Join me on a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of life! In this episode, I take you on a stress-relieving day trip from the small fishing village of South Addison, Maine. As we paddle, we’ll explore the beauty of the bay, including expansive sandy beaches and a peculiar, blobby island that adds a touch of majesty to the scenery. If you watch carefully, you'll see a seal checking me out as I paddle!
Throughout the journey, I'll share some kayaking top-tips and ideas, making this not just a visual delight but also an informative experience for fellow paddlers.
So, come along and unwind with me as we navigate the waters, discover hidden gems, and discuss ways to make the most of your kayaking excursions. Remember to hit subscribe to stay tuned for more adventures that combine the joy of exploration and self-discovery with the serenity of nature.

Nice video, the drone shots are a great treat. I am very greatful for MITA and the preservation of public access it preserves. I just started exploring N of Schoodic last couple of years. The further North you paddle the more beautiful the Maine Coast gets but you definitely have to know your stuff! The SMSKN guys think I'm crazy to drive 3 hours (from NH) for a day trip, but I'll tell you all the way home I'm feeling the afterglow of another great day on the ocean. I'd kind of like to see something about Bois Bubert and Jordan's Delight. Cheers.

Hi Phil! Thanks for you support. I get the same thing about driving far for padding! North of Schoodic and all the Bold Coast is pretty magical and Bois and Jordan’s Delight are fantastic. A spot I go at least once a year. Check out the photos from a past trip on my website www.seesteveseakayak.com/trips/bois-bubert-jordans-delight

Nice paddling video! Because you have a great forward paddle stroke, I believe anything you say. Ha. Ha. You R Legit. Also liked the little insights into landing areas (sand vs rock & weed) paddling time opportunities based on M seasons, locations etc… These little tips are really helpful for a guy who plans to relocate to Maine for the paddling. Hope you get out paddling today. Thx again!

Thank you! I'm glad my forward stroke speaks to you. HA! I hope you can get out here soon (or at least as soon as it warms up!).

Did you add a keel strip to your Kayak (s)? If so, could you advise on type of tape and application? You think it’s necessary (keel strip) in the type of kayaking you do? I have kevar and a glass kayak.

The boat you saw in this video came with a keel strip. There is an aftermarket product people I paddle with use-KeelEasy. My longer boat doesn't have a keel strip. I've been waiting until I really commit and refinish the hull (instead of just patching spots) before adding a KeelEasy strip. I don't think it's necessary, but it is certainly nice to have and saves in boat repairs down the road. Some people are very protective and careful with their gel-coat finishes. I'm not one of them! I don't mind the odd scratch or ding, and if it gets too bad, I break out the gel coat, and a few days later, it's as good as new! What kind of boat do you paddle?

Enjoyed your video. Good editing. Informative. Keep it up. I like. Tiny pebbles are even worse. They do their little hardcore wedging. I said before: army. Next time focus on torso rotation. One sign that your doing torso rotation is that your off hand stays at the same level. View torso and off arm as a stiff unit. Hate to write these things as I sound like a know-it-all, which I’m not, just a very technically inclined paddler. Good call on the helmet!

Liked the video. Over head shots give a great perspective. Suggestions: forget the music, show your trip on a chart, and discussion of equipment would be appreciated. My experience on the Maine coast is mostly in Casco Bay. I’m sometimes frustrated by the limited launch areas and restricted parking.

I'm so grateful for your support and feedback! It means a lot to me that you enjoyed the video and the overhead shots. I'm trying to walk a fine line between "guiding" people of where to go, and "instructing" people on how to paddle on one side, and taking people along for an adventure and to have them experience what I'm experiencing, thinking, and doing on the other side. This thing is constantly evolving, and I'm going along for the ride! AND, access and parking are tough across many spots along the Maine coast. My biggest resource is my subscription to the Maine Island Trail Association (MITA). Check them out if you don't already belong. And the group that runs the Southern Maine Sea Kayak Network are all friends and paddling buddies. That group, along with Portland Paddle, does great things in your area if you haven't already checked them out! Thanks, and happy paddling!

Well dunno how I ended up here but I’m lucky to witness some of your first videos! You have a great perspective and I’m excited to see more of a beautiful place. Im from the PNW and have found myself out in upstate NY now. Recently fell back in love with sea kayaking without my other paddle vices as readily available. Also fell in love with Maine this summer too after an unrelated summer trip. I don’t want to say too much that hasn’t already been said. Find your voice of what you’d like to share! And find your balance in producing videos/just paddling to paddle. Your definitely a guy I’d love to paddle with and chat about whatever paddling over a beer

However you got here, I'm grateful! Thanks for watching and for sharing your perspective. This has certainly been a learning process. Finding my voice, balancing all the things, and capturing enough footage has been a steep learning curve. I'm just trying to make each video better and better! I have a trip out on Vancouver Island this summer. I'm excited to get into the PNW waters. Hope our paddling paths cross some time and we can cap the day with a beer!
