Communities across Washington are taking action to ensure a clean energy future and improved environmental health with investments from the Climate Commitment Act.
During a tour with Gov. Inslee, King County officials, and others at the Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station earlier this week, we heard from Jennifer Grove, managing director of Commerce’s Energy Programs in Communities Unit. Her team announced 71 Community Decarbonization grants from the Clean Energy Grants Programs that are helping advance environmental justice and equity.
The treatment station is located in one of the areas most impacted by pollution in the state. It will use a $200,076 grant to install a large solar photovoltaic array onsite to help offset the increased energy use by the UV disinfection treatment technology.
Strong input from communities is helping shape these energy initiatives to support solutions for each community’s unique challenges. Learn more about how this program is strengthening communities: bit.ly/3XyEMxK
