On stories - I've started to voice record my grandfather when he tells me his stories. So, when one day when he's not with us anymore I can listen back to his stories and still listen to his voice ❤️ someone told me to do it after they had lost their father and they recommended me to do it! Sending love x

This is such a great idea. My grandma was a Holocaust survivor and had a lot of stories. She didn't always want to talk about it, obviously, but when she did, I wish I would've recorded her. I think my relatives have a few recordings of her, but not very many. She was the most amazing woman and went through a lot. I miss her every day.

That’s the one thing I hate is when we loose people we love. I really couldn’t remember my dad’s voice until we were cleaning and found a box of vcr tapes. I automatically cried when my dad spoke, he passed 7 yrs ago, but then I could listen to his voice just magic.

Depending on what kind of bulbs, I'm sure you could still plant them if your ground is workable. They may just come up late. I've definitely planted bulbs late before because I never got around to finding time to plant them in fall.

Beautiful video as always! My stylist recommended leave-in conditioner for dry ends. I have naturally curly/wavy hair (typically very dry) and she said it's better to use a leave-in conditioner and oil rather than just using more oil. It has made a HUGE difference to the feel and look of my hair over the last 6 months. I run a small amount through the ends of my hair after every wash and it smoothes frizz, protects against heat styling and makes my hair hydrated and shiny!

You could pot your bulbs in pots and then plant out in the fall. You can add annuals, etc. In the same pots. It moves from season to seasons in pots.

I do wish influencers took close-up pictures for before and after of their favorite skin care products. Example: I tested this product for 6 months before I showed you the before and after of my skin differences. Or the brands they work with advertised the pictures. Saying its good and then showing the results.

Since the new year, I have started to incorporate cold showers into my morning routine and omg, has it been a game changer!! I've been rubbing green tea ice cubes all over my face every morning for years, but I never thought to take cold showers until recently and I'm so glad I did! I used to have severe Restless Leg Syndrome and ever since I've started taking cold showers, it has decreased immensely because of how amazing cold showers are for circulation.

Your relatives are your history and love hearing about them. They sound very sensible like my parents and my daughter lived with her grandmother like you did at one time as mum was on her own and it gave them both comfort and my daughter was essentially like my mother's carer and company while she did her degree. It gave her a sense of family history and values and they chatted like you did. The bulbs you could put in pots now in the greenhouse don't leave them in the box and I am so glad you have your greenhouse back. Onwards and upwards now you and Ali have your lovely domains. Man shed and girl greenhouse :-)

Lydia you can go ahead and plant your bulbs. They may not bloom this year, but should bloom next year. The citrus died back because it got too cold. They may come back if you keep them in temps above freezing, they really don't like temps below 40f (4.5 C?).

Working in nursing homes and having awesome grandparents, I heard some of the most fascinating stories about history and their way of life. Time when mothers made dresses for their little girls out of flour sacks. The cows escaped their pasture and ate almost all of the food they had stored for the winter and everyone almost starved. They used oil lamps. They put warm potatoes in their beds to keep warm at night. They didn't have s** education classes, no birth control, no daycare centers. Women couldn't work. "Gone with the Wind" was a dirty movie! Women were taught woman responsibilities and men were taught men responsibilities and these roles were so separate that they truly depended on each other for survival. Men were taught to plow, fertilize, and grow the food/process the meat while women were taught how to cook and preserve the food. The women couldn't do their job without the men and vice versa. They would heat their bath water over fires. They would go barefoot except on Sundays for church. At school, they would have a class of about 10-15 kids and they would be all different ages and grades, yet they learned alongside each other. Some people didn't learn to read until much later in life. One family ate ONLY purple potatoes for two years. The floor of their house was dirt. It's so crazy to think about!

What a gorgeous comment. Here’s a tip: take a few minutes to close your eyes and remember what you used to love as a little girl: be it dancing, drawing, colouring, music, sewing, fashion, baking. Write it down, let the pen flow and see what appears on the page. This is your inner child and your authentic self, before life got busy and you got conditioned by society and doing what you ‘think’ you have to do to fit in. Make the time to honour this authentic self in adulthood now, and you’ll see how your purpose and zest for life will spring back and light up your heart! It’ll bring you simple fulfilment like you wouldn’t believe! 💕

I liked Stutz. I am a therapist and i liked how he grouped his ideas. I also really appreciated seeing his approach, it was very masculine and very different for me. You guys distilled it well and i love hearing you speak about it because it is so apparent how much work you have done in your own lives! 🎉. Also Lydia, you can say turd and still make it sound elegant- LOL. Lastly i have the air wrap and know what you mean. I LOVE it but i have to use Kerastase resistance serum and there is a brand called dry bar in the US and they make a heat smoothing sealant that makes your hair so so shiny and protects it. Cheers!

Some things from Stutz that I really took from it, was learning to love your child version of yourself in your mind that maybe you've carried all these years that you disliked (does that make sense?) So sort of shadow work. I've been alcohol free for nearly a year and a half now and realize I used it to cope with anxiety so as I've stripped it all back, I'm starting my mental health journey almost from scratch. Seems deep to share on a youtubers comment section but Lydia opens up these convos for a reason, I'm going to partake and consider it an open safe place to say it. 😀

Lydia, the Blowout Professor here on youtube is amazing for recommending products and haircare routines for all hair types and textures. I’m in the process of looking after my fine highlighted hair whilst trying to grow it and keep the fullness. I have very dry ringlet texture my the name of my neck, it’s a totally different texture to the rest of my hair and I’ve never been able to grow that part of my hair longer than shoulder length as it breaks off. With the knowledge I now have from him, I feel real hope that it can catch up with the rest of my length in the next few months. I’m also down to washing my hair twice a week which is unreal for fine hair. With help from dry shampoo to control the oil and the roots and oiling the ends to keep the hydration in the middle lengths to ends.

Hi Lydia! I too have a lemon tree and I've had to revive mine because of unforeseen circumstances. Now, without being able to put my hands on them to really see what's going on this is what I would do. As long as there is some green in the branches , meaning if you were to bend a branch back to see if there is any life in it, if it snaps and is dry that branch is dead or if it gives a little and is green there is still life in it. If all of the branches are coming back as brittle and lifeless, I would take a small knife and see if there is any life in the trunk of the tree. If there is any life, with some serious TLC it can be brought back to health. Patience and care do amazing things. Once you get to your trees remove all the fruit off of them, you might also want to give the trees a good shake so that any leaves that are hanging on but shouldn't can come off. This will allow the tree to put all of its energy back into growing life instead of maintaining something that is decaying. This will be heart breaking, but never fear, plants are amazing and thrive when they know that they are getting love. Now you'll need to give them a good deep water and some fertilizer just for citrus, because the green house is warm (hopefully) the plant should slowly start to rejuvenate and you should start being graced with that beautiful celadon green of new leaves. Keep you eyes on them and water when necessary. Wishing you all the luck on them.

I was captured by the rose shape earrings you were wearing while in the kitchen section. If you can share where you bought them would be amazing! Thank you for your lovely channel is inspiring and so relaxing! 😘

if you put a hydrating primer and then you do your hair with the airwrap it would help with the dryness and make the curls drop faster

They don’t look dead and they don’t need much water in the winter so you might be fine. I lost my outdoor ones as I forgot to wrap them with fleece before the snow came and all my lemons went manky and leaves fell off. I’ve wrapped them now just in case they can be rescued but I don’t hold out much hope.

Lydia, Thank you for the discount code and your honesty, I have deliberated over becoming a member of Beauty Pie and now I have joined with your help, love watching you always have and you just get better, I did say in a previous message that you should be prescribed by a doctor to watch as you have helped me enormously, and with the fur babies you make such entertaining vlogs and with Lumis’ input today oh my what a beautiful girl she is, love the vlogs when she is in them and you have shown her over the years to my joy especially when she is on the bed with you, I love her so much she makes my day ❤ Watched you for over 6 years now and you never disappoint xxx

Weather vane is what you were looking for and my father made his own with a maori symbol on it and we all loved it. Dovecotes are popular too and you could have either on your new beautiful shed. I know you want to move but you have everything there you could ever want and all that wonderful wildlife and dog walks on your doorstep. You have good neighbours and a lot to be said for that. Desiderata the poem is what my father loved (it was turned into a song) and it is about contentment. I love your planter and anything in that metal appeals. Daylesford is very expensive even though it is lovely and I have visited a London branch but not in the Cotswolds. I love their themes and the willow heart featured in Josie's blog.

Yes, wonderful idea ❤️ I wish I had taped my grandmother speaking her rare baltic dialect while she was alive :/ My dad wrote down our family history spanning a couple of centuries before he died, because he was the last one to properly tell all these stories. I had everything leather-bound into a beautiful book for my parents and we all cherish this "family resource" so much.

I know I don't have to say this but from today I've decided not to watch your videos any longer. The amount of consumption is just getting insane for me. I can no longer contribute by continuing to watch your videos. Such a shame cause your videos were such an escape during lockdown and I loved all the gardening content. I know you dont need to hear this and I'll probably get lots of negative comments off the back of this comment but I just wanted my opinion to be heard I guess. Ciao for now ❤️

Everyones entitled to their opinion aslong as it comes with respect. Personally I skip to the gardening/home stuff because that's my jam. I find Lydia's videos really relaxing after a long and busy day. I do understand though the consumption comment, and I think in general it comes with the territory online.
