Climbing Mt Kazbek in Georgia 5,054 m with  

If your interested in Climbing Mt Kazbek 5,054 m on the Georgian/ Russian boarder, then here is a look at what its like to climb this glaciated peak. The team went with Summit Expeditions to the Georgian capital of Tblisis Georgia and then drove 3hrs to a townlet called Stepantsminda at the base of the mountain. The following day we headed to the mountain. We stayed at 2 camps along the way, Altihut at 3,000m and Meteo hut at 3,600m.
Day 1: Arrived Stepantsminda
Day 2: We hiked up to Altihut.
Day 3: We hiked from Altihut to Meteo Hut
Day 4: Acclimatization day at Meteo hut.
We also did an acclimatization hike up the the highest church in the world.
Practiced using Crampons, Ice axes and Self Arrest techniques
Day 5: Summit Day
Day 6: Descended from Meteo hut down to Stepantsminda
