Clearstream 4 max vs Clearstream 2 HDTV antennas using Winegard LNA 200 signal amplifier

I have been very happy with both of these antennas and the manufacturer claims for range seem to be accurate for a wide range of antennas around me. Very important to remember that we also need to use a signal amplifier, if we need this long distance antenna in the first place The Winegard LNA-200 amplifier works very well for me over 5 years now. I am able to double my number of available stations by using a signal amplifier, mounted directly below the antenna on the mast (closer to the antenna the better). My coax run is 70 feet from the antenna down to the tv, which decreases signal strength too. Plug in the amplifier power down by your tv, running your coax through that unit, and the low volt power then runs up the coax to power the amplifier unit on the mast. While pointing somewhat towards the 70 mile away antenna, (signal strength -71) it's a great picture, however in comparison, I'm not able to pull in a 60 mile away antenna, (signal strength -82) even if pointing directly at it.

This Antenna is the best one I bought , just by watching these you tube videos , from people who showed me what to do , I'm getting more and more channels all the time from just using better cables too, and the right splitter ....I thank everybody for taking out their time to help others what they know , from the guy Bette Midler rubbed her feet so close too.....

Yes and I'm still liking mine and they added the Grit channel on an antenna down in Denver too so now I'm getting it on 2 channels, AWESOME, so if one is down just go to the other.

Great review and information concerning the direction pointing of UHF/VHF antennas. I am in Northwest Fort Collins and your video put me over the edge in making this purchase for myself. Even though this video is now a year and a half old it still applies in 2022. I am getting 63 channels now so the ClearStream 4Max is still the way to go. Thanks for your post!

Thanks for watching my video, that is great news, and that absolutely was the purpose of the video-to share info. The GRIT channel I was originally attempting to receive better from Fort Morgan is now also available on channel 59.6 from Denver and I'm receiving it stronger than the Fort Morgan tower so hopefully you can bring that one. Quick question, Are you using a signal amplifier also?

@@scottfowler9870 I first tried the Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT HDTV Preamplifier (18db gain), but I needed a little more gain so I ended up installing a Channelmaster CM-7777 which has a 30db gain. An amp makes all the difference for me on those few VHF channels we have (7.1 and 9.1). I am so glad I stumbled across your review. I am really happy with my setup now!

Why not the 4v (alas C4-V-CJM)? Same as your previous but twice the size (or same are this ne but with teh reflector grill on the back).

Join the two antennas back to back with a joiner and have even better reception. Basically two antennas joined also use a cell interference remover on both. Good shielded cables help as well.

Right and the thought did cross my mind if this didn't work well enough. I wonder if there is a chance of ghost images from combining signals from 2 different antenna designs together. I sold the clearstream 2 already so I won't be able to test it.

I use the Clearstream 2 HDTV in the Phoenix area & pick up 80 to 90 channels (some duplicates). All towers are on South Mountain for the most part. Very happy with it! All new RG6 cables.

Nice, how far from the antennas are you? I wish I knew what the antennas' miles ratings for these antennas really are when using them alone or with a signal amplifier. Mine at 60-70 miles away from the towers doubles the available channels with the amplifier.

Hope you sealed out the outside connection going to this tv antenna, otherwise, your pictures will go belly up and deterriate real fast, also, you didn't drip loop your cable making sure that the moisture from rain, snow, fog doesn't get into and inside the connector corroding the center conductor of the RG 6 cable.

Just picked up this antenna today. But I have to wait until tomorrow to use since I didn’t bother reading the box; “Coaxial cable not included”. Oops. It will certainly outperform my $11 indoor flexible antenna (which gets 12 crystal clear channels).

@@elvislennon6795 It's picking up 75-83 total channels (a few are duplicates since I get so many transmitters) with the most from towards Denver and the rest towards Cheyenne and I'm in between the transmitters. I absolutely have to use the signal amplifier too. I sure hope I didnt' say 136 channels and thanks for the question, and good luck getting some free channels.

My problem is being surrounded by low lying hills, but same with my Clearstream 2 MAX, channels would come and go sometimes 42 or 36 depending on the wind or weather. Gotta love Grit. By the way can you get low VHF?

Buy a RCA dual inlet Preamp(ACE Hardware) and mount it to your pole, then mount the Clearstream 2 in the direction of your second favorite market. Also replace your older cables and connectors with the RG6 cables and connectors

ClearStream also makes preamp designed for their antennas. The model is ClearStream Juice
@danbasta3677
@danbasta3677 8 месяцев назад
When you mount it on the mast, and as you are writing, replacing the connectors, those outside connectors will need both a drip loop along with weatherizing the connectors with heat shrink to be melted over the connector along with the weather boot provided and RTV silicone to be applied over top to keep rain and moisture from getting in the connector, corroding the center conductor of your RG 6 cable.

@@Singkhorn.S I could not find a Stereo in Clear Stream Juice to join 2 antenna. Channel Master has a nicer stereo in combiner than my RCA. But I'm thinking about upgrading again to a Televes system of 2 antenna along with their combiner.
