Come on the water with Tim Little for a Summer day on Clearlake. Watch as he fishes a variety of patterns in search of active fish. Once he finds aggressive bass he capitalizes and fine tunes the pattern to produce the maximum number of bites from finicky summer fish.

Thanks for the trip out on Clearlake. There's a little of everything on there. How awesome to have a fishery like that in your backyard. Great fishing tips too.

Enjoy all of your vids but I really enjoy the just "go out and fish" ones where you then break down the pattern.

Thanks bud we appreciate it! Those fish just kept biting lol. Usually if you can get one to bite the rest get all fired up and sometimes it takes 5-10 casts.

Dead heat of summer on a calm day. It's hard to beat a square bill around docks!! It's my go to. We have so much vegetation it's hard for me to get the bds 3 through it,I miss the 2! Wanna trade some 2's for some 3's?

u should try the Stanley top toad if ur gonna go with top water baits, it allows u to pause it after u burn it over those flats, cause it floats, works great for me in summertime in those conditions up here in Massachusetts, tight lines

Great vid, informative as always. Looked like a 130 size whopper plopper, what power rod do you use for that being a bit heavier than the 90?
@tacticalbassin

Yeah that's the 90 size. Typically this 784... bit.ly/2ab2kRX

what was the water clarity? One of the lakes I fish heavily became really murky and green during late spring and has not cleared up....i have not been fishing there as much because I do not have much confidence in topwater in dirty water, but after seeing you throw it in that water clarity, I feel like I was doing it wrong. Can you throw a topwater bait in water with only a 1 or 1.5 ft visibility?
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 8 лет назад
Absolutely! The water clarity was about a foot or so. Try to throw a bait that makes more commotion. You will have better drawing power with it.
@dustinedmiston8165
@dustinedmiston8165 8 лет назад
I'm very upset about the discontinued 1 and 2! I'm searching for a replacement I wanna big profile bait that dive 2.5 feet max any suggestions?
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 8 лет назад
Me too! Im really starting to like www.tacklewarehouse.com/River2Sea_Ish_Monroe_Biggie_Square_Bill_Crankbait/descpage-R2SBSB.html?from=tbassin in the "Smalls" size. It isnt as wide as the BDS2 though.

Great video tim I cant wait until I can get up to clear lake some day! I was wondering what prompted you to switch to a smaller hook when you were throwing the horny toad?
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 8 лет назад
Thanks Brian! My thought was that I would be able to fish it slower on the surface without sinking, but with the lighter hook the bait kept swimming upside down and the hook kept grabbing grass. The larger hook is quite a bit heavier and keeps the bait swimming upright (Most of the Time).

Hi Tim...just subscribed. I was on the ca delta a couple of weeks ago and found one of these . 2 questions. are you at clear lake in calif? and can i throw it on 20lb braid here in the delta, just gettin back into fishin in my kayak so help would be appreciated.... thanks for the vids, love em..ken
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 7 лет назад
Yeah Matt and I both live on Clearlake. You can throw 20 but you're better off with 50-65 lb. When you compare diameters, they're very thin so there is no downside to the heavier line. When they get you down in that Delta grass you'll be glad you have it!

thanks for reply, used to go to cl back in the 60's good memories...picked up a lil bass hunter ii. think i'll try cl again this spring...great vids thanks.

Do you prefer graphite over fiberglass for crankbait fishing? I have the Dobyns 704cb for my 1/4 to 1/2 Oz crankbaits but still having issues on having fish sticking on them well. I use both copolymer or fluorocarbon.
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 8 лет назад
I actually was using the 704cb with the smaller crank in this video. I haven't had any issues. Are you upgrading your hooks?
@FilipinoBMW
@FilipinoBMW 8 лет назад
+tacticalbassin I actually do not change out my hooks (trying to save a little cash here and there.) Do you use the Owner Stingers? I hear a lot of positive reviews about them. I guess I could also check the sharpness of the existing hooks.
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 8 лет назад
You just can't skimp on hooks. We use a few different hooks for crankbaits but the two main hooks are the Owner 3X and the Gamakatsu EWG. Have you ever watched our treble hook video? It will 100% change the number of fish you catch this year! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H-MxhuM8eRE.html

Nice afternoon session on the lake. 5:20 would you consider using a 4/0 shank-weighted swimbait-style hook in this situation instead of upsizing to a 6/0?
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 8 лет назад
That would work as well I've just found that particular bait to work better with that longer/deeper hook. Its just personal confidence.
@my71chevro1et
