That's what I love about living here in Texas. I've grown up here, my whole life And no matter where you go here. You are surrounded by history You can go somewhere that was settled by the Spanish in the 1700s. And then go 30 miles away and be somewhere that was Found by german immigrants in the 1850s No matter where you go here in texas you are surrounded by history
I'm planning to visit the exact sites of those posts 11th soldiers were. Nearby, for instance, was the original Sweetwater Station. I'm not too sure how well they are marked though. As a side note, I recommend W H Jacksons 1870 photographs from the area and History Nebraska site for some interesting 1865 photographs also, from the Oregon Trail. Thanks Again
