Cliff Burton was without a doubt the best bass player of Metallica, and also one of the best bassists of all time. The fact that he can play the bass like a lead guitar is unbelievable. He took a background instrument and put it on front. That is what i call talent! R.I.P
If you like that then please check out Stewart hams album the urgewhy Stewart plays bass Eric Johnson plays guitar the song The Hammer they switch lead from bass to guitar truly a unique piece of music. 😷 2020
Lars and James were looking for a guitarist and heard a tape of Cliff. They thought they found their guitar player and went to a gig he was playing only to discover the dude was playing a bass. They had to have him and the rest is history. RIP Cliff. You'll always be the best.
They saw him perform for trauma in San Fransisco after losing Ron mcgovny, they wanted him in the band so bad they all moved from LA to SF (by cliffs request) to kickstart their new band in the SF Bay Area scene.
That not true at all. They went to a trauma show and heard cliff soloing, they thought it was a guitar only to find out it was a bass after counting 4 strings.
What abt 2:34 - 2:52, Cliff is way more ahead of other bassist skills. So far, this is more than 30 years as no one can create a better bass leading song better than Cliff did. 😍😍😍
Cliff was a bass player, he was in trauma, which is where james and Lars seen him, they recruited him after seeing him onstage. He didn't play guitar., at least not in the public eye
I miss him so much. When I first got into Metallica, he was INSTANTLY my favorite member. I didn't know why, I only listened to Sanitarium and barely knew the members but when I saw Cliff, I was immediately hooked! I thought he left the band and went reclused (kinda like Syd Barrett minus drugs & solo career), but he died. 😭 Very young, too. I was honestly cried when I read stories about him ngfl. I always wondered what or where Metallica would be if Cliff was alive. ♅
You guys are forgetting something, Cliff Burton isn't dead until we kill him. By remembering him, and knowing who he WAS makes him who he IS today. So for the love of all that is metal, never forget this man, tell your children, have them tell their children. Maybe, just maybe, he will live on forever... Don't let this legend die a senseless death like it's owner. He will be remembered, and in this remembrance, he cannot die until we say so. ~ Taylor
Man I wish i was born in this year ( 80's ) when i first started playing bass i was playing the bass without passion. Then i started viewing youtube for bass solo's then in somehow for the past 7 years i've watched this video and gain confidence and passion to play my bass guitar. Now i play my bass guitar with confidence and its all because of cliff burton, He lives in me even if i dont know him that much, He's my inspiration ! CLIFF EM ALL !| R.I.P Cliff We will never forget you !
I cry because he died a day before I was born, and I guess picking up the guitar at the age of 24 I am 27 now and I know how to play songs from Black Sabbath to Slayer and some of Metallica and sometimes I wonder, did he give me something I had all of this time? he is without a shadow of a doubt the best Bassist whoever picked up a instrument, may this wonderful man I never had the chance to meet and see live rest peacefully thank you for the best 3 albums ever made far as metal. \m/ Metal God!!
+Best Metal he began bass solos, and because metallica had begun to hit it big at the time, it caused him to gain more fame from it. He "is" the best thrash metal bass player, but in rock/hard rock, punk, psychedelic (or what ever its called), and other genres, he is not.
Where did you go, what has happened to such an impowering full of greatness man, such as yourself? Through 1962 to 1986 you have blessed everyone with your presence and your music. You are always in the hearts and souls of the true followers. The ones who let metal live on to it's peak of fulfillment. You are another greatness taken from us for no reason, but for the sake of god. You will always live in our hearts and we will always carry your name like a torch in the dark night!
this sounds sonically better than most guitar players...and he's playing with his fingers... I just started playing bass 2 weeks ago...had no idea you could sound like this. Amazing.
The line at 1:36 is in a WatchMojo video, and as dumb as this might sound, that is what got me into metal. Thank you Cliff, RIP. You helped me find my life’s passion in music.
We all get into it somehow🤷🏻♂️ I discovered Metallica by watching a guitar hero RU-vidr do a try not to headbang challenge because I was a big hair metal fan and exclusively the wave of British metal, but then I heard “Trapped Under Ice” and I became absolutely obsessed with Metallica. From May-December2019 I listened to Metallica on Spotify for over 50,000 minutes
My idol of my short life the truth is my fucking hero my fucking idol for me the best bassist of the world do not inportan what I say, hopefully cliff fence when you die ... Clifford Lee Burton R.I.P
What a great bassist!! He rivals even John Entwistle. Cliff was playing for only about 9 yrs. I would love to hear what he would be playing now if he was still with us. What a loss, seriously. RIP Cliff. \^^/
every year i take this day to remember cliff and what happend to him that tragic day, cliff made me into the musician i am today, rest in peace cliff burton i love you and ill meet you on the other side.
Cliff is killing it and then Lars comes in and ruins everything with his shitty sounding drums. His whole career he's been Casio keyboard rhythm track- precision but no soul.
i am # 419 subscriber........Cliff was a master and i have always loved this solo from the second i was into metallica when i was like 12..,,,..need one more sub for the toka time hahah rip Cliff
Cliff will always be the best that there ever was and a man who was way before our time Cliff lived too short as many icons have throughout time, But this man was the greatest...Happy Birthday Cliff...R.I.P............................InnI
Thanks for the upload. I, sadly, forgot where my inspiration all came from. Not just as a bad player, bit a musician, in general. Thank you, and Cliff.
