Hasta el batería habla y canta con su instrumento, sencillez, lógica impecable, buen gusto y genialidad, todo lo sublime se resume en esta magnífica interpretación.
Yes, Harold Land is an unjustly underrated tenor man. I think the problem is that he decided to seek his fortune on the West Coast, while most of the jazz writers were in New York, so he was sort of forgotten
Wow! Yes, the performances are great, but their arrangement for such a well known big band tune - look how they changed the restatement of the melody at the end.... Genius! And the whole vibe is so relaxed.... This may have been the original "birth of cool"!😊
I have often wondered about that. From listening to jazz for 40+ years. So often the bass and drum solos are weird excursions that have little or nothing to do with the actual tune. A weak area for jazz.
You're not listening Charles, Max Roach, Shelley Manne, Joe Morello, and even Gene Krupa were excellent musicians who knew where the bridge was and even the key changes. As for Bass players. Listen to Ray Brown or George Mraz and tell me they are weak.
Counter-Weight Medias ...Chick Webb's version was recorded and released in 1934. Benny Goodman's version was recorded and released in 1936. The latter's version was a hit. Chick Webb was the very first artist to record this perennial favorite.
Sophia Loren Coffee ...That is incorrect. Brownie was replaced by Kenny Dorham. Richie Powell was replaced by Ray Bryant. Booker Little died of uremia on October 5th, 1961. He was only twenty-three years old.
