ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION THAT WE HIT 10K!!! THANKS to each and every one of y'all - one of my goals for 2019 was to hit 1,000 subscribers, so to think I hit 10,000 is... kind of overwhelming tbh but YES THANK YOU ALL I SO SO appreciate all of you for hanging out with me here!! :~) Next stop: 7 billion!!
Thank you so much for calling them "boulder problems" and not "rOuTeS". I moved to Northen California a couple years ago, and at least half of the climbers up here call boulders "routes" and it absolutely floors me everytime! It just blows my mind how many new climbers completely disregard the climbing terminology that has evolved to what it is now. Words mean something for a reason. They might as well be saying that they "First Ascent, Onsite, Free Soloed that V5" in the gym. Another example is Freerider on El Cap. Note how it called the V7/8 "boulder problem" on the route, and not the V7/8 "route" on the route. I hope that last example makes it really clear how important it is to use proper terminology when climbing. Sorry for the rant, as I appear to be preaching to the Choir.
I’m watching this late but I have to say seein all these walls again .... the nostalgia jumped out !!! May we all come full circle *~*camera does a 360 no scope*~*
Good luck with the grad school application! And always nice to see other gyms. I really like you wall variety you got, the gym I go to is a lot less creatively structured
I'm a novice climber that just fell in love with bouldering! I'm not the best but it doesn't matter because its a challenge against myself. I love your videos and would love to learn more technique for novice climbers from you. Also I just sent my fist v2 today and I'm living for it! Thanks for the Inspo!
ahhh congrats!!!! i remember my first v2, it felt amazing!! you'll be crushing v4 before you know it :~) and good to know! i'll def try to make more videos aimed at novice climbers - i'm so glad that you started bouldering and are really enjoying it!! best of luck on your climbing journey, you're gonna have such a blast :~) take lots of videos of your progression to look back on!!
Oh man what a place! My gym is like 70% top roping and 30% bouldering so i'm actually using only a small part of the gym. We tried some other gyms around the city (urban climb for my aussie boys) but their floors were like hard springboards and hurt when you fell :( my gym has the softest pads that you can full dyno off the top and still be fine. p.s. you're easily my favourite bouldering youtuber, your videos just have such a good flow and vibe. Congrats on 10k!
Why aren't there any Volumes on the wall? This seems to be very restricting in terms of creative routesetting. EDIT: Just spotted some volumes, still looks like far too little in the whole gym.
Looking forward to checking out LA.B soon 👍. Hollywood boulders is my home gym and I just got around to checking out Cliffs of Id last weekend. One big question though.. How does that gym fare on weekdays / weekends on peak hours?
LAB seems dope! I usually just end up going to Cliffs of Id, as it is closer to me, but I will need to check out LAB! Also, Vertigo boulders is pretty fun! I am recovering from dislocating my elbow, so that frustrating progression and climbing lower grades life is very much felt lol. Ordered a monopkt shirt, great designs and all that! Great vid Jenn!
you should come out sometime!! i'm sometimes at cliffs though, so def say hello if you see me! verdigo is also really fun, i love their lil workout area! and AHHH SO STOKED to hear you ordered a shirt! jackelyn would be so happy to hear that :D
@@JenniferLangen I'll get out there soon enough! I will definitely say hello! I can never tell if it would be weird or not, but now I will! Course! They are dope designs, I got the basic one with the text at the bottom of the shirt!
OKKKKKK I'VE honestly had this thought in the past but didn't think anyone would want to see that! rather, i thought if i set up a meetup that NO ONE would show D: but maybe i can figure something out for the future :D
Thanks so much for all your beginner to intermediate videos and advice, and congrats on 10k! Would you consider a video about the mental (motivation?) and physical aspects of tricky moves/learning new techniques for climbing? Especially for someone who didn't previously do any sports.
ooooh that's an interesting idea! you might have to elaborate a little bit, kind of like how to commit to a move or how to improve your headgame? because i still struggle with that tbh 😭
Original thought was committing to a move. But you seem to be the only climber on here that says much about mindset so one on headgame would be appropriate for your channel.
@@coasterb1 oooh ok!! i can think of a couple of things i could say about that! i think rockentry might have just released a video about this, but i'm not sure it was as specific as mental space when committing to a move. i'll definitely think about making a video about that!! thanks for the suggestion :~)
Awesome video Jenn....I’d like to make videos about climbing here at our gym but I’m worried that the employees would trip and tell me no filming😕....maybe one day I’ll just go for it though. (Made one vídeo before but I literally snuck on my phone and filmed stuff😂)
ooof i actually never asked the employees whether i could film, but that's because i had seen other youtubers filming in there as well!! i think so long as you're not bothering anyone, you should be fine! especially if you use your iphone - lots of people just like to film themselves to post on IG anyway :~)
OOH i've always wanted to go to singapore!! and this gym gets packed too, i just always film early in the morning :D but i feel like if the gym were any smaller it would be way too crowded!
AWW maybe it's just a product of living in a big city? and los angeles is pretty close to a lot of outdoor climbing spots in southern california, so lots of people climb here. idk! i'm definitely VERY lucky to be able to climb here!!
