Advice: Be careful with your slug, regardless which mold of it you own for the 2014 line, or even from the last knight line, since my slug's left arm tab broke and part of it is now stuck within the slot- pain
The last time I've seen someone review all these figures in one video was when the god of RU-vid put the legendary JobbytheHong video in my feed. haaaaaa the nostalgia
i got the blue strafe thing. it broke. like most of my transformers. which sucks because alot of them were cool edit: I remeber from that video that it was not the strongest
The fact that you made this video 20 minutes and 14 seconds long, and it’s featuring figures that came out in 2014. That’s pure perfection right there!
I got these guys for Christmas back in 2014! And I must say, I played with them heaps and 4/5 are still in great condition. I've only had a few tabs and ports break & crack on them over the years, (like the tabs on strafe's wings for the arms and the ports for grimlock's skirt pieces.) But the only major break I've had was on Slog, where his right arm broke off at the chest hinge. Luckily the remnants of the hinge is still there and js strong enough to hold the arm in place on its own, so he still looks good on both modes, just now he can play dotm prime cosplay. Other than those few little breakages, my set has withstood the test of time, and I hope yours does too. (Plus, you can turn grimlock's robot head around for Dino mode to make his head spike sit more flush, which it seems like barely anyone knows). Loved the video, well done as always!
4:39 this Grimlock mold is what set me back in the path of collecting Transformers again lmao. I remember exactly where I bought it. I bought mine at the ToyRUs near Disneyland in California in 2014 cause our relative's house is in the Disneyland area and we were staying there for a wedding. I was so bored and I ended up going out to explore the area and I ended up at the ToyRUs in their area where I bought ToyRUs exclusive Slug with the minicon and the two pack Grimlock with Energon Grimlock recolored into G1 Grimlock. The cashier took great interest with me cause she saw my Scotiabank card and asked me where I was from and we had a small chat lol. That shit is what set me in this very expensive path.
I'm not gonna believe that Starafe's tail just melted down... in Canada. I have the same toy and live where there's real heat all day and night and it's still in one piece. Just say you torched off.
These are very interesting. I'd get them all. They look so knights of the round awesome! I will never understand, the problem people have with clear plastic. I do ask, "what the hell do you do with it and how?" I say this, because i never ever EVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER, problems as everyone complains. Yes, i a have a very big weakness for clear plastic on my transformers, meaning i am sold when i see clear plastic. Its fun!! Clear plastic, Which I NEVER EVER had any problem.
Clear plastic is just more fragile and prone to breaking than regular plastic. People only really have a problem when it's in joints like hinges and ball joints and stuff.
i stand my point, but i stand my point. :/. i understand what you said. i have stuff over 30 years with clear plastic, and i still constantly go on "playing" with those, and still no issues. i have a very clear plastic dinossaur, which was those kind of toys, which you rotated a cog, and then he would walk alone. there is KO honda car transformer (deformation as chinese say). a pretty cool looking black and red clear plastic car. i have been still transforming that thing for... 20 years maybe. just love thr damn thinhg just some examples.
I still consider this the coolest set from AOE toy line. Remember going to a local toysRus just to look at that. Never got the chance to own it though.
While I like these movie dinobot toys; I would never touch the set not even if you paid me to take them. wtf were they thinkining with all the clear plastic?
Slog with those shoulder pieces and a remolded chest piece dino mode... It could almost become a Transformer version of the Pokemon Dialga, especially with different weapons and remolding
Is it Slug or is it Slag? It's Slag throughout the cartoon series, It's Slag in the 86 movie, It's Slag in the wiki and on Google. It's Slug on the SS86 box...
Yes because the term slag is a slur in the UK so the name was changed to slug. Every toy since at least 2014 has been labeled as slug due to this name change
I've had zero experience with any of these since I basically swore off Transformers after AOE and not because of the movies either. The designs however are very cool, and unique, where as the production and quality not so much. Looking forward to an improved Studio series set in film accurate colors minus hopefully the fragile clear plastic as it does not age well with either hinges, pins or even ball joints. RIP Animated Swindle.
I actually have the SDCC G1 box set of these guys, well Grimlock, Strafe/Swoop, Slug/Slag, and Snarl, and I have to admit that out of all the decos, it's probably still my favorite, just wish it came with Slog/Sludge to finish out the original 5 Dinobots. Also, I find it funny that I do the exact same thing with the wings and tail on my Strafe when in robot mode.
The grimlock mold is super familiar to me, probably because I once owned a grimlock from age of extinction that looked much like that and had a similar transformation. Anybody know what model I'm thinking of?
"giant men" is by far the most unexpected way ive ever heard someone call these giys and i gotta say, you almost made me suffocate in laughter. kudos LOL also at 7:45 what happened to your hand?
I wish that with Slug/Snarl whatever transformed by turning the triceratops head into a shield. We've never had a triceratops transformer who did that.
Slog was easily my favorite of these figures. The non-clear one is solid and not terrible. The design is dope in both modes. I wish he had been in the movie, but then again, the dinobots were handled terribly anyways.
The clear plastic does look like they are wearing those clear glass heels you see some people wear, so the legs don’t actually look like real legs, but instead look like big shoes and the actual painted parts of the upper legs make it look like those are their real tiny legs and feet.
