Funny that I wasjust thinking about doing this ride earlier today, then this pops up. I drove it so many times when was a teenager that I think my car could've done it without me.
If u want awesome no buffeting wind protection this windshield is the best I have had in 40 years of riding~! The Slipstreamer Hellfire SS-24 windshield on Amazon is fantastic ~! I wouldn't ride my 2022 Rebel 500 SE ABS without it ~! It is wide and go out to you hand grips and I am 5"7" and the shield comes right in at eye level letting u look through or over the shield perfect for no bouncing your head around. On my install I cut off the bottom about 3 inches and connected with only the 2 top brackets but I saw a RU-vid video where they connect it at the bottom as well with no cutting of the last lower 3 inches. To bad there is no way to send pictures in your comments. Nice ride I think I would have kept my revs up a little higher under the load of that hill~! I have $100 dollar Lorababber Amazon pipe that gives me more top speed and the sound to match any I have heard on our bikes. Also the T-Rex Highway bar saved my bike when this 77 year old rider dropped it a zero miles per hour. Also if you like floor board they have some great ones $28 a set on Amazon too. They just bolt on to the original rider foot pegs. Kit
I was motivated by the CBR 500, which has the same motor, ended um getting Honda NC 700X. Once you love Honda youre gonna stay with Honda. Build quality is superb.
I can’t wait till spring I bought one of these a few weeks ago but to much snow out right now. I test rode a 300 last summer and liked it but needed more power so I got a 500 I have been tormented by ever since I brought it home.
@@freeignition I was looking for an exhaust for my Rebel 300 aswell. I don't want louder, just best sounding. I like the Musarri Exhaust, but can't seem to find one online. Two Brothers are tad bit expensive
@@oveemist I lateraled over to a no name brand exhaust, it was $90 on AliExpress . Not too loud and well crafted. You can hear it on my recent POV video. I tried the Diablo twin exhaust and was extremely disappointed in the quality. Literally just poorly painted pipes with Diablo stamped on it. The paint was chipping before I installed it and the inside was super rusted. I returned it in a heartbeat.
I took the exhaust off my Honda NC to replace the brake pedal yesterday and this rebels sound reminded me of how loud it was. Isnt it annoying for longer rides?
I was okay with it but I did get another exhaust that's more subtle. I actually didn't like the look of the shorty gp and feared future damage to low back pressure.
Go by RPM.. I would say at any speed coasting try to be around 3000RPM.. or 0-20mph ~ 1st gear 20-30mph ~ 2nd gear 30-40mph ~ 3rd gear 40-50mph ~ 4th gear
@@larzman651 oh lol, during the time of this video I've probably only been riding for maybe a month? So I was a pretty new rider taking it slow. I'd probably rip through it there now but I actually don't enjoy this route anymore because there is so much traffic and impatient drivers that are always trying to pass ( I've been face to face with a car a couple times here)
The 2017 and newer "Rebel" is probably the ugliest bike I've ever seen, with the Kawasaki Vulcan S coming in second. I have a couple of 1200cc+ bikes and a 650 dual sport, but I also have a 2016 Rebel 250. I bought it as a collectors item because it is the last year of the "real" Rebel. I bought my first Rebel back in 1985. Turns out I ride it more than I thought. I am 6' 240, and have ridden it up to Flagstaff, Payson, Show Low, Grand Canyon, etc. with no problems at all. 234cc and carbureted, and it handles mountains over 8000 feet just fine.
@@Tonympiotrowski The reason I bought a new 2016 model, even though I didn't need it, was because I actually got sick and almost threw up when I saw pictures of the 2017 models. I bought my first Rebel in 1985, again not because I really needed it, I had a Yamaha XS750 Special at the time, but the little Rebel was just irresistible to me. I eventually sold it, as it was just too small for me at 6'240. Then the desire to own another Rebel hit, and I bought a used 2001, sold that and bought a used 2004, sold that, and finally decided I was done with Rebels. Then I saw pictures of the 2017 models, my local dealer was selling 2016 models new OTD under MSRP, so I bought one. This one I will keep. The 2017 looks like a brand new "rat bike" to me.
