Had no choice with this one because the barrel was bent, and needed replacing. The shorter barrel allowed for a silencer that didn't make the barrel and rifle look too long. I think Cliff has sold this one on now, but I really liked the rifle. The Jumbo 500 is one step above this though in how well the trigger is in comparison. I think they got feed back from this rifle and improved the triggers .

It can still be worked on, but he's only just got this far. Did you realise that pellet choice can also make all the difference to spread. I found this out while doing pellet tests through the same rifle barrel other week during pellet testing. Can't remember which rifle I was using though. I was using the Daystate Rangemaster Soveriegn at 8.44 grain, and compared it to the worst result, a BSA Fury at 10.5 grain. The fury was about 33 ft/p/s spread compared to around 7 ft/p/s with the Daystate, with a standard deviation of only around 3 ft/p/s. Sometimes you can also get a low or high shot that can upset the apple-cart, so it's not always about the ft/p/s sread, but more about the standard deviation. A regulator could solve the problem of shot spread, but we talked this at the club and both new that it would upset the lines of the rifle with the bottle sticking out a couple of inches out from the stock. This can be overcome by using pipe between bottle and stock, but it needs to be done well. Cliff has actually gone with the BSA Fury because it performs really well through the rifle. I haven't chronographed them since the changes, but I expect it will have made a difference to the performance in any case. The R10 bottle would probably fit, but it is a bit smaller. Rowan Engineering do fiberglass bottles to fit these though, and I am sure it would look even better.

They even kept this one quiet from us this time, but it looks like the brand has been going over to side lever in development over the past two years or so. It takes a while from idea to go to production. When you think about it most manufacturers now days come out with something new towards the US shot show and IWA Show in Germany. Sometimes it will be a small tweak, then other times it will be something completely new. There was a worry that the Huntsman may go altogether at one time, but being the most popular rifle over the years its now deserved an uplift, and I think this will be among the most popular rifles in the range now for quality and price. They really have done well over the past eighteen months in hammer, regulator, sidelever development from both Daystate and Brocock. I would definitely go for one of the new Huntsmans, but its all about choice at the end of the day. The HW100 / HW110 are also both great options as well and i would be happy with either. With the new Huntsman Revere I would definitely go for its classic hunting lines though. Hopefully I will get one soon to test, as I can imagine quite a few of our club members will be drooling over the new one, which comes with the latest magazine as well.

Hello Marcello. A friend at the club, Cliff Kirkman, purchased the rifle off another club member, Dave Palmer, and Cliff made all the alterations himself. He's an engineer by profession and has his own lathe and milling machine, making his own shrouds, silencers and other componants. The barrel that he fitted was off of a BSA R10 that he had lying around spare. He modified the hammer and fitted an anti bounce spring, so it's not one that I can give you a link for I'm afraid. The original Kral barrel was bent. Dave Palmer had purchased it in good faith from a dealer and it appeared that whoever had it before had not looked after it. The current rifle is now much more in proportion, as the UK Kral's are just detuned US verisons with FAC barrels that are almost 23 inches long and make fitting a silencer give it an out of proportion length. There are plenty of after market shrouds available if you search online.

It didn't cost him anything apart from his own time. He already had a spare BSA barrel and being good with a lathe was able to do the rest. Not bad when you can do it all yourself. It would have cost a fortune otherwise.
