I've been on holidays.. From filming and editing also.
So I thought I'd give you this little vid while I work on some other things.
Enjoy.
Former commonwealth railways CL7
Now CLF3 - Australian EMD unit, the last streamline locomotives built in the world in the 1970s!
The engine is an EMD 3300hp Turbocharged V16 2 stroke - producing 3000hp for traction.
Built by clyde engineering - rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen - Uniquely Australian.

I reckon the CLP & CLF Bulldog loco’s would have to be the Epitome of EMD’s design, one tough beautiful looking locomotive and we are the lucky last to design and build it and to see it working, l have seen her working a couple of times while helping my brother rebuild a few old Ford Mustangs and others from his property in Wandong but l always have to down tools whenever a train comes thru just to have a look what it is! But l have to say the CLF looks pretty darn good in white.

@NoBody-ht1oh
@NoBody-ht1oh 3 года назад
There is no routine mate. It’s weekends, nights, late starts, early starts, all in the same week. Plenty of sunrises and minimal sleep. It can be challenging in many ways. In particular the fatigue, missing social events and family milestones It’s also good pay, not labour intensive, interesting while you’re learning at least, lots of responsibility and challenging when things go bad.

No body is right, its a mentally and emotionally tough job, it can be the best one week, and suck the life out of you the next, you sleep during the day, up all night, see the sun go down and up, there's countless rules and regs, every location is different, the signals, the different equipment, it's hard on relationships, it's hard on mates, you work rotating rosters that run around the clock 365 days, you work public holidays, Christmas, you miss out on time with family. It takes absolute dedication, you have to want to do it, and enjoy the challenges that are thrown at you almost daily, I could write for hours. I run the fb page, "tales of the footplate" hoping to get some anonymous railway stories from times gone, although people are quite shy when it comes to talking about rail experiences, because some stay with you forever. It's a great job, it's rewarding, you habe an enormous amount of responsibility, and you have to know everything about just about everything before they will let you drive these on the mainline. My videos are to show the fun parts but there's plenty I could show you of the job that would turn people off.. Hmmmm maybe an idea for another short film

Is that Nathan AirChime old cast P5 horn? That was rare in today's day, the newer cast does not produce pretty harmonic like the old cast does. This specific P5 play the same chord as the M5. The note and frequency is : 0. 220Hz A 1. 277Hz C# 2. 329Hz E 3. 392Hz G 4. 440Hz A 5. 554Hz C# The M5 only play the number 1 to 5 and number 0 bell only available for P horn only. While the new cast play (3rd gen P horn) : 0. 220Hz A 1. 294Hz D 2. 349Hz F 3. 415Hz G# 4. 440Hz A 5. 523Hz C Even the old cast P5 sound pretty, the M5 still the prettiest horn I've ever heard. But unfortunately I never heard such horn in real life. The only train horn i ever experienced hearing it in real life is only Wabco AA2 play D and G, and new cast Indonesian P2. Which is bell no. 1&4 play D and A. Don't confused with the American P2 which use the bell no. 1%2 play C# and E (old cast) and play D and F (new cast)
@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER

No that one is a new cast, but it does sound slightly odd. Never been a huge fan of the NC P5 but some do sound nice!
@rahmanaridho
@rahmanaridho 3 года назад
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER really? I thought it was an old cast. So.... you mean the new cast P5, when it's become out of tune (odd), it's make pretty sound? Wow, what a discovery. But, to be honest with you, I've never heard new cast P5 sound so pretty like yours. Or maybe it's have different tuning for Australian use, like the K5-UL-AU-LS version of K5LA? I don't know a lots about it, because the information from the internet is so little, seems like restricted. So did Australian get it's own tuning on P horn? Like on the K horn BTW, what gauge you use in Aussie, because I've been watched video about flying scotsman while back, and it's use standard gauge. While on Wikipedia I've read about some of Indonesian locomotive have been shipped to Australia, it is CC203 or GE U20C, and in Indonesia we use metre gauge. So, what gauge did Australian use?
@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER 3 года назад
@@rahmanaridho yes it's an odd sounding new cast we have various P5s here and many sound different, possibly due to fouling or bells not sounding maybe even casting or machining differences. In Australia we have a few gauges, standard Guage is Australia wide or interstate, victoria still has broad gauge for its suburban and regional trains, so has south Australia but limited to heritage networks. NSW is almost all SG Tasmania, QLD and westen Australia have extensive Narrow gauge networks - 3' 6" There some isolated 2' 6" railways around too. As well as the sugar cane railways in QLD which use 2ft gauge. So there's quite a mix here!! I
