The way your eyes light up when Olivia begans to sing. Your respect for her vocals are so sincere. Thank you for being a treat to us all. Watching you is like experiencing the song for the first time all over again
Olivia was a protege of Cliff Ricard in her early days. He was famous and invited her to his TV shows giving her great exposure at the beginning of her career. The song "Suddenly" is superb. There were even rumours they were romantically involved. But they never married. But they are still great friends.
Hi Empress. I am so glad you reviewed this !!!!! I truly hope you watch and listen to this many times, as it is a slow burner, but once you are burned, you will revisit it over and over again, for eternity. Cliff and Olivia are the greatest duet coupling ever. This is also their greatest duet ever, even placed above "suddenly ". Cliff made Olivia in the UK, and openly admits he was in love with her. Cliff was fast approaching 57 when this video was recorded. It is unquestionably the greatest duet performance of all time. Both at their vocal and physical peak. An extremely intricate, difficult song to perform, what with blending their respective but markedly different, contributions together. For me, with vocal control in mind, this is the greatest performance of Cliff's career. He is the world's master balladeer, and, ...... despite over 140 (!) UK hit singles of his own, he is also undoubtedly the greatest cover artist of all time. In the UK, back in the 60s, 70s and 80s, songwriters prayed for Cliff to cover their songs, his status being what it was, and still is. I know the USA missed out on Cliff as a result of some underhanded input from Elvis Prickly, but Elvis always knew he could never lace Cliff's boots. The song is from the HEATHCLIFF album, an album named after, and coceptually built around, the famous Wuthering Heights novel. You are a breath of fresh air, Empress, and your voice is matched by your beauty and your enthusiasm. Consider me "subscribed " !!!
Hi Empress! Just noticed I got the figure wrong mentioned below for breaking Advance Ticket Sales Records in both the West End and Broadway for HeathCliff. It was £8.5 million pounds that was made on the first day of sale alone ... not £2.5 million pounds as I wrote in the 'Highlighted comment' below! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and enjoy a lovely and peaceful new year. God bless Paul x😀
@@diannabennett1769 I too, am totally obsessed with this one, Dianna. Unquestionably the greatest duet of all time, and also Cliff's definitive controlled vocal delivery. A superb album, but this is the stand out, indeed, stand alone, cut. So glad you like this. Cliff and Olivia were simply untouchable as a performing (not just recording), duet. Their chemistry is so genuine and natural. Should have got married! 😁😁😁.
FINALLY! Yes, another really good duet for ONJ. Now, I'll keep harping on you to listen to Livin in Desperate Times, Take a Chance (duet with John Travolta), and Shaking You; all from the Two of a Kind soundtrack (remember Twist of Fate)! And, when I say "harping", I mean it in the friendliest way. :-)
@@scottarooni I hope you have discovered many more tracks from Cliff. Check out the disgracefully underrated album of his called "31st Of February Street". He wrote half the songs, and his delivery shows this.
@@BrianVincent-gz2dq Thank you for the tip! I do own Cliff Richard's Greatest Hits album ("The Cliff Richard Collection"), and I bought the U. S. vinyl release of "I'm No Hero" because I loved the song "Dreamin'" when it was released.
It was very exciting when this returned Olivia to the UK charts with her first original hit single since 1982's Landslide, 13 years earlier! (I don't really count the Grease Megamix....)
Empress, I think this is my favourite Olivia reaction of yours so far loved it 😁 this was from a stage musical and you can just see it fitting into that genre! How about something different again from Olivia her overlooked late 80s album the Rumour, would love to to react to Lets Talk About Tomorrow which was about the planet and social issues, Olivia was always ahead of the game, and also the title track written by Elton John ' The Rumour'
Cliff and Olivia have recorded at least one song together for the last 5 decades. 70's: Dont Move Away. 80's: Suddenly 90's: Had to Be (and four more). 00's: Let it be me 10's : Everybody's Someone...
I didn't know where to put this link to Olivia singing Anyone Had A Heart. I hope this link is right ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KeLMrpN2JHk.html check it out. It won't disappoint. I promise😅
Empress WELL DONE! At last a reaction to a song from my favourite musical which I attended 59 times at the front and the stage ... HeathCliff! Your reaction is SUPER, but Please watch the 'DVD' of HeathCliff where All the singers, actresses, actors, and dancers, are ALL at their incredible BEST and versions of EVERY song and piece of music from the musical (which broke advance ticket sales records taking £2.5 million pounds on first day of sale alone) are DEFINITELY the Best versions!! The cast were All so lovely, and i've made sure I have met at least half of them (and the entourage) again when they have appeared in 'other' musicals. I have on my bedroom wall the Platinum award for 300,000 sales of each of the 2 HeathCliff albums. Love Paul😀♥♥xx
😀@@EmpressReacts Hi Empress! The reason i'm going on about the DVD (for some reason the first 20 minutes of 'Act 2' in the musical have not been put anywhere on line) is because the CD 'HeathCliff Live' (which can be found on line) was recorded right at the 'start' of the musical in October 1996 - But the DVD version where you see the musical as well as hear it = was recorded and filmed 4 and 5 days before the END of the musical on May 13th and May 12th 1997. Anyone who attended both an earlier and later performance of this show will tell you that HeathCliff was much more Vicious, Cathy was much more flirtatious, and Isabella was also 'much stronger' in her singing And whole performance. Although I don't follow Cliff Richard how he is now, I have to say that despite what people might say or think of him, he was BRILLIANT at HeathCliff. But there were 6 main actresses and actors in the musical: Cathy (played by Helen Hobson an excellent West End stage actress even now) was the main 'lead' part. Though i'm still in love with Sara Haggerty who played Isabella!! 😀♥♥xx
@@paulhuggett7503 Hey Paul. Clearly a fellow "Cliffite",... a word that has caught on with fans, and I am proud to have formed it. The album is fantastic, and I have watched the video of Heathcliff at least a 100 times since my initial purchase. VERY FRUSTRATING is that pub juke boxes play the version by the actress and actor! So annoying that they do not have this version from Cliff and Olivia.
This was from a studio album by Cliff Richard called “Songs From Heathcliff” which was from his self conceived musical “Heathcliff” based on the novel by Emily Bronte,”Wuthering Heights!” The music is composed by John Farrar (Olivia’s producer) and Tim Rice! There are 5 duets with Olivia on this collection! This is the best of the bunch but they are all interesting! This is a taste of ONJ if she did Broadway! The single went to #22 on the pop chart in England! The song was virtually ignored here in the US! As a matter of fact, when this album was released in 1995, it was not available at all in the United States! I had to order it from a distributor on the internet (along with “Gaia”-ONJ’s solo 1994 album!). Anyway, it is magical to hear the smooth interplay between Olivia and Cliff! Olivia’s part is very small but she does a stellar job with her range coming into the track strong and then moves into subtle nuisances! I’m glad you experienced it! I’m sure at some point you’ll hear the other 4 duets with Cliff! Next one I recommend is “Dream Tomorrow!” I love that you enjoyed Cliff so much on this track! You will really appreciate his work. I recommend “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and “Dreamin’l💕
first of all, thanx for taking the time to write all of this 😍 that's why i call you guys my teachers. secondly, wow how much do i ❤ john farrar, he really knew how to produce Olivia. thirdly, how cool is Cliff to conceive this musical 😂 this was 🔥 glad it charted in the top 30 in the UK and the US doesn't know what they missed! this song is soo cool - i don't see how anybody could not like this song
You have another Cliff/Olivia duet to add to the list. Happens to be the first one they did, and it’s right before Olivia ventured to start her solo career back in 1971. It’s called Don’t Move Away.
Heathcliff was brilliant. Cliff funded the theatre show himself and played Heathcliff. There are some great songs from that show. Olivia wasn't in the show. The part of Cathy was played by Helen Hobson. He was absolutely gorgeous in it and us fans really took to the beard he grew especially for the show 🙂. x
Wow! I totally forgot about this song. You should of done the live one when Olivia made her appearance she was like...I got this but not like a diva way😂. This song is beautiful but Olivia didn't get much singing in this. You know this song is made from a cartoon like Heath cliff. Thanks for the reaction
You stupid with them Cliff low vocal impressions LMAO! Olivia went theee hardest when she was singing with Cliff. Them long sweet notes were pure BLISS! Yes ONJ!
This one was also put out about a year ago with both of them doing a duet period it is called everybody's someone ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R4kkzytmbbc.html
@@EmpressReacts I hope you react to “The Best Of Me” (with David Foster)! Cliff Richard is my favorite duet partner for ONJ but her collaboration with David Foster is my favorite ONJ duet!💕
You have to react to "Evergreen" by Barbra Streisand. It is in the movie " A Star Is Born". I think you will like. Not sure if you have reacted to it. 🙏
Very different. Not one of my favorites, but they always sound great together. You MUST react to Please Don't Ask Me with John Farnham. A live performance with full orchestra. You know ONJ can bring it, but wait until you hear Farnham. Prepare to have your mind blown! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2uV_tZODfK8.html
