will see this from so long ago, but I have an issue. I have water spots in the clear coat. I have a MaxShine DA polisher and the full color line of Lake Country pads. I did my first 'corrections' today and although I feel like I am following the vids, the amount of 'correction' I get is very minimal. For example, I had swirls/hazing in the center of my hood. I used Meguiar Correction Compound (pink one) with their cutting disc (and also the orange foam pad), and I was doing two pass intervals, very slow hand, medium pressure on speed 4. I got zero correction. Twice. I finally used CG V38 and a white pad, spun the DA to top speed, medium pressure and it took out the swirls, but not the hard water etching. Just frustrated. Any advice would be great.
You need acid (water spot remover) to remove water spots. Polishing water spots can cause the minerals to push in harder and just come back after a week or two.
