"Reflections of Earth" is my absolute favorite Disney Night time Spectacular and I have always wanted to really get this video to be absolutely "perfect". Well,...after 3 & 1/2 years or shooting, re-shooting, failed edits and re-edits, bumped tripods, nasty lens flares, countless render and image processing plugin crashes and general technical problems GALORE,....it's FINALLY done! No, it's not the "perfect" video I wanted (sadly, it's still far from that) but I'm happy with the over all result for now and it's a massive upgrade over my last version.
I put ALLOT shot planning and technical effort into capturing as much of the low light background of the show and to do it with with as much 4k detail as I could. If you look closely, some scenes actually show staff working on the globe barge during the show! I have said this before; From a videographer's prospective, "Reflections of Earth" could easily be THE most technically difficult event that anybody could ever try to shoot. The dynamic range of light is truly extreme, making correct exposure VERY difficult or even impossible. The action changes rapidly and wildly, forcing you to carefully ride your iris constantly. Long telephoto lenses and wind conditions with guests huddled around you stepping on your tripod stand and walking in front of you adds to the challenge!
Anyhoo,...it's done for now. I'll will try to make a new video of RoE one more time again before the show leaves us forever. (RoE 2019?) I already have many ideas on how to improve the next one over this one and hopefully, it will be the next big leap in quality over this version.
I dont even want to think about what that very last night of "Reflections of Earth" will feel like after being in my heart for 20 years. [gulp!]
It's a shame that RU-vid compresses their videos so much. The blacks and shadows really get crushed and macroblock pretty bad. The original 4k master is much cleaner than these online copies. I wish everyone could see that instead :-(

I'm working on the last edit of this show. I'm using 100% all new footage with VERY different recording equipment. (I'm actually RENTING quite a bit of special gear on this.) I can tell that the 2019 version with destroy this one in every way. ;-)

CLIFFLIX We should’ve had a petition :( I hope the new show will be hated so much that they’re forced to bring ROE back! I’m unfortunately going in mid October when the new show will be already there and I’m planning on going on Test Track with my grandpa so my mom will be forced to watch it and I will be so surprised if she says that this was better

CLIFFLIX - My wife and I have enjoyed IllumiNations for almost all of our married lives (we were wed in '96, moved to Florida in '97 and saw IllumiNations since its inception at the turn of the millennium). Since then we have loved this show - its music, its lights, its fire, its power and its uplifting message. It always left us in tears afterward. Its choreography and timing were impeccable. Its soul-stirring passages and colorful imagery were spectacular. Experiencing this show literally made me want to be a better human being and gave me a restored faith in mankind every time I saw it. Nothing in my life has ever affected me like that before. That being said, my wife and I agree - IllumiNations - Reflections of Earth touched us deeply. And I strongly feel that anyone who ever saw it over its 20-year run was touched in the same way. My wife and I were fortunate enough to see one of the final showings of IllumiNations on Saturday, September 28, 2019. With a $30 glass of champagne in each of our hands (Disney style $$), we watched the final show - and then danced slowly to our "Anniversary Song", Kellie Coffey's "We'll Go On" (we adopted the song as an anniversary song years ago, because - well you've heard it, so you understand). It was a bittersweet moment, knowing we'd never hear this song again in the context of the park. But knowing people like you have lovingly preserved these moments in time for all of us who know and understand the brilliance of IllumiNations, brings us some solace. Knowing we can watch this spectacle on RU-vid anytime we want to indulge in the magic of Disney past is both a joy and a relief. Thank you so much for recording one of the most inspirational moments in time with such care. I so look forward to seeing your final finished product. Your IllumiNations opus. For all the world to see and enjoy as one of the most moving pieces of abstract outdoor art ever created. May this masterpiece live on in the hearts and minds of those who saw it firsthand at Epcot - and those who get to enjoy it through your thoughtfully finished vision.

Cliffix, you bring happiness to me everyday! Your video quality blows the others out of the water! When other channels tried to capture every element of the Tree of Life Awakening, they didn’t. But when you came to deliver us with a video, you delivered! Someone finally got the searchlight light cannons that light up in the lion scene of the projection show. You put 1971% percent into all of you videos! This is what Walt Disney would’ve wanted in his Disney. Thank you for keeping Walt’s dream alive in the parks!

I honestly don't understand how this doesn't have millions of views. In all my life of trying to look for good Illuminations videos, this is the best one I've ever come upon. It's so clear and crisp, the angles are breathtaking, the music is so clean, and now I can finally see what images are on the globe! Thank you so much for this, I showed the rest of my family and they were so amazed at the high quality. This deserves so much more recognition for all the hard work you must have put into it.

Oh WOW! Thanks so much for you kind words! Yeah, I'm pretty much an internet "nobody" lol. I can tell you that production on Reflections of Earth 2019 is well under way and will DESTROY this one completely. I'm shooting it with two cinema cameras and very expensive (rented) ultra fast glass. I will end up with about 15 angles to pick from. Trust me,...I think you will love it! Tell your friends! It's lt's goodbye to this amazing so that I love sooooo much. Thanks ;-)

WOW... I have seen many videos but THIS one got me... the videography is AMAZING, Sound track was blended and mixed perfectly with the right balance of source audio and ambiance and the crisp video... I am sitting in my office at work with tears running down my face. Thank God I will be there in two weeks to see the (almost) last performance of RoE. My first dance to my wife was "Promise". We just stand there holding each other while everyone RUSHES to somewhere.... THANK YOU

My god, this is so beautiful. Thank you Clifflix for capturing this masterpiece in a way that does it such justice. A truly breathtaking show, I can’t think of anything else from 1999 that is still regarded so highly in this day. Dorsey and Greenaway are true legends. The Reflections of Earth score is so beautifully done and still evokes emotion every time it is heard. In my opinion, this show is the single greatest addition to the park since its opening (maybe on par with Horizons). Having spanned twenty years inspiring guests and telling us of the history, spirit and meaning of humanity. I can’t bear to think about this show glowing away for good... for what will inevitably be another Disney IP clip show. I wish that they would simply update RoE. Can you imagine what this show would look like using today’s tools and technology?

This is an incredibly done video. Illuminations is my favorite night time show. Especially with the holiday tag. I am so sad that it is being replaced. It is nice to know that this show brings tears to other peoples eyes like it does mine. Thank you for doing this.

Same here!! Even though everyone knew that at some point Illuminations will have to go, the holiday tag doesn't have to change. They can take advantage of the new barges and add so much more effects, and use the same fireworks. The holiday tag has been with EPCOT for how long I can't remember. That doesn't have to be replaced. But, if they do replace it, as long as they still have the different pavilions saying peace of earth in their native language, or whatever they will say in the new show, i'll be fine with it.

I saw Illuminations in ‘05 and ‘07 and of all the Disney park night-time presentations / fireworks shows, this one has stayed with me. While the fireworks, flames, fountains and colors are beyond incredible, it’s the outstanding score that really sets Illuminations apart. That music reaches inside and taps into something visceral and emotional and by the end, you’re choked up, teary-eyed, and full-hearted. We Go On ties it all together so beautifully - look how far we’ve come together, and look how far we still have to go as we start another thousand circles ‘round the sun. The Imagineers may come up with new technical advances, new stunning visuals, but they’ll be hard pressed to surpass Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

I have some secret news for you. I have already begun my last 2019 replacement video of ROE. Its going to be even better than this edit. Shhh....i collected all new footage last Christmas and will continue in December with 8 more new camera angles with all new cameras and lenses. ;-)

Thanks Karl! There are allot of great IllumiNations videos out there. They each bring something nice to the table for Disney fans to love and remember. For me?...I just do what I can to make my favorite Disney show as good as I can possibly make it. I have this dreadful "ticking clock" feeling now about this show ending in two years. So, I'm on a new, two year mission to take capturing this show to the next technical level and produce one last high quality version as the show rides off into the sunset. Starting this Christmas, I'm trying to get some seriously heavy pro gear into Epcot and capture the last two holiday seasons as best anyone can do it. I'm going to need help getting into the gates with this stuff so I'm working on that now. (crossing my fingers) Did you download the files yet?

I admire you for putting the effort into getting multiple camera angles and editing that together. It looks really crisp and beautiful. I like seeing a more panoramic view of shows like this rather than the zoomed in fire barge view (the zoom works great for the globe portions though). Also, I find the rapid transitions from camera to camera jarring - I prefer less camera changing. The camera work should never detract from the show. I prefer a view that comes as close to how it would be watching it in person as possible. After all, isn't that what we try to capture in our videos as best we can?

They broke Soarin', they broke Fantasmic at Disneyland, and they haven't duplicated the night time experience of the Main Street Electrical Parade. Sometimes you get it really right and shouldn't completely replace something. Like Coca-Cola. We'll see if the new show is as spectacular, but more importantly, if it is as emotionally touching as this show.

Stephen Speilberg once said; "I can make the tear....but it's John Williams that makes it drip" The music of Gavin Greenaway was so powerfull and emotional and epic. His work was what gave "Reflections of Earth" such emotional power. Disney absolutely NEEDS to use him again in the future.

Your both so right. NO need to replace this show. Maybe add a few more barges or lasers...anything that might take it to another level. But a full replacement, I think, will be a major mistake. I think I went 4 times during the millennium celebration. Many more after. I’ve probably seen ROE. Over 20 times in person. It never ceases to be amazing. I comment because it was st. Patrick’s day week in 2017 that was my last. So long and God Bless my friend. Harmonious was a joke….Luminous tries. Will we ever see a show like this in Epcot again? It’s certainly possible. But it’s yet to be done. Giant *sigh*. ROE was born out of a giant celebration, with imagineering and pyrotechnic imagineers given everything they could ever ask for. Getting a hans zimmer understudy to compose the whole thing and Kellie coffee to do the exit song. Perfection upon perfection. It’s like Michael Jordan. Will someone top this? Maybe someday. But it’s going to be a very very very long time until we see a show that comes close.

That is an awesome camera. I wish there were quality videos like this but they did 360 shots where you could use your phone or do VR and go around parks or be there during the shows. This is amazingly well shot though.

These are my favourite Disney fireworks videos! So much fun to watch in surround sound on the big screen, during those Saturdays night we decide to stay in. Crack open a Schofferhofer Grapefruit and turn up the sound! Worth downloading the higher-quality file.

Thank you for taking your time on this amazing job you have done! My only feedback is, some of the most important parts of the fireworks, there are too many takes from the globe and these fireworks get lost in the background. I see you wanted to show on detail the screens on the globe, but at that moment I think I prefered to watch a full angle of the fireworks. Besides that, this is just perfect! Amazing quality, I'm sure this is the best video you could find on the Internet from this unbealiveble show. I hate the fact they cancelled it. It made me cry...

I certainly agree with much of you what said. This show is soooo challenging to shoot and edit. There are parts where there is simply too much going on all at once. If you look up at the fireworks, you miss the story's meaning on the globe. Look at the story globe video and you then miss the fireworks. Because of this, every time you watch this show live, you see something that you missed the last time you saw it. Sadly, nothing can capture everything all at once. So, I'm forced to "miss" something to "get" something. It's an ironic trade off. I have a new one that is about 75% ready that will be released soon. Let me know what you think of this one soon!

Absolutely amazing - some wonderful shots. As well as the show itself, I love that slow stroll back to the car park so that you get to hear the full version of "Tapestry Of Nations" and taking in the atmosphere of the slowly emptying park and the lit buildings. When "Tapestry of Nations" track kicks in at 12 mins 30 sec always brings goosebumps for the next 6 minute section. Thanks for this vid. Any more available footage to put together for another vid of the emptying park ?

I would like to thank you so much for putting so much effort into making high quality videos of these shows available to the public. It means a lot to me personally, and clearly many others. You keep talking about how the 2019 version will blow this away in quality, but I'm honestly not sure how it can, especially considering how it's already massively better than the travesty that was the official Disney Parks video of the show they filmed several months ago. The one request I might have of the 2019 version: could you possibly release an edit that doesn't include the Holiday Tag? It seems clear that the new version will also include it, but if at all possible I would like an HD video that reflects how I saw the show (in February, March, April, and September) even if it's just a second copy of the video that includes the tag just with an extra cut. Or if you're going to be in the park filming tonight's final performance on its own that would also do. Sometimes, the holiday season isn't exactly happy for everyone, and it usually hasn't been for me. :/ Many thanks either way :)

It's hard for me to even think about starting my 2019 edit right now. As of tonight, seeing the last show now puts a big whole in my RU-vid heart. I have 52 brand new super high dynamic range 4k recordings. Trust me,...this new one smashes my 2017 edit to peices. I have been doing test color grades and even I'm shocked at how these shots are. Im going to make a teaser trailor soon and then spend a couple of months on the real thing. You are going to see things you havent ever seen in 2017. Trust me. Anyhoo...seeing the last show? Ugg..I'm sad tonight.

@@CLIFFLIX Yeah, I get it. I dragged my best friend to see it about two and a half weeks ago, even got Guest Services to get us VIP viewing near Italy. I've been in a right state for months now with the end impending, and wish I could have done something similar for Wishes (I just didn't find out about that show closing until more than a year after it actually did). Will you be filming EPCOT Forever at some point? I don't think I'm going to be able to get back before it closes too - and my reaction to the previews has been "I hate that I don't hate it" lol

Hey, this video is amazing! I actually feel like I am watching the show in person! Sadly I never saw it in person but I am still sad to see it go! Thanks for all the great videos with the best quality out there! They always make me feel like I am there! I am sad about illuminations ending, but I am excited for the new shows coming, hopefully they evoke the same emotions as illuminations did! Also I cannot wait for your new version of illuminations!! Are you going to do another updated video for Fantasmic, personally I feel Fantasmic REALLY NEEDS AN UPGRADE!

My Fantasmic is very old! Haha...please dont watch it. I did shoot a brand new 4k one. I edited 90% of it but stopped in favor of other things. I will go back to finish it and replace the current one. Yeah,...this new one is WAY better! But,...Im releasing an EPIC production of "World of Color" very soon.

There is a very good 1080p version for download in the description. Im working on a 100% brand new 2019 version that will smash this 2017 version. Trust me. You will hate this 2017 edit after you see the new 2019 edit. Due December -Feb time.

This is a remarkable video. I was able to see Illuminations: Reflections of Earth one last time last weekend. Disney has one heck of a challenge replacing this with Epcot Forever and HarmoniUs, and especially with the soundtrack. Will you have any footage from the last night of the show on 9/30?

Heartbroken. But my new 2019 version is well underway and Im certain this version Im working on will finaly be the one that makes me happy! Its 100% all new footage and is going to fix all the technical problems that all my other versions have. Im putting every trick I have ever learned into this 2019 edit. But yeah....its the only thing I will have left to remember the show with! :-(
