In regards to moving the client to another supervise, how would you approach this with the client? How do you and this supervise terminate the relationship in a beneficial way? I've learned that if you feel sexual attraction to a client, it is not something you tell them (but work with a supervisor or therapist as shown here), so what would you tell them is the reason they are being referred to someone else? Thank you so much for the video Dr. Grande. I have shown it to my ethics class for a project, and everyone was very appreciative of what was shown

He seems to have better communication skills in his more up-to-date videos and also a dry sense of humour. Here he can't even wear a suit that fits him ;P :)

I love his clothes that are sometimes rather large on him in the sense that that I, as a deeply flawed, scared woman; I’d feel totally “safe” being counseled by him.👏🏻🙏

Hello, is it possible to become a counsellor and study with you? I'm very much interested by these videos, thanks a lot!

You would go to school to become a counselor why would you think you would be able to study with him?

How would you advise a patient who has a therapist she has spent months with building trust, and then the therapist is openly hitting on her? For example, he very openly stares at her breasts and legs, finds excuses to touch her, and give his cell phone number for texting? I'm glad to see you addressing this with therapists by using these scenarios.

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable bringing it up in person. I'd probably take my time with an email, review it carefully, & call him out. State that it's unprofessional, inappropriate, makes you uncomfortable, & that you recognize he's not doing the work to reel his feelings in -- he's failing himself & you. You may request a new therapist. Sometimes things can be fixed (can be a good experience for rebuilding trust), but it takes the therapist knowingly nipping it in the butt before you should ever really notice. That's so unfortunate a situation, I'm so sorry you're therapist is like that with you.

What would happen when it's the other way round? Now I've always gone to females for treatment because mu anxiety has a lot to do with men, but if that wasn't the case, then I feel like I'd be the person who'd fall for the man treating me, and well that wouldn't be too good, so what gets done then? And the client most likely wouldn't share that information, so how would you know that that was the case?

An experienced therapist would be able to pick it up and may discuss it with you . It would however be made clear that the the therapist is not an option for a relationship. Even if there is mutual attraction, the the therapist must remain ethical, no relationship outside of the therapeutic relationship will take place.

Wow you've come a long way Dr. Grande. I'm glad you do videos on real things happening in life now. Also glad you don't just have a mustache anymore. No offense but it makes you look like a creep that's going to offer kids free candy out of the back of a windowless van.

Yes - I have never heard of a situation in which the client's identity would be unknown to a supervisor.

What do you do when you realize your client has a crush on you?
@Lora_M_NY

You should have had training that includes transference. It’s very common. It makes me wonder if you were put in a situation you aren’t fully equipped to deal with or maybe you are working with clients outside your scope. Look at the transference video he has. Very good. But again, you should have a supervisor affording you supervision as is portrayed in these supervision vids

This is really unfair to Shannon. Reassignment should be an absolute LAST resort option.
@nahedkhairy9804

strongly disagree...shannon is not a piece of furniture...she has established a working fruitful relation with a professional-in-the-making. while not "abandoning her", you are "using her" as if she were a pawn. This is a lost opportunity where she would understand more about herself and the counselor would as well. Moving her to another counselor is like a divorce that she never asked for and was not aware of the dynamics of.
