Yes sir your defination of this mater is very wonderful. Please exactly if you can daignose other car matter in this way it will be very pleasant. Thankyou
I would hear a clunk and it was my upper control arm. Now I’m leaking power steering from my rack and pinion so I’m ordering a new one. I just want my car to sound smooth again at this point I’m doing whole front suspension one piece at a time.
@@mrhyde0705 facts I ended up doing everything tho bro lol I did tie rods and rack together when I made this comment. But my charger sounds amazing pump is no longer whining from being stressed out. Only thing I gotta change as of recent is my brakes that’s nothing tho.
I just replaced mine. Getting the axle nut off took hours. I went and got a 2ft long 1/2" breaker bar and it finally worked. This is after torching it for 5 minutes straight too. That was the only hard thing to figure out, the rest was pretty easy. Also nowadays it's best just to replace the whole axle, no good reason not to.
I had the same problem with axle nuts. The best trick I ever learned was to heat the axle up nice and hot, then rub a candle around the hot axle close to the axle nut. The heat will melt the wax and draw it into the nut threads. Really stubborn ones may need two applications, but if the car is clean, once does it.
@@Motorcarnut Hmm, I can literally see the liquid wax being pulled into the nut. And, I've had more than one axle nut that wouldn't come off with heat, but popped right off when wax was used.
My escape has 202k on it and the drivers side cv axle was doing this but it didn’t have a torn boot. I replaced it and took the old one apart and the grease had liquefied so I assume that’s why mine went bad.
Mine even does it when I go straight, it does it going over even the smallest dip or rise in road and it actually does it less when turning idk what it is
My car makes clicking noise too I didn’t see any tears on the boots but I noticed my tie rods swivel to much so I’m hoping replacing those would fix the clicking noise if not then it’s this lol
@@Motorcarnutand what happens when the clicking noise not load sometimes happens when just going straight it’s 1.8 vtec I really hope it’s not the transmission because it feels silky smooth need to take it to my mechanic next week I’m a bit worried I hope it’s just the cv joints I would rather upgrade them for the power flex ones than the original parts
BMW E92 2008 my one just shakes aggressively at high speeds 60-70mph really bad vibrations like the car is going to fall apart. Do you reckon is front a CV Joint as well ? Thanks
I have a golf 6 gti where i changed right cv axel, both spring(one was broke), suspensions flange and some bushes. I still have a sound when i turn left and its more noticeble when im on bumpy roads. Any advice?
Hard to know without hearing what you're talking about, sure it isn't coming from the left side? Could be s brake shield? Or the worse would be the output shaft on the transmission. But if it happens over bumps it's probably something hitting in the suspension somewhere.
I'm pissed because this use to be a cheap fix. I need two CV's! I was all excited to get them fixed this weekend only to have to put it off for a while. Thank goodness i have two vehicles. 500. Job is now 1150 😡🤬😡🤬😡. I showed them the receipt from a couple of years ago. Labor prices, etc have changed. I usually fix once and never have issues again. Twice I've had to get same part replace. Ac compressor on my cadillac went bad. Got that replaced it was still on warranty! Now my CVS was done two years ago so I have to come out of pocket for that 😢😢😢😢.
Well that's why you do it yourself! I did. It only costed $30 for tools, for the long breaker bar I needed. I already had all the other tools. But that's way too much for that. This is an easy job if you got the right tools. You're being scammed. This is why I try to do all the labor myself whenever possible.
@Motorcarnut I've thought about doing it myself. But I don't have what I need to do it. I'll shop around first before rent tools needed to do it myself.
@austinhernandez2716 I said the same thing. That's way too much money for that. And yeah doing it myself was the second option. It's way too hot in Florida and where I park there's no shade. I'll shop around for a bit and if all else fails. I'll just do like you said and rent tools needed. I do everything else myself. But never this though.
Currently having a similar issue with my 2019 equinox with 71k miles. I just had the sway links replaced since they were pretty shot and the drive feels a bit better. I tested my car at around 20-25 miles an hour and I can hear this weird knocking/clicking noise when I'm doing little "evasive maneuvers." In other words turning the wheel sharply left and right while going down the road. The noise happens when turning both left and right as well. I'm hoping its an inner tie rod out of wack, since the tie rods don't look great either. Any advice?
Can very well be the tie rods. If you can get a crowbar in the joints while the truck is on the ground see if you can see excessive movement from any parts of the steering, if so tht would be the culprit.
Thank you for this video I have a 2021 Hayundai Kona and it makes this noise you describe when I'm turning and backing in sometimes. It makes the noise on the right side. Is this something that you think is covered under warranty ? Thank you in advance for any advice.😊 Excellent !!! video
hearing a clicking noise when going straight, doesnt seem to get louder/faster with speed, most prominently heard at 20-50mph. no play in all 4 wheels, no grease anywhere. thinking transmission coupler? any idea?
My mechanic just replaced all my shocks and struts and my car was to low scraping the ground. I contacted the seller i bought the kit from and he sent me a video on how to highten the front struts. I lifted the front about 2.5 inches and as soon as i left my work now i hear the clicking metal noise when i start to turn my wheels left or right. So im gonna lower my car by half an inch hoping it would make the noise go away. And its only when im still and about to turn making a left or right. I guess ill still buy the rest of the parts to replace since i did the shocks and struts if the noise dont go away.
@@MotorcarnutHi, we just had my struts replaced and shocks about a month ago… now I hear clicking noise only when make a sharp turn. Does that have something to do with the struts??🤔
Yup noise got worse as I turned left and right so I bought Monroe struts and installed them myself and noise went away. But I still get a small break rubbing noise when I make a left turn, and I got my cars alignment done.
Hi! My VW Polo when driving straight is no issue but when i do a u turn or move the steering left and right enough, it make a sound like a bed spring? Not sure if its even save to drive or not
Mine has been light clicking for about a few weeks. I’m getting ready to check it out. I think I’ll grease it and reattach the boot before replacing the whole axle. Lol.
What would be a small thump noise when the car is on and in park. I turn the steering wheel slightly left a few times i hear a small thump noise. It wont make noise when driving and turning. Just when in park or if im parallel park or pulling out of park while turning left?
Hey mate, my 1994 Hilux makes an aggressive clicking noise when travelling at 20-40kph no matter what direction I’m driving, I just recently had both cvs replaced. Any ideas at what it could be?
Hi sir, my alto LXI 2010 Front wheels when turning clicking noise ... I am recently new staring rack replacement.. but turning clicking noise not stopped... What solution turning clicking noise ???
My boots look completely fine and this noise happens like 20 minutes after driving or sometimes five minutes it's very inconsistent. If it wasn't cv joint for a clicking noise when turning what else could it be?
Could be something near the axles that are interfering with the wheels, maybe the brake shield or a wheel bearing starting to fail. Very rare cases I’ve seen it to be the transmission.
Depends on how bad they are, If I were there I can tell you but I'm not. Because if they fail the vehicle could get stuck like it's in neutral and could be dangerous.
I have click noise on my CX5 2023, only when turning right and only hear the click noise if my turning more than 20mph. No clicks while reversing nor in complete stop. I was able to record some videos since I can easily replicate the noise. I wonder if this would be the CV joint...
I have already, even took out one of the guys out for a drive to replicate the noise, they acknowledged it and yet their conclusion is to drive without the headrest on. Lol. However, I will be going back soon, demanded for a loaner and asked them to figure it out.
I have a 2020 WRX that click/creaks when turning left at slow speeds, or backing out of driveway. It sounds suspension related, but onky happens when a change in the steering geometry takes place. I did outer tie rod, the inner moves fine and silent, I have zero play in my wheel, and my top mounts seem fine. tF?
@@Motorcarnut turned out it was the passenger top mount. It was racked from an impact, so when it reached a certain point in the rotation it would “flop over” and rub on itself. 10 minute / $50 fix. 😎👍
Well mines only make a noise when I first leave forward or in reverse. Only once it did it consistently for like 3 secs in very slow speed. Literally to park. I checked and i do have a ripped boot. Chances are that’s what is giving me the clicking right?
IS IT A "CLICKING" SOUND OR "CLUNKING" SOUND?? AND HOW LOUD IS THIS SOUND?? DO YOU HAVE TO ROLL YOUR WINDOWS DOWN TO HEAR IT OR CAN YOU HEAR IT FROM INSIDE THE CAR??
Same problem I have right now only when turning left or when I’m a complete stop and I accelerate fast I hear the clunky noise but once I go straight I won’t hear it anymore, I took it to a shop and they told me it’s transfer case which I don’t believe it is, even when we look underneath the car ,the front drive side cv axle was leaking max grease and rubber it’s broken, they still for some reason keep saying it’s transfer case , so I took it out of the shop , will look for another mechanic , any advice????
Hey. I’m having this exact noise in my car when turning the wheel. But I’m also noticing my steering wheel is pulling me to the left now, and my steering wheel also has a lot of play / is loose. It seems dangerous to drive at high speeds. Could these be related?
Very possible, I would have it checked out immediately because a ball joint or any part of the suspension or steering can just become loose and fall off.
So I had no clicking, more of a clunk. Swapped CV axles, now I hear a low click sound but only when steering wheel is turned, also had all my tie rod ends replaced as well.
@@Motorcarnutwhat about just a single click/thud on wheel full lock? New arm with ball joint, new tie rod end installed. For failed cv joint I was expecting multiple click/continuous noise…. Many thanks
Hard to know without seeing it since you replaced a lot of parts already but there is got to be play somewhere in the steering could be the rack or steering shaft
I got a 1999 Buick regal it makes a clicking noise I cannot find it I had my dad look to see if he could find sense he’s a mechanic and he couldn’t find it so we replaced the cv axle and it still makes a clicking sound when I turn the wheel to the right I don’t know what is it
@@Motorcarnut I honestly thought something is rubbing I’m still not to sure tho it only does it when you turn it to the right it doesn’t do it when you turn left that’s what is strange about it but thank you anyway :)
I had clicking noise on my CRV when turn steering wheel. I changed the drivers side cv axle it went away but it still does it faintly not as loud as before very minor when turning. What can this be??
If the clinking noise is constant then I wouldn’t think it’s the ball joints but if they are really bad it may appear to be constant and either way should be replaced because of safety concerns.
I drive a Tl also and I have a grinding/scrapingg noise when I turn left or right. even in park and when I drive straight its fine any ideas.@@Motorcarnut
When i steer my car full it makes tik tik tik sound, that's too from one left end of car. It wasn't there until I done servicing of my car. It started only after servicing. They had removed both front shockers for inspection. Can you please advise?
@Motorcarnut I recently tightened down the sway bar brackets and changed the sway bar links in my car. That's when this stuff started happening. Maybe I frigged some of that up and that's why?
I have bad Cv joint but no fluid comes out it has been clicking for more than five moths now when I do turns. Today, while on the highway 🛣️ the both front wheels 🛞 behaved as if they are going to ripped apart when I slow dow everything became normal. So, I realised it’s time to change it straight away I can’t afford to take risk anymore.
@@Motorcarnut very true, I honestly need to replace my entire front suspension… but this is a good start. In total I plan on replacing the hubs, axles, upper and lower control arms, pittman arm, swar bar links, and shocks.
@Motorcarnut It doesn't vibrate like my primary car did, which got bad going from vibrating at high speeds (55-65) to low speeds (35-45mph) eventually and gradually. Replaced drivers side cv axle and all is good. On my old car (07 Saturn Ion-2 2.2) it's just a slight click/faint thump. No vibration at all. Think I should replace them or I got a while?
I just had a tire change due to a hit and run. Got my car back two days ago and now it's clicking randomly. I noticed it is during turns . Also there is a small puddle near that tire.
@@Motorcarnut $200 an hour? Oh god lol I’m gonna try to find a mechanic. I know Honda is gonna kill my pockets smh. I’m just concerned it isn’t gonna be done correctly if I don’t go to Honda 🥴
@janaya36 that’s why I said try an independent shop, it’s an axle not too hard to do, you can watch some of my videos on axle removal and do it yourself if you’re handy.
@@Motorcarnuti think its the cv joint cuz they said the boot was alittle separated when i got my brakes and rotors done. After i got it dont i start hearing this light knocking type noise when i turn right mainly
Hey boss im getting a single click sound from my rear left wheel, specifically when going up a driveways. I looked under and noticed grease leaking from the axle on the diff side. I got it changed but im still getting a single clicking every time i go up driveways an sometimes when i give it full throttle
Those can be tricky to find because you can’t be under the car while it’s making that noise. It could be a wheel bearing, axle on outer side something in the suspension as well
I have a Chevy Malibu 2005. It makes a grinding clicking noise only when I turn right or do a u-turn also makes a squeaking noise whenever I go over a hump or railroad tracks. When I turn left it doesn’t make that noise.
It's probably one of the cv joint axles going bad, look at the boots and see it you see wet grease of ripping and the squeak is probably one of the suspension parts that are worn.
