Stream of Consciousness is one of the favorite techniques implemented by Modern writers like Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, and D.H. Lawrence. It was later implemented quite successfully by Indian writers such as Arun Joshi and Anita Desai. In fact, Anita Desai used it in all her novels, especially her first novel Cry, the Peacock, and her most autobiographical novel Clear Light of Day. Clear Light of Day holds a significant place in Indian English Literature as it has been nominated for Booker Prize.
