Climbing Waterfalls in Jacó, Costa Rica

We have a wild adventure for you today! Last week, Kelly and I went exploring the waterfalls in Las Monas, Jacó, Costa Rica. This is an incredibly wild trail that meanders around a river and leads to a series of 10 amazing waterfalls and natural pools. This trail is part of a new local tourism venture with Finca Descanso La Mona and Go Wild Adventures. This is an incredible place to spot monkeys, Green poison dart frogs, and wild plants.
As some of you know, the town of Jacó suffered a severe flood this past week and many of the areas in town, including these trails, were affected by the storm. We were fortunate to capture the beauty of this place just days before the flood occurred. The town of Jacó has been working around the clock to clean up the mess and get aid to the families that were affected.

WOW great video thanks Botany . Looks dangerous though. You say this waterfall hike is only 5 minutes from Jaco ? I guess 5 minutes by car not by foot. Is it in the south end or north end of Jaco ? Is there a web sight for this adventure ?

Hi. Thanks for watching!! 😁 Much appreciated This is in Pueblo Nuevo, at the very end. The entrance to Pueblo Nuevo is across the bridge after FyM residential area, if you are coming from Jacó. It's 5 minutes by car. They don't have a website but I did leave a link to the Facebook page for Finca Descanso la Mona and a number you can call to contact Reinier at Go Wild Adventures. Hope that helps. I will be back on this trail but in dry season 🤣 Pura Vida!

Beautiful video and trail! In august next year, I will be visiting Costa Rica for 3 weeks and I love the aroids that grow there. Do you have any recommendations for books of the plants of Costa Rica, because I want to know as many species as possible :)

Thanks Zeger. Glad you liked it. I get most of my info of plants online. Don't have a specific book to recommend. Sorry. I like the inaturalist site. You can look up plants based on location. Lots of experts on there too to help ID. Pura vida

Thanks for the great videos. Do you have any idea if this waterfall trail is accessible again after the very unfortunate flooding last month?

Hi thank you. ❤️ As I mentioned in the video, the trail is not accessible at the moment and due to ongoing rains, it is not advised to go until dry season (December). The flood occurred 3 days after filming this video and it will take them some time to rebuild all the trails. They told me likely in December some time. You can contact them in the info in the description and ask them, but they told me it will probably be in December. It's a beautiful place. Pura Vida.
