Clematis Cuttings. A look at how I take softwood summer Clematis cuttings. Over the years I have had quite good results with softwood Clematis cuttings. So it's always worth having a go at taking cuttings I feel just to gain more plants for your own garden or to give away. I grew this Clematis from a cutting about 4 years ago now.

Does the mother plant need to be a certain size or age before taking cuttings? We’re looking at really high temps for most of next week. I’m not looking forward to it 😅 I think I’d bring any cuttings inside the house where it’s cooler. Another lovely video ☺️. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. No, I feel as long as the plant has a good bit of new growth on it taking a few cuttings will not hurt any age of the plant! I may not take cuttings of any new planted out plants until they have got established say but the cutting you take is very small I doubt it would even hurt that. Yep, very hot here I don't give mine a lot of hope as far too hot even in the shade! But I just love having a go at this kind of thing! Good luck with your cuttings. K.
